What makes many artists in the Philippines become successful is the support they get from other artists. There is mutual admiration and they learn from one another because they love music. Early in their careers they were not as good with breath control or pitch or style or whatever. Sure, they may do it professionally but many of them are not out there to crush competition or treat music like business. That's why they get better and better.

The thing about Filipinos and language is that they like to emulate. Especially in singing, emulation is basically the first "steps" of learning in Ph.
I love BuDaKhel (Bugoy-Daryl-Michael). When they sing it's perfect. Also, Katrina is one of the highest female vocals in our country. Filipino artists are talented.
You know what's more mindblowing? Katrina recently just lost her sister at the time this was recorded. And to sing this song without breaking down, the composure she had while singing One Sweet Day was something I cant comprehend and at the same time breaks my heart. She was one heck of a person and a singer.
You’ve already seen Katrina solo, you should see the others’ solo acts as well. Michael Pangilinan has a wishbus performance of Rainbow (a cover of a filipino group’s song), Bugoy Drilon has a wishbus performance of One Day (a Matisyahu original), and there’s Daryl Ong’s BoyzIIMen medley where he sings all the voices. All four also have a cover of Mariah Carey, 98degrees an Joe’s Thank God I Found You.

Some OPM artists back in the golden era Eraserheads, Rivermaya, Bamboo, Southborder, etc. Bands back in the 90s were super cool and very OPM and original. And yes, Filipinos love 90s music. Up north in my hometown (Baguio City), locals love country music.

What separate Philippines from the rest of the neighboring Asian countries, English is the 2nd language, they can slay 'Spanish songs with perfect accent. (cultural) The love for 'American music is obvious..from Jazz to Rock, pop, hip-hop, particularly R&B.(history) love listening to you guys, thank you, I'm pinoy but I'm from US.
Nah, Filipinos can't pronounce Spanish properly, just a little bit.
Can also be considered first language for most cause we are exposed to it from a very young age.

Hi Guys, you fully know that they're individual Artists but made a collab just for the heck of this cover. BTW, regarding the Pilipino way of pronouncing English; our English is American English since we're taught in 1901 (American Thomasites) and we're colonized by the Americans in 1898 -1946. Our Constitution has Tagalog (Pilipino) and English as our National Languages. And American English is taught from Kindergarten to College. In all of Asia, including Europe the Philippines has the best Diction/Accent in speaking American English. You already noticed it in all of the Pilipino Artists you've reacted to. India was once favored by the BPOs (Business Process Outsourcing) but since then the Philippines is now the Call Center of Asia if not the world. That's the trick that most Filipino singers do professionally or singing just for fun they imitate or emulate how the original singer of the song do. They do it repeatedly not noticing that their accents are gone. Vocal couching or schools isn't a huge thing in Phil. There are some but it's not a priority coz some can't afford it and it's not practical.

Speaking of water over there, I remember when I was a kid and went on a family trip to one of our farms in the mountains. Being from the city, I remember the air smelling "weird". Later I was told that that is how fresh clean air smells like. Later on, I felt thirsty and asked where I can get some water. One of the persons who lived there waved me over and pointed at a stream that was running down from a hill. A bamboo shaft was stuck in the middle to divert some of the water to the side. I was a little hesitant seeing it was a little green with moss growing on it. I wanted to ask if it was really clean and safe to drink but didn't for fear of offending. So I cuffed my hand under the running water and took a sip. Dang, I had a "wft?!" moment! The water was delicious! Tap water tasted like cough medicine compared to it. Perfectly cool and it was sweet with a hint of honey and lemon. I could not believe how it tasted. It was as if a piece of candy was in the water. That taste was something I could not forget. Needles to say, I was well hydrated during our stay there.

English is Philippines’ second language. We have English subject since nursery. Many Filipinos have good command of the language. So, it is not surprising if Filipinos can enunciate well when singing.

Yeah, this is dubbed. Usually, we can tell when we see the amount of effort and movements on the face and muscles in the neck with respect to the vocal output we hear plus the synchronicity of the lips. Great observation of the positioning of that condenser microphone and the acoustic treatment of their recording room. Filipinos have the term "plakado" meaning they try to sound exactly the same as the radio studio version of the songs they cover. Great job GidKidDad!
