I like their story. They used to do gigs before but the pandemic shut down everything. Jon and Gigi started live streaming just to earn some income, together with now Mr Tritone (studios). They started just in a room without fancy equipment. As they formed the band they went through a lot, even all sleeping in Gigi's living room, and basically lived there to comply with travel restrictions. So they are pretty tight. Gigi always used to say she will always be there for the band since they also stuck with her. With all her success now, I can see she always take the band with her including their recent USA tour. Their sacrifice and hard work paid off. I'm happy for them.
That's such a nice story and i didn't know they went through some hard stuff. That's why i love Gigi she's such a nice person inside and out. I'm a fan. I wish all the best for Gigi. ♡♡♡
Yeah, I think Gigi related the story of their humble beginnings when Karen Davila interviewed them in her house. She showed the relatively small space where they used to do their live streamings before. It's in the garage of Tritone, their producer, which is just right across her house. Gigi and The Gigi Vibes band had gone a long way from just doing gigs and events because they're really very good and talented musicians.
@@norcalpinoy9618 and not just that, they also started livestreaming to support the medication of Gigi's mom who's diagnosed with breast cancer... That's why I really get mad whenever I see bashes for Gigi.. they don't know her story, I just hope they won't hit by karma.
You got it! She's scrolling thru the lyrics from her device. Again this is a livrstream where they take request and sing the song. So there would be songs that they dont know very well and still sing it anyway. That is why there are mistakes. Sometimes they screw up and just laugh it out. A livestream lasts for 2 to 3 hours. Gigi sings around 10-15 songs, 20 max on a live stream. Song covers you see on their channels are just a cut from their livestream, just 1 song frm a set of songs sung during the live unless otherwise stated that it is a studio version.
Don’t care what other people say , this is Perfection to a T Her band is her family as only child and was raised by a single mom who raised her well and her first mentor growing up on singing and now she works hard for her mom for cancer treatment that’s why she’s so blessed 🙏
Watch all her video songs liked Better Days,Maroon five,Officially Missing you,I’ll Be There,Sailing, and Tony Braxton songs Breathe Again, and so much more. She’s so good and the band as well. Enjoy!
Being just a singer in the Philippines is not enough, in order for them to stay in the industry for a long time, they need to be a total performer or other talents and skills to back up their singing. For instance, Darren Espanto can sing, act, dance; Morissette also dance and write songs if I'm not mistaken; Gigi De Lana can act, in fact she starred in a series. There are plenty of singers you have yet to discover, and I'm excited to witness that journey of diving deeper to OPM (Original Filipino Music)
Most bands in the Philippines sing this way singing songs impromptu as requested by the audience. The singers simply scroll their tablets for the lyrics as they sing and belt:) Always impressive!
this is common with the bands in the philippines. they have the audience randomly request a song. most of the time . they can wing it . they’re that talented
38 million views and counting.... 1.2 million subscribers to her UA-cam channel. Facebook, world tours, and local gigs. Plus she the daytime TV star, dancer, and movie actor. 💕

We just moved to Philippines, and caught her show in Manila. You would have loved to react to those songs. When in Phillpines, we should catch up, similar industry from states. For Gigi and vibes, such a wonderful story from the roots to what they have become.
Gigi De Lana is the sole breadwinner of her family, her mom is sick and diagnosed with stage-4 breast cancer and her parents were separated, that's why she works hard to provide foods, medicine and financial help to her mom. She's a beautiful and caring daughter.
There was a time that a lot of bars/pubs has house bands or invite cover bands to play regularly as part of their entertainment and play for 3 hours straight or more - in the Philippines and Hong Kong. Their repertoire are vast because they need to cater to all song requests of the patrons!!! All pros man... Just another day in the Philippines 😊 When you come to the Philippines, go bar hopping and see them in action 🤩
Yeah!!! Regular occurrence in pubs and bars. In 2000s,I love going to this and just listen, request songs and also sing along on stage with this band. Those are the days.
Gigi De Lana might be the Queen of mid voice (chest/head) in the world, but she can belt also. You do excellent reactions, pointing out nuanced technical aspects of vocals. Thanks also, for pointing the beautiful synch between the band and her - excellent. 👍👍
She was scrolling through the lyrics. That video was from an original streaming during pandemic they would accept requests on the spot from the viewers. Their whole band is really amazing. That also is the trend in every restaurant in the country just like karaoke. With regards to the expression of the keyboardist at the near end of the song Through the Fire, he was signalling the band to cool down ( he is the musical director too ) , he was communicating with the drummer specifically. That eyebrow thing amongst majority of the Filipinos is common.
Gigi's cover on 80's and 90's hit songs or even older really hits differently. Here in the Philippines kids sing even their great grand parent's fave song. During family gathering, we usually sing older songs so our older relatives can sing along with us, the reason we know more a lot of songs from the past eras. We'd love to see you on wish bus. Push niyo yan mga kuya😄. Thank you once again for your support to Filipino artists. Mabuhay kayo. Love from the 🇵🇭
Hey Josh, "Believe It or Not" is still popular in the philippines. Good tunes are still played over and over. Thats why sometimes you hear old styles in new songs that make e you feel reminiscent. Here, if it's good, whether song or genre, it just doesn't die. 70s songs of all genres are still popular too. It isnt weird that you'd hear Eagles, Queen, James Ingram, Hall and Oates etc from time to time.
@@kms32690 IF you're familiar with an old old American TV show, The Greatest American Hero. It's the theme song. It's very 80s old... but you still hear it on RnB joints / bars
The issue for me here is Pinoys are not forcing their way to be appreciated, but just singing their way enjoying their passion and some are to earn some money. It just so happen now that we can record inexpensively...

Guys if you notice, English is not our first language here in the Philippines. But when our singers sings English language their accent disappears and becomes neutral compare to other asian countries. Shes pressing on her cellphone sometimes for the lyrics and sometimes by browsing from her audience requests via social media apps. I'll remind you guys they don't use "auto tune" here in the Philippines. Its taboo.
Omg that beauty its incredible...jazzy voice at a top level...Just siting, reading the lirics..i bet she is reading the music too because she is in control of the band too and making super high notes in perfect pitch....ufff...what an amazing singer...

The Gigi vibe is one of the best singers group that ever happens in the Philippines ever… She is the best of the best and her band . this band, with gigi as its lead singer, is really more like a family. all those men are like her older brothers and they're soooo in sync with each other because, through the worst of the pandemic, they all lived together just so they could keep practicing and making videos (live and recorded) to earn a living. for obvious reasons, performers took a heavy hit during the pandemic and they are all breadwinners of their own families. add to that that gigi's mom is sick. they literally and figuratively did everything they could to hone their talents, accepting every single request, regardless of genre
You mentioned Journey, did you know that their vocalist now is Filipino? Arnel Pineda. Check his channel "Arnel Pineda" i think you can react to his post like their concerts, he posts it there
I suggest you see the Wish Bus impromptu duet of Arnel Pineda and Morisette covering "I've Finally Found Someone" from the Barbara Streisand movie. It's not Mori who stole the show but Arnel.
I love your discussions and reactions. They make me appreciate the things I never would've noticed or don't know much about (the drums, musicality and the transitions) And yes, we "love hearing your stories"! Great work, guys!
I really am addicted to your reaction videos. It's so technical that even though I dont know much about musical things, i kinda understand and learn from it.. especially the Darren Espanto reaction that you even see the placement of his tongue... When I first watched your SB19 reaction, I binge watch your videos almost the whole day...
I really love this cover of Though the fire. Gigi de Lana is one of a kind vocalist. She's stunningly beautiful with a voice of an angel. 💯💯💯🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶
always enjoyable to watch music analyses liie dynamic like these because Filipinos don't think when they sing even when they play music. everyone plays by ear and feels the music throughout every song. sessionists like this band are dime a dozen in our country. we're so underrated but so talented
She's just checking the lyrics in her tablet nothing to do w/ technical stuff tho. Gigi is simply amazing w/ all the songs being requested and singing live w/ her band.👏👍
she may read while she is singing because they are filipinos, sometimes they may forget something. Like when she sang a korean music it is obvious that she was reading because is a korean song. I know english is their second language but even tho tagalog or another dialect may be more natural for them. In tagalog maybe she would memorize it better
Gigi as usual, delivered with a clear, raspy voice- so classy! And the runs and high notes, she churned so flawlessly. And she was seated! Really on Fire here! The band is also exemplary! Josh is right- everyone has his/her own paths; you are one of the best in what you do, Lucas (same with Josh). And some people are Jack(s) of all trades; thing is to be master of at least one or a few. 😀. And you are going to be more successful in the Philippines; you are gonna run into snags and not a few will be jealous and be threatened by competition; but just go on. Thanks for admiring our Filipino talents.
The Filipino listeners/warchers would be so ecstatic to hear/see you sing on the Wish bus. We are a welcoming and appreciative people It would be so cool man😊👍👌🏻
It's actually a trend here in the Philippines for singers to sing like it's effortless, like smiling, acknowledging fans, etc. especially on hard to hit notes.
25:30 to answer his question Genarally in Phillipines we like to sing in karaoke and most of these karaokes are old 70s 80s 90s songs. So if u ask us how to sing a song from these years most likely we know how to sing that song and even if we dont know we already have an idea what kind of melody that song in that particular year. Crazy but yea we grew up singing old classic songs. You guys should react one of her videos called "all time hits". Youll understand what im talking about.
They started as a lounge/bar band, so these requests may be random, but I have no doubt their playlist/song list is massive. So it’s not difficult to believe they know the songs that are being randomly requested. Crazy good
When you’ve been playing covers at gigs, or if you play as a house band at a venue for a while, you build a catalogue of covers that you can pull out whenever. 👍🏽 There are places in the Philippines where it’s a “Karaoke” in that customers/audience pick a song, but there’s a live band that will play it, and you get up there and sing like a front man/woman. “Rockeoke” is think is what it was called.
this the only reaction video that after watching leave them speechless! watching from philippines after 4 months the video uploaded...tnx for appreciating gigi...
There's one singing contest here wherein the host of the show requested from the judges (who are also seasoned artist) to sing different versions of the song on the spot. They actually did different versions of the song with the help of the house band. Some of them don't even know the lyrics and had to search for it online. The original was a ballad and they did a rock, christian & reggae version of it.
Gigi Vibes is the name of her band. While she has been a singer for a while, she and her band stayed together during in one house and started making music vlogs in a tiny garage where they started getting views in the thousands and into the millions. It doesn’t that she is pleasant to the eyes too. Watch her duets with other Filipino singers. It’s totally great!
In the Philippines, if your a seasoned musician/singer you would have an arsenal of songs that you can perform whenever with or without any kind of rehearsal or preparation.
Live bands tend to bank 100s of songs and singers familiarize themselves with the melody and lyrics books are there since sometimes they forgot the lyrics so they have something to go back to just incase.
Those songs were pretty popular back in the days. She probably picked it up from her parents. The 80s and 90s are pretty big here. Even young musicians would know them.... Btw, I always love your reactions coz I would learn something about music.
OOPs. It was Mr. Tritone's (Erwin Lacsa) idea and studio (place/equipments). The band (rebadge Gigi Vibes)was the band of Erwin Lacsa where he is the lead singer, wherein Gigi join in after her TNT stint. The house and studio where it all started (forced to sleep in the house coz of covid restrictions) was the residence of Mr. Tritone, the head, heart and soul (producer/ director/ owner of Tritone Studios) The first livestreaming of GG Vibes was from here for more than a year , thereafter they transferred to the house across when it was possible to rent and transferred again to a bigger place.
Piano in the dark is by Brenda Russell Those 2 songs are my childhood. Both are go-to karaoke songs for some filipinos, whether u able or unable to hit those high notes 😅
Gigi, Morisette, and Katrina Velarde all grew up joining singing contests almost every week since they were kids so that was their training ground. No music schools or formal music training for these monsters. Next up on the Gigi list, please watch her ocvers of This Love, Fly me to the Moon, and any of her Alanis Morisette and Paramore's covers. Those are her favorites, i believe
These are all recorded on a live stream, and yes they sometimes do take song requests. If you go to the Philippines and watch a live band on any bar or music lounges. You will be amazed of the wide array of repertoire live bands have here in the Phillipines. They do follow a set of rehearsed songs for every set, But! if you request a particular song, there's a 90% chance that they can play it for you. Also I'm glad you have finally discovered Gigi. She's such a babe with sweet vocals. Her first major exposure was her duet cover of "Shallow" with Sam Mangubat, who is an excellent male vocalist as well. You may want to check that out.
I like their story. They used to do gigs before but the pandemic shut down everything. Jon and Gigi started live streaming just to earn some income, together with now Mr Tritone (studios). As they formed the band they went through a lot, even all sleeping in Gigi's living room, and basically lived there to comply with travel restrictions. So they are pretty tight. I love your discussions and reactions. They make me appreciate the things I never would've noticed or don't know much about (the drums, musicality and the transitions)
And yes, we "love hearing your stories"! Great work, guys!
We just love Gigi❤❤❤🇵🇭
I really am addicted to your reaction videos. It's so technical that even though I dont know much about musical things, i kinda understand and learn from it.. especially the Darren Espanto reaction that you even see the placement of his tongue...
When I first watched your SB19 reaction, I binge watch your videos almost the whole day...
Love her . She's fantastic. A true star.
They are receiving request and that is why she is scrolling on the lyrics but still provide this great performance!
Gigi is reading the lyrics. These performances are impromptu upon live requests by fans.
It is the 1988 piano in the dark sung by Brenda Russell. check out her video.
she may read while she is singing because they are filipinos, sometimes they may forget something.
I like Gigi she’s one of a good singer that I love to hear in the Philippines
The Filipino listeners/warchers would be so ecstatic to hear/see you sing on the Wish bus. We are a welcoming and appreciative people It would be so cool man😊👍👌🏻
It's actually a trend here in the Philippines for singers to sing like it's effortless, like smiling, acknowledging fans, etc. especially on hard to hit notes.
Captivating voice! Listening to her song is just amazing! It makes one calm.
From a country that eats a videoke, these singers memorize the lyrics easily. The songs she sings are videoke favorites 😂. Live bands are a thing here
Awesome group. One of the best performers in the Philippines. Hats off to u guys
Exactly, they are doing live request on the spot.
25:30 to answer his question
Genarally in Phillipines we like to sing in karaoke and most of these karaokes are old 70s 80s 90s songs.
We love Gigi so much❤🇵🇭
Piano in the dark was an original by Brenda Russel.
They started as a lounge/bar band, so these requests may be random, but I have no doubt their playlist/song list is massive. So it’s not difficult to believe they know the songs that are being randomly requested. Crazy good
Finally you guys reacted to Gigi, this cover is my all time fave of Gigi.❤️
Music sheets... Geez can you imagine having the ability to do that on the spot!!!! 💕
Piano in the dark by Brenda Russell (1988)
When you’ve been playing covers at gigs, or if you play as a house band at a venue for a while, you build a catalogue of covers that you can pull out whenever. 👍🏽
There are places in the Philippines where it’s a “Karaoke” in that customers/audience pick a song, but there’s a live band that will play it, and you get up there and sing like a front man/woman. “Rockeoke” is think is what it was called.
You guys are right!. Gigi were pressing the sound board or maybe her iPad not so sure
We love you guys! Keep doing what you do! 🥰
this the only reaction video that after watching leave them speechless! watching from philippines after 4 months the video uploaded...tnx for appreciating gigi...
You need to check out Gigi’s version of Fly me to the Moon and Officially missing You.
Not studio musicians. More like garage musicians! It doesn’t matter where you’re at. What’s important is the talent.
I've been a silent listener to your reactions and always love your expressions whenever you give your feedback. Keep it up! God bless your show.
Piano in the dark is by Brenda Russell
Those 2 songs are my childhood.
Both are go-to karaoke songs for some filipinos, whether u able or unable to hit those high notes 😅
Watching your reactions and listening to your stories is always fun. 😊
Don't be afraid. We're Filipino. We love everyone! Just do it!!!!! Go on the wish bus, Lucas!
Yes she reading the lyrics that is why she keep looking beside her.
