The amount of hidden story crammed into the background of Nazi Zombies is staggering. Best part is that none of it was told directly; all of it was hidden in recordings, documents, and other hidden objects within the environment of the maps. The lead might've lost his mojo with Black Ops 2's maps, but he absolutely nailed the storytelling aspect.
Agreed. I think the problem is that they kind of wrote themselves into a corner by having the Earth blow up and Richtofen take control. Kind of hard to do conspiracies and shadow games with both a post-apocalypse AND a cognizant villain controlling the zombies. Sam worked because she was a little girl lashing out at random whenever she saw a chance to hurt Group 935. Richtofen being smarter and more coherent means the element of unpredictable chaos that Sam brought is missing.
Yeah man, after black ops 1 the stuff kind of spiralled. Black ops 2 had some great maps and also some dog shit maps, the story wasn't too crazy yet but it was moving away a lot from the scary stuff unfortunately. Black ops 1 kept that cool shit going from waw.
@@fred4800 I don’t think moving away from the scary stuff is necessary a BAD thing, I did honestly love the post apocalyptic world bo2 was in, the idea of 4 survivors following a ex cult member through the madness of this damned world seems like a really cool concept Bit unfortunate the victus maps kinda sucked (apart from buried) I feel like if tranzit and die rise wasn’t cancerous then we would’ve had probably the best grounded storyline of zombies
He wasn’t sure of his work, they had little Element 115 to work with, and no other human subjects because they (Richtofen and Groff, could be wrong about the second name) didn’t want to come to Maxis until they’d successfully moved a walnut by teleportation. Maxis, when he was finally told, basically said it was useless and told them to get back to work. They worked on it in secret, and Richtofen was it’s first, semi-unwilling, subject
@@aidanwhite2894 actually you are right the lore has always be there, but I meant more like from the original time like , they introduced to many other characters and universes, and they made it too easy with all the gum balls nd wonder weapons
That's a lot of lore for a gamemode where you survive endless waves of zombies.
Nazi Zombies has a fucking huge story.

Yes surprisingly if you take a surface level view of the game you get surface level lore from it as well.

not gonna lie had the kept the aliens less prominent and kept the ww2 conspiracy (which gave it the horror feel) it would've been way better
They tried that with WW2 zombies and it fell flat.

To think, it started off so well, but then lost its way after it blew up the setting.
