Other people hear harsh, random noise. I hear a soundtrack to the cosmos being devoured from the inside out.
This was my take:
ua-cam.com/video/qDuFp08G33A/v-deo.html
Not for the feint of heart.
The lyrics on this song are amazing this is a 10 for me I feel like they express the sounds and emotions that I have like no other. The cosmos will devour us all in time, we are nothing, no matter how much we want to be. A black hole will eventually destroy everything and that is what this song is. Live, laugh, love but we are sentient only to suffer the eventual finality of the heat death of the universe and we are powerless in preventing our inevitable demise. The human condition is harsh the truth is hard to swallow. We have hope and that is the only thing that can’t be taken away. Invest in god and the ideal that our spirit transcends this outcome.
black hole whole
Ashen is gonna be a damn monumental album in the genre
@@dylan6996 august 4th
And it is
An absolute Black Hole. Madness how heavy this album is
Coming back a year later. It was
It's so abstract and experimental (just as the visuals), but then 2:38 hits with that wash of melody, and then that slow, nasty, gnarly, T H A L L, evil riff from the last section. Not to mention the freaking Bulgarian choir singing. This is the thing right here!
The Bulgarian Folklore choir is just perfect. Sounds like a soundtrack to the end of the world) Very interesting, I think they outdid themselves this time for sure. T.H.A.L.L!
I dare say, I would almost call this experimenThall metal. Labrythian is definitely easier listening but this one just has a way to pull your attention.
Great editing in this video!
I'd imagine this would be EVEN better in the context of the album
In what way? They rarely have seemless transitions between songs, continous stories in their lyrics or melodic callbacks.
@@MegaLaban12345 because it’s so different for HLB, it’s like a pallet cleanser
@@MegaLaban12345not necessarily transitions but rather the structure of the album can influence how a song hits you
5 months forward, it is lol
@@MegaLaban12345 And Ashen turned out to be a themed album with callbacks and lyrical consistencies ;)
Watching Birb try to figure out musical timings like this gives me life. Great reaction! The singing in the background is Bulgarian Folklor stuff, definitely check it out.
This isn’t thall, this is smashing steel girders with a sledge hammer and recording the noises. What beautiful art.
Delete this. Embarrassing.
T H A L L
the tempo doesn't actually change. just the groove. that's why it feels so strangely spastic but somehow still cohesive. its seriously unreal percussive work. buster knows his shit
as heavy their music is, i think it's also so beautiful at the same time, i can't for their new Album and your reaction to it, if you are gonna make one.
That's the beauty of THALL
It is indescribable
Loved this track. Def my fav of the two so far. The choir, the thall squeals, the absolutely brootal breakdowns. So fucking hype for this album
I love his they’ve kept the black metal influence for the new album. It was one of the main things that drew me to HLB in the first place and it gells unbelievably well with everything else.
HLB never really grabbed me, but this song did. This sounds HUGE! Love the blackened elements in this. The beginning reminds me of Akira. This would be an awesome sound track to the kids unleashing their power. Also cool how the guitars mimic the choir vocals in the beginning.
Curious how it fits in the context of the album.
Thanks for the video 🙏
Instill > Labryinthian
Akira! I couldnt figure out what it reminded me of. Thanks!
That's the Bulgarian choir, the same choir which BMTH sampled for their Parasite Eve song.
These guys never dissapoint me. Everything they do is perfect in my eyes (or ears)
Yes!
I don't know how many people have mentioned this, but the choral segment at the beginning is the bulgarian traditional song Kaval Sviri. Bulgarian choir works so well with metal because choral sections are cool, and the bulgarian choral music is known for its dissonance.
"That's uncomfortable" ❤ I love that
"WTF How did he do that?" - Humanity's Last Breath in a nutshell!!! One of the best bands to ever exist!!!! T H A L L \m/
Im pretty new to metal and this was insane 🔥 I cant wait to see what they experiment with next!!
Way to dive into the deep end!
lol like for real, this is the most extreme metal out there
I just noticed that his Lightstrip in the back interacts with the Music, amazing
This is totally going on my playlist for work, love it 😊
It's crazy because in the past I would avoid a band like HLB like the plague because of how dark the music is, but there is weird beauty in what they do. The song that truly pulled me in to appreciate HLB was Tide and now I'm hooked on whatever this band will create.
Man, HLB is 2/2 right now with these crazy singles, but I gotta give it to "Instill" for pretty much the same reasons you gave. Great video as always man🤙
God I can't fcking wait for Aug 4th its insane, this track is phenomenal, I like Labyrinthian but this one is on another level, for all the reasons you mentionned.
T H A L L
Fun fact: choir vocals were done by Heli Andrea. She does a lot of "odd covers" with Adam Janzi, the drummer of VOLA
You sure? I believe it's sampled from this bulgarian choir piece:
ua-cam.com/video/hVqrW-fPOQ0/v-deo.html
@@mrraimundo130 they even stated it on their bandcamp. Heli did the choir for this song
This is true! Heli is awesome!!
Instill has been stuck in my head for the last couple days since hearing it for the first time
Incredible heaviness. And that choir! Monumental 🔥
Im 40 and have been listening to metal since i was 14. I thought i'd heard it all then this lot come along. Proper end of days, Sam Neill in Event Horizon "then let me show you!" stuff.
The whole album is fire!
Look forward to the rest of the catalog
Since I started listening to metal a year ago every new album has been amazing
The "female vocal effects" are actually sampled from a song. Bulgarian acapella choir, to be exact. Look up "Bulgarian folklor- Kaval sviri" if you're curious enough. You won't regret it. As for this track as a whole? Straight naaaaasty. If this is the direction deathcore is going, I'm here for it!
EDit, because I forgot to say it: I like Instill better, but it builds on the foundation laid out in Labrynthian, so I'm not too surprised that I'd like it more.
its not deathcore... it's T H A L L
It's actually not a sample here, it was all recorded by Heli Andrea :)
@@adamTDE Ah. Still though. They got the tone just right. I got goosebumps all over when it hit.
@@Mr_Bedlam215 Agreed, sounds super sick!
"wtf how'd you do that?!" is the perfect summary for Buster's riffing LMAO
oh this one had me head scratching for sure, super good
HELP ME FIND MY FACE PLEASE HOLY FUCK 04:17
Yep.... Still processing 24 hours later. Absolutely mind blowing!!
This will potentially become my album of the year overcoming Heavener
@Alexander Hume that opinion is mid
This is art.
1:33 this part reminds me of the outro to paradox by Aviana
the bulgarian orchestra!
This band is just so exciting.
#thallmeup
Just dark and brutal Majesty 🖤👑🤘
Daaaamn! This is sick!!!!
Hehe, given that the CEO of Riivata, Tuomas, is now in the band I'm thinking it isn't a wild guess the next HLB video will be made by Riivata too. 😂
You need to check out Callisto Disaster by Hell Let Loose, Aussie deathhore with vocals that resemble Will Ramos of Lorna Shore. Insane song and great music video!!!!!
Hey wait a sec, thats the same chorus sample from Aviana's Paradox!
I love when it slows down to 60 BPM lol
I knew it sounded familiar, aviana - paradox sample?
So much better than Labyrinthian imo, can't wait for the album
Loved both songs but I think I have to choose Instill. This song was something else...
Drummer's really playing around with those dotted 8ths and quarters to create moments of metric modulation... is it 4/4 or 6/8? Heh. Its both at times.
That was irresponsibly heavy.
Thall and Bulgarian folklor music
that ending is sooooo BIG
Behold! Bulgarian folk metal.
This song is liked getting kicked in the teeth. It's so violently heavy.
Verse chorus verse
🤘🏻💯
Those female vocals sound like kaval sviri from Bulgarian folk singing
they sound positively evil
its because they are kaval sviri from Bulgarian folk singing
@lavender haze that's probably why it sounds like kaval sviri from the Bulgarian Orchestra
Actually is a girl that sung that, her name is on the description of the song😂
While Labyrinthian was good, this was even better. The choir was super interesting
Wait I just realized that same choir chant was also used in Aviana Paradox lol
I personally like Instill more, but I am feeling a little underwhelmed with the production. Buster's usually great at handling large amounts of compression, but I think on the new singles it is handled in a way that feels a bit tasteless. Music is still great, and I agree with your positive points.
tasteless?; the fuck are you on about???😐 T H A L L
Dark souls 3 here come. End of people age!
My god, this is evil. Thall
When you listen to the lyrics 0_0
Juvenile, repetitive cringeness. The lyrics are HLBs weakest aspect.
@@MegaLaban12345 your inability to properly interpret and understand the placing of the lyrics is your issue, not the lyricist’s.
@@MegaLaban12345 Disagree, HLB is so heavy that their lyrics fit because they seem like they're coming from something that can actually back those lyrics up. It's cringey listening to some boyband deathcore band singing about how much they hate their ex while growling. To me, HLB sounds like an ancient deity straight out of a Lovecraft novel. "The promise of death forever kept" still destroys from Dehumanize.
Heavy Thall seems redundant
King for a day reaction by pierce the veil
HAHAHAHA
Am I tripping or did Aviana also use a part of this choir as a sample???
Wall of thiiiiiccccc
I enjoyed instill more
Thall.
Blackened thall
This song is definitely better than the last song, I think it’s heavier than the last song.
Song is disgusting man
