A small correction: Sized for my wrist (17cm) it weighs 92g and not 158 as displayed in the video*
Casio could do that for $200. I think it would be successful.
Agree
Casio will never release a sapphire crystal watch for $200. Heck, they won't even do it for $500.
Why not?
Time to rebrand into Casiomod lol
I'm waiting for the brushed steel case to be back in stock and I'll order one.. i already bought the donor watch for it.. hope they make a similar kit for the A500 as well..
Totally agree with you, a full metal A500 would be amazing.
This is the second video I’ve seen of this. And I am arguing with myself everyday on whether I should get it. I do like the gray faceplate though. Thanks for the great review!
I pulled the trigger. Ordered the A168 on Amazon for 20$, The SKX CASE and silver face plate, didn't need the band, I have a million bands that would work, and i purchased some filter film to make the display green, and Im going to do the Hydro mod on it ( Fill it with silicone oil) to make it a dive watch. We'll see how it goes. SKXMOD has a 5$ discount and a 10% off right now, so I got what I wanted for less than 70$ from them, 20$ for the casio, 8$ for the film. So my project will be a bit less than this because I didn't want the band or the back plate, those are optional
@@spudthegreaterusa8386 Very nice. You definitely know more about modding than me. I bought the whole kit, and it turned out pretty good. Might do one for the Casio Royal. Although I just watched Jody review the 35mm PRX Digital, and he got his for less than $150. If I can find one for less than $200, I’m definitely pulling the trigger on that. I know a lot of people don’t like it but, the 35mm looks super cool IMO. I in fact left a comment saying how I spent $150 for a SKXMOD for my A168 so for me a $150 PRX Digital makes perfect sense.
@adk7962 You got me. Hadn't even heard of it. I like it. Its interesting to me to see what people like, how trends for say Gen Z are moving to retro in cars, watches, clothes etc. Just read that last night. I had a very cheap armitron Griffy in Green LED that was as basic as it gets. But I liked the style. A bit bigger would have been better, but it was a no nonsense retro 70's type LED watch. you had to push a button to see anything. Date, time and seconds were all it displayed. Year would come up only in set mode. This Tissot reminds me of retro look of that era.
200$ for steel? What the?
Titanium maybe.
that looks really sharp. I have the bronze case for the Royal, so will probably pick this one up too. Thanks for the video
Oh nice! How's the patina developing so far? Thanks for watching :))
@@TheBoldHairspring the patina is coming nicely. But it has taken 1 year ( not wearing it everyday). It looks really good on a brown Vario strap specifically for this model. It’s a lovely contrast of digital and bronze patina that just works. I used the royale with the slight green/yellowish tint on the display. Can highly recommend
I’m looking forward to getting one of these kits. Nice review.
Thank you :)
Do the hydro mod on it and you'll have a 300 M dive watch.
looks so expensive and luxurious
I am curious if there are any products to add a Casio logo. This would look great if there was an option to add.
Unfortunately, that would cause legal issues with Casio due to copyright.
@@TheBoldHairspring I don’t think that stops anyone on AliExpress. LOL
Very nice and a great idea 😁
Bought one, waiting for it to arrive. Question for you: how do you find the buttons? Are they firm? I have AE-1200/1300 kits and the buttons on them are just too easy to accidentally press and activate.
Hi congrats on purchasing one. In my case accidental presses are literally impossible on both AE1200s that I have and on this one as well. However, the A168 buttons have a bit more resistance to them, so I believe you'll be fine.
why this mod doesn't available in my country? im sad thou 😢
Message them. Perhaps they can help you out :)
@@TheBoldHairspring may i know what website for this mod?
What colour on the faceplate did you choose?
Hi! Mine is the sunburst gun metal.
Is it the silver sunburst or black sunburst?
@@TheBoldHairspringI want to get the silver sunburst but, your version is giving me second thoughts…
@@pellelarsson6887 Video has gunmetal. I think I'd prefer to see the silver.
It looks like a sunburst gunmetal plate with white letters. Wasn’t it?
Yes 😊
Can I just replace just face plate and case on the a168, or is the watch face stuck to the strap like other casio watches.
Yes, you can 👍🏻
@@TheBoldHairspring thanks for the reply! That brings the cost down to $80, which is much more manageable.
@@bax9 yes and you can purchase the bracelet later on if you decide so.
ha, only the real Casio does that stupid shit.
Где взять такое ? И входит ли сам модуль в комплект ?
Hi! Check the link in the description.
Does my S.K.Mei 1123 fit inside?
no
I don't think so.
I love casio but can't stand the hair-pulling on those cheap steel bracelets. Good thing they sell skxmod parts separately online, will be getting a bracelet for sure.
so its a mod?
Yes :)
Casio already do this, it's called the A1000
Yes but the A1000 lacks a sapphire crystal and its bracelet is pretty bad. For the money it's alright though.
@@TheBoldHairspring I have the gold variation with the brown face and mesh bracelet. I find the bracelet is excellent at the price point.
@@LamarFaciane the mesh bracelet is definitely the better choice.
a1000 is kinda ugly. I think this is a better option.
Design is too plain tho
No,it's better,it's cleaner and more elegant
@@deanwaller8283no its not. Also too expensive for a cheap looking design
@@epahsantiagowrong on every single count, this is a £200 digital equivalent to the Rolex explorer, except it's tougher, more accurate, more robust and is way more functional
@@deanwaller8283 I see if you put it that way then I guess its worth it. Thank you!
