I bought the squire when it came out ...man..it was awesome right out of the box. I love it. The neck is a little whippy but the overall build quality and sound is really top rate. I'm glad I got one while I could.
got a mystic seafoam toronado squier lst week and not being the smoothest neck i played on a guitar it is the smoothest squier/fender neck i've played on. Due to the gibson schale of the guitar, the body thru strings and the bone nut i highly reccomend you to mount a set of 10-46 (for standard E tuning) and lube the bone with a bit of graphite to improve tuning and chord stability, i've mounted a set of steel uncoated 10-46 and the guitar got a craaaazy sustain, in fact whoever did the nut for my specific unit did carved the holes for 10-46 set, they sitted perfectly
Very cool song with great playing, not sure what sound to choose or even what colour, both are superb, the Fender a tad brighter. You got the best of them!
Well... They're not bad actually. Maybe a touch noisy but I also play with a lot of gain. To be honest... It's about the most comfortable neck I've ever played. And it's a 9 1/2 radius. 24 3/4 inch rather than the standard 25 1/1 like most fenders
@@jimmypennell8831 OK. Which would you say would be closer to a vintage low/mid output PAF tone the stock ones or Seymours? I’m looking for possible reasonable priced lower gain alternatives to the stock ones. Thanks
If you change the pickups to be the same and measure the pickup height to be the same, I bet no one would notice a difference sonically. Now how they play and look is a different thing.
Nop not really. On the body yes, but not the screws for the pickups -> 3 on the Fender and 2 on the Squier. I think you can see what I mean on the video :)
@@FrenchGuitarGuy awesome thank you, I’m building a toronado but I can’t find the squire bridge so I was going to use the fender, the only difference I can see so far is the fender has 5 screws compared to the squires 4
GREAT Guitar , I compared it with my Les Paul Custom and had the same punch but, every second song I had to retune it, typical Squire tuning problems.I will have to invest extra 150 for good tuners.,
Squier tuners are 14:1 ratio. I don't have a problem with the ones on my CV 50s Tele. I mean, you could spend $45 for a set of Fender tuners to get a 16:1 ratio, but likely, just a set up is all you would need to fix that.

Yep, plus it's a great looking guitar!
@@FrenchGuitarGuy you got that right!!

That's very nice! Thanks a lot for those kind words :)
I had a graffiti yellow Fender Toronado that i sold about 20 years ago. Still kicking myself.
What a great tone out of these.
Thanks a lot!
Dude stop liking my comments lmao... then I watch the video again and have that song in my head for hours
😂
Ahahah not a problem for me! 🤷♂️😄
Ok then... make a new badass song
Working on it 🙂
That squier knocks it out of the park. Really impressive they got it so close to the fender original
Yep, it's a really great guitar, I love it!
Love the playing and sound bro
Thanks a lot!
Hmm, the Squier one sound like more full sometimes, the Fender one is more sparkling, more "Fender tone" if you will. But I guess both are amazing :)
Yep I agree the Fender is brighter, more “Fender”. The Squier is like a Seymour Duncan SH-4 on a budget (in a good way).
Awesome song bro!
The Fender sounds a tad brighter but nothing that couldn't be sorted out with an EQ pedal on the Squier. Nice playing Edouard!
Thanks a lot!
i have an 03 toronado. favourite guitar i own.
Cool! What color?
@@FrenchGuitarGuy cherry red with a black pick guard and knobs.
Awesome! The prettiest of the series
I like where the switch is
I'd love it more if it had more chrome
And fat block inlays
@@jharvey433 Yep block inlays is life.. and matching headstock too
I got a black one. Love it. I'm going to put a JB and 59 or a Jazz pickup in. Maybe a P90 in the neck. That would be super 😎
Cool project 👌
Did you swap? What is it you don't like about stock ones, and how would the Seymour's be different?
Well... They're not bad actually. Maybe a touch noisy but I also play with a lot of gain. To be honest... It's about the most comfortable neck I've ever played. And it's a 9 1/2 radius. 24 3/4 inch rather than the standard 25 1/1 like most fenders
The Duncans might give you a touch more sustain and articulation

Yup!
Is that bridge the same size for both?
Yep, the Fender bridge have one more screw (in the middle) than the Squier one
Fender. Hands down.
Tones are very comparable. How would compare the fit and feel while playing?
They are the same!
For what you pay there is not enough difference to justify the extra money. When you’re on stage in a mix nobody will notice a difference.
Anyone know if Squier’s stock pickups have extra wires so they can be coil split?
Yeah, they are 4 wire.
Thanks for your answer!
Do you happen to know the values on the Volume and Tone pots of the Fender? are they 250k or 500k?
500k !
Hi! Do you think the pickguards have the same screw location?
Nop not really. On the body yes, but not the screws for the pickups -> 3 on the Fender and 2 on the Squier. I think you can see what I mean on the video :)
If you think these are badass, I own the GT version that come out around 2006. Fucking thing is an absolute monster!
Is it possible to change neck on squier???
If the new neck is the same scale, yes of course
Are the bridges in the same location and same size?
Yep

The Fender is warmer and more tube like
I personally find it more brighter

wow there is a deference the fender is just a bit better
A little better for me too but it depends on each person's taste 🙂
Certainly not enough diff in tone to justify Fender$$!!
fender wins
