    is it possible that you made a mistake in your simulation?i think you aplied the force and the fixture to the whole surface, in reality when you put a bolt to the hole the force would be only transmitted by the part of the surface witch is unter presure, there couldnt be any pulling forces. this would increase the stress on the outer part of the ring. Im not sure if im right, i could be that solid works acumilates for this, just something i noticed and wondered about

      @cai876 8 років тому +6

      You're definitely right. By reducing the outer diameter he is making a dangerous modification which will reduce the strength of the component. A fact that was iterated several times during an FEA course during my engineering masters was that incorrect use of FEA software is dangerous because it will only ever test what you simulate. This video highlights the need for correct simulations and testing a manufactured part before using it in the real world.

      cai876 That's why we have safety factor. Any designer knew that, you can't just take it for granted when you're trying to do any modification on your product, especially critical items. For me, simulation is one of the tools to help us to make decisions in our designs and need to combine the other tools such as calculations and field test to deign a safe product.

    Very Nice. How would I figure a high pressure vessel with this technology. I have a model. I want to know if it will
    fail at 25 K PSI at different points. Also, How would like to mount a pressure transducer and electron beam weld it to give me a linear response on the sensor on this model. I would to convert High Pressure to a Electrical output. I need to learn how to model this. Is there any examples this type of design. phil

    6:40 what do you mean by the normal 2 direction?

    • @HenkOlss
      @HenkOlss 6 років тому +1

      "normal to ... direction " the direction is perpendicular to the surface the force is applied.

    I am confused. Why are the stresses not symmetrical? They almost certainly should be. Ignoring acceleration as this simulation obviously does, if the model is symmetrical then so should the stresses if forces are applied equally. Can someone correct me please.

    • @kalkhasse
      @kalkhasse 6 років тому

    Hi, I've an issue concernig applied forces. It seems that model deformation doesn't depends on applied force because I have the same result applying 1N or 1000N. Of course the values on the scale changes, but the model deformation is always the same... Am I doing something wrong...??? thanks in advance for your HELP!

    • @jollyjumper3333
      @jollyjumper3333 8 років тому +1

      Leiato33 solidworks changes the multiplier of the deformationstudy automaticly as Default. you Can Change the multiplier to your prefered Value in the settings of the deformationstudy studie

    • @napischu
      @napischu 9 років тому

      Santhosh Kumar I guess you've figured it out by now. But you sketch a half-circle. You then go ahead and use the revolve Boss function to rotate it using the line splitting the full circle as your axis.
