Maybe not my most SENSIBLE Race decision. But mid Arc Of Attrition I was a desperate man and decided to try out (for the first time) these Inov-8 Trailflys 🔥To skip to the point.. they-saved-my-RACE! 8:30 🌟
They’re really good on mud! I’d say they’re not the most comfortable shoes though.. personally I wouldn’t want to do more than 50 miles in them .. like any other shoe in super icey conditions you’ll still have to attach springs or spikes.. hope this helps ❤️
@@ActiveIdeas the race is only 12km/8miles. I have spikes already. Thanks for the answer, I am probably going to get them because where I live it's a mix of paved roads and easy trails like gravel paths and forest paths. I have no use for mud only running shoes.
@Marek-td7wq yeah, they are the perfect hybrid shoe actually.. like you say.. perfectly blend into the trail/tarmac routes .. good luck with your race!! 🔥 😍
They are okay actually! Upon reflection though…I’m struggling to get miles in these.. they’re not as comfortable as some of the other shoes I have tested on this channel such as the Nike Zegama, Nike Wildhorse, Salomon Genesis to name a few ❤️
Yeah mate! I don’t know how people use these on hard trails.. for me there’s not enough cushioning at all.. especially for distances above 30 miles… this is the shoe that Jack Scott won the 268 mile spine race in so maybe I’m just abit of a wuss 🤣
Thanks for the comment mate ❤️ The only Hoka’s I’ve tried are the Machs, I was super impressed with the comfort and responsiveness.. but within 3 months they fell apart… so I haven’t bought any since. I’ve heard/seen lots of reports to do with hoka durability… but I’d love to try out more of their models, especially the speedgoats.. stay tuned!

@@ActiveIdeas so far so good with mine. The grip is so good that I wore them in the snow and didn’t slip! I have bad knees and the cushion/bounce helps.
I wore them for the first 40 miles, but my feet got really wet/soaked because of bogs so switched into Nike trails for something dry. Then eventually switched to Inov8 to finish off as I was slipping over and needed more grip than Nike. 🌟 3 weeks ago I did the Sherwood Pikes Back Yard Ultra and ran 100 miles without any shoe changes, kept the Genesis on the whole time :) Hope this helps 🔥
The Salomons I got have a Size up from my true to size (highly recommend you do this if not used to Salomon). Extremely comfortable and I have prefer them to the Inov8 in almost every factor tbh. Inov8 is probably a much better performance shoe but I’m not at that level of fitness and if I was looking for performance I’d choose the Salomon Pulsar 3’s (just released) as I found them more comfortable. I guess the unique factor of the Inov8 is that they’re a cool shoe that can be used both for training and serious racing with a long shelf life

Bring on the new 2024 Trailfly speed V3 🙈 .. but what weight will they be? 270 280 300 or something else? 🔥
🔥🔥🔥 I’ve got a neeeed for speeeed
Trailfly speeds out today, I bought a pair this morning, they are already sold out in many sizes
@nigelb1851 yeah I saw! I’m gutted, completely sold out in size 9 and 9.5.. let me know what they’re like 🔥
Great video. What are they like in mud? I am going to take part in a mountain race in December, where the path is often muddy or covered with snow.

What were they like for drainage and drying out between wet/muddy sections?

@@ActiveIdeas Thanks for the reply, appreciate it!
Of course mate! Best of luck ❤️
I thought these shoes were built for hard pack trails but you seemed to feel it was better on the softer stuff?

Are you familiar with Hoka speedgoat 5? If so how do they compare to these? The speedgoat have really good grip too and good cushion.

@anthonyrampino7734 just had a look and the speedgoats are on sale 😍 I’m sold 🔥
@@ActiveIdeas let me know how you like them! Good luck’
How come you didnt wear the salomon genesis for AOA?

@@ActiveIdeas nice. thanks for the reply! how's the grip and fit of the Salomons compared to the 270s? did you get the same size in both?

Bro the production quality on your videos is insane!!
Ahh lad, that means a lot coming from you! 🔥👊🏽 Any plans to make a return to UA-cam?
@@ActiveIdeas probably not bro to be honest. Too many woke cancel culture unicorns out there these days for my liking!
@kalclashfitness I feel your fear! 🤣🤣 We treading on eggshells over here 😉
