- 1977, Philadelphia at the Bijou Café. Taped for Showtime and entitled "No Cover, No Minimum" #peterallen #judygarland #lizaminnelli #boyfromoz #musicals #hughjackman #bicoastal #australia
I read they played this at JOAN RIVERS funeral as well. I met Joan and Peter. Peter performed at STUDIO 54 and I got to speak with him. I even got to play the piano that he played that night! It was special because the clientele stood and listened quietly to Peter's performance. Of course I had to play OVER THE RAINBOW... Thank you Peter for the gifts you gave me. I still cherish them, always. You are missed.
Probably the best advice ever wss given by Joan Ruversr, " I'm not going to tell you it gets better, because it doesn't get better. You get better. "
❤
Sounds like .me 😂🎉😢😮😅😊
The man was a superstar. Saw him at Melb Hilton, outstanding.
How can one possibly understand the Genius that was Peter Allen? A complicated man who just wanted to experience all life had to offer and boy did he live it large and well. He put some of it into song that will last until Eternity.
Dusty Springfield was in concert at the royal albert hall and she sang this song! The crowd gave her a standing ovation! It was beautiful❤
She also sang it at Drury Lane earlier the same year
I love that video of Dusty on UA-cam
Watch it all time time
Peter Allen was more than a singer/songwriter....he was the consummate performer and entertainer...he was best appreciated live and I saw him numerous times.
To an Aussie this means so much! Tenterfield is a lovely town on the inland New England Highway between Sydney and Brisbane.
One of the most underrated under acclaimed writers the world has seen. I wish we could bring back his music to the world.
We had the pleasure of seeing Peter Allen 4 times in The City, (San Francisco) in the late 60s and the 70s. I was emotionally drained after his performances. Incredible and Powerful energy he throws out to his audience. Rest In Eternal Peace Dear Man. 🙏🏾❤️🌈💙😇
RIP Judy and Peter thank you both for the music..
Gone too soon
He was a talent not to be reckoned with. Writing, and delivering the song.
My Mum took me along to see Peter Allen onstage in Melbourne in the mid 80's. I am so glad that She did and I feel honoured to have had this privilege to witness his magic, even though I was a teenager at the time, I still knew that He was special. There are some songs that give me goose bumps and bring tears to my eyes. He truly and forever is The Boy From Oz. Love 'im. xo
May He RIP
I too saw him at Melb Hilton. He was brilliant!
Thanks for this beautiful song, Peter. May they both rest peacefully xxx
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
Peter Allen forever captivating, luckily first experienced Peter Allen at private intro at Troubadour of Bette Midler to West Coast press and Peter was opener, had no idea what he was like but immediately audience realize they were seeing someone really special and he tore the house down, don't think after that key performance Peter Allen ever opened for anyone again, clearly watching this great performance doing one of his classics nobody compared, miss him always as the joy he brought to audience was incredibly special...gone way too soon
What did he die of and how old was he then ? Tq
@@shirleycameron7718 He sadly died from AIDS
@@shirleycameron7718 His life was not a happy life, listen to the words of Tenterfield saddler. That’s a short autobiography. The girl with the unusual face is Lisa Minnelli ( Judy Garlands daughter) . Died of AIDS in the 80’s he was 43 I think but it is easy to check . Liza Minnelli and he were always close. A totally brilliant & unique performer and songwriter.. “I still Call Australia Home” is the only that always affects me emotionally .
❤
@@beagle7622 He was 48. 😄
Quiet please, there is two memorable singers on the stage which did amazing things
This song was also done at Eileen Heckart’s funeral, as her son mentioned it in her biography. Great tribute to a great actress.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
Judy Garland and Peter Allen were bright lights to humanity gone too soon!
Love you both Judy and Peter! You both are dearly missed. I love you Peter, "I honestly love you."
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
Bravo génial Peter !!! Tu nous manques ! Ton talent, ta passion, ton investissement fabuleux. So great you are, BOY FROM OF OZ !
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
This was on the "It is Time For Peter Allen" album, which I bought back in '77 as it came out. Recorded there live as well, before I knew he had been married to Liza. FANTASTIC song!
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
You can tell Peter honestly loved Judy and had a real respect for her. My mum was a huge Judy fan, growing up in Aus we watched together every musical she was in. Peter is a beautiful singer and writer, even now when we hear the song, “I Still Call
Australia Home” he wrote, many of us still get emotional. Another fav he wrote that Olivia Newton John sang, “I honestly Love You”
another of his songs with heart touching lyrics. They are together now, but we can still hear them both 💞
He had so much love to give maybe to much.
He was a great singer RIP
Never saw or heard this before. Surprisingly, it made me cry.
They don't do entertainers like this anymore.
Yep...fantastic".
I love Liza Judy & Peter. I married a man to try & live be normal. Didn't work out that way. I tried to lie to myself & think God would fix me at the altar. It was a part of coming out for me. Had many friends who did the same.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
Hats off to you peter Allen , beautiful song 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Quiet please, there's a lady on stage.
She may not be the latest rage,
But she's singing, and she means it.
And she deserves a little silence.
Quiet please, there's a woman up there,
And she's been honest through her songs
Long before your consciousness was raised.
Now doesn't that deserve a little praise.
So put your hands together, help her along,
All that's left of the singers, all that's left of the song.
Stand for the ovation,
And give her one last celebration.
Quiet please, there's a person up there,
Who's singing of the sins that none of us could bear
To hear for ourselves,
Now give her your respect if nothing else.
So put your hands together, help her along,
All that's left of the singers, all that's left of the song.
Rise to the occasion,
And give her one last celebration.
Quiet please, there's a lady on stage.
Conductor, turn the final page.
When it's over, we can all go home.
She lives on on the stage alone.
So put your hands together, help her along,
All that's left of the singers, all that's left of the song.
Stand for the ovation,
And give her one last celebration.
Put your hands together, help her along,
Let's just stay here all night; let's sing every song.
Won't you rise, rise to the occasion,
Yes, give her, one last, just one last celebration.
Marvelous -
Beautiful song.
Stand for the ovation.
Thank you Universe for them both x
I love Peter Allen! He's total fabulosity!
*tears up ;_;
This was from a PPV on Philly Cable Always reminded of his performances at the Colonial in Toronto
Never saw this man live but what a entertaner
My favourite song it's like his wonderful way too express his love for Judy which maybe in their friendship he never got the full chance too tell her how much she meant too him.
So great
Judy was like my dad the greatest rip nnorable greatness miss you so much that it hurts all my love annie
Madonna rework this please, keep Peter Allen's talent, mix the words to the first person, keep the humility which goes without saying but include your innate drive, ambition to entertain, and sheer euphoria YOU feel each time you create a ""' ""' musical thread that helps keep THIS Floating Orb energised and happy. THANK. :D
Love so much
This was also sung at Eileen Heckart's service, according to what I have read.
I saw Peter Allen a number of times at the Concord Hotel in the Catskills Great Performer they had great shows there but sadly like Peter it it’s no longer there
My bro once wrote Pete a fan letter back in early 80's. He never got a reply. His letter included lyrics and chords to a song my bro wrote called "Is you. Or isn't you? "
I forgot to add that all don't want to be forgotten to 😅😊🎉
Genius.
RIP 🎻🌻🙏🏻
Joy Behar mentioned this song on "The View" today, November 18, 2022.
Simple music can make you sing simple hug can make you feel better simple things can make you happy, i hope my simple Hello brings smile to your face ..
Hugh Jackman sang this at Joan Rivers funeral. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house
He was married to Judy's daughter Liza
Why?
There was a caring relationship between Peter Allen and Liza Minelli
I thought he was.......bi coastal
❤️💔
😊
Now 'aint that the truth! xxx
Judy Garland was actually his ex- mother in law .
Know it wasn't an intentional tribute, but it might as well have been!
It was an intentional tribute. He was briefly married to Liza M.
@@splinky45 Peter conceived the idea for the song at Brothers & Sisters cabaret in NYC during a performance by Julie Wilson. He realized later that it was a perfect tribute to his Mother in Law.
oh' what happened today cignal
Why did he marry Liza if he was gay? Maybe he was bi? I know its personal but I was always curious. Did he try to go straight? Her Mom married Liza's Dad who was gay as well. I dont get it. Curious what your opinions are.
Christine Coca In an earlier message you said you yourself married hoping you would be ‘fixed at the altar”. Maybe Peter felt the same? It also wasn’t easy for performers to come out as gay at the time. Apparently, Peter felt able to do this in the 1970s and go on to have a same-sex partner after divorcing Liza.
@Ed Miller they should just enjoy the music
Enjoy Peter's music and listen to the words . He was a storyteller in every song he wrote and performed. Olivia took his song I Honestly love you and made it her own. The words came from a guy that had music in his soul and entertaining in his every fibre. RIP Peter. Your music will live on.
Lol....not a truer word said !!!
Cant sing dusty sang it much better
Sorry but I just don't get it. Mediocre vocals at best. Not a dancer. Seems a bit self-indulgent. Why spend money on that ticket?
Didn't Peter Allen hold the record for SOLD-out shows at Radio City Music Hall?
@Ed Miller sad people not worth wasting any time on, loved Peter Allen concerts ultimate performer
@Ed Miller Because I happened upon it. my "dance card" was light, and I exercised my right and ability to render my opinon...just like millions of other people on UA-cam. Of course my next assessment is for an arrogant ass-clown who thinks it is his place to question that activity. We can certainly agree to disagree and we clearly have completely different measurements of talent, but this IS a public forum. Now, any other ignorant questions that answer themselves before they even leave your fingertips on the keyboard?
@Ed Miller completely, listening to Peter now at Radio City Music Hall same show with camel on stage as The Pantages in LA, mostly enjoyed him in small venues through the years
@@dzignbloc5011 Yes Peter record holder for RCMH they kept adding performances, sensational show youtube posted watching it now!
