If you're in developper mode which can be enabled from the options, in order to disable access to the camera and mic for whatever apps to use them in the background and without your knowlege (for security measures), then the autorotate function doesn't work at all. "The "Senrors Off" icon disables all sensors, including the rotation.
Same here. They say "press auto rotate" as if I didn't think about that already. Then "turn your phone off and on again" and if none of these things work apparently it's something you've done and it's your fault but we can't tell you how to fix it.
For me it was the 3 min33s fix that worked. Drag down home screen to see the icons for torch, WiFi etc and ensure rotate is blue rather than grey. This seems to override any settings elsewhere i.e. if it is off here, it doesn’t matter what you have set it as elsewhere.

Samsung phones are generic garbage. Stupid keyboard. No auto correct. Flippy weird screens. Endless customizations that older people can’t figure out.
