So after hearing so many people talk so poorly about wpl for so long I started watching videos on them. Then kinda fell in love with the size and mods that could be done to them. So I ordered one just after Christmas. It should be here in a few weeks. I did go with the KM kit and I went with an aftermarket transmitter, esc and batteries but that's because I have a few others trucks your responsesable of me ordering. And I feel like if I'm going to do it I want to have the same transmitter in my hand for every model. I'll let you know how it all turns out. Didn't know you had a drawling going on for wpl but I got me covered. There is far more people out there that would be better off winning that. Good on you for taking care of your subs and WPL. Cheers mate.
Yes, WPL didn't have a good name a little while back, but they have been working really hard to get things right. I love that they keep on improving things.
Interesting project. Should be interesting to see how this goes. If you do make it 6 wheel drive, you should go the extra step and make it 6 wheel steer as well, lol. That would be something to see.

Didn't think the lack of noise would bother me but oddly it does, don't know why but I like the sounds crawlers make, almost as if its the "strain" sort of noise as its trying to eek its way across whatever you throw at it .
Very interesting project, great idea, maybe flip the motor, so shaft points to front, mount in the bed, with a faux generator cover, that way you could even gear the transfer case ?? As opposed to drive shaft. Would love to see that motor in a d12 chassis, with a C54 body on it.... Drag/drift build...
Mini summit Trans could be an option for a transmission, quite small, fits that fusion, 2 gearing options in the Trans without buying any parts, 4mm output shafts. I used one to make a powered trailer to go actual crawling with it.
Great project Bro!! I like a lot it is so quite ( silence), and overpowered!! Yeahh!! Very nice motor. You can do this thing Boom Bro! Have a great weekend Yeaah!!
GREAT idea trying direct drive on a Hobbywing ROC system but alas, maybe that truck just isn't the right configuration for that idea. I hope you get it sorted with a transfer case but boy, that silence was damned NICE!
Put this in the b36 with the trailer.. you only have to put the 5th wheel on.. don't need 6x6 for that trailer due to how long and low it is makes offroad impractical
My suggestion would be to go for a wpl B36 truck instead so you can install a gear box to have 6x6 and if the motor needs to be installed at a higher position it can be hidden under the closed box the B36 has :)
I just bought a HW Fusion motor for my trx4 sport - its ridiculous how quiet it is and how it performs . Wow...just wow...great idea for the vid Phil ☺
Interesting project! I think driveshaft problem aside, you might need lower KV ideally too, 1800KV is quite a lot for direct drive. Having a huge RPM range squashed into the same throttle travel, it can be hard to make smooth/slow progress without any reduction gearing and only the diffs. I tried a 900KV outrunner centrally mounted in an HSP truck a while back with drive going direct to the front and back diffs and even at 900KV it went like a rocket without the reduction gearing. Slower motor or transfer box would probably help a lot. Surprising how much difference losing the drive to the front wheels too!
Pretty fantastic work, dude! Nicely done! 😃 There are the bigger geared motors from WPL... You know? Their mounting are aluminum and they just use 2 or 3 gears, if I'm not mistaken, to transfer the motion. So... Maybe you could modify one of those? You could put even in a 4x4 to try. 😃 Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Hey tomley, which one should i get : WPL B16 (stock 130 motor) or MZ YY2003 (stock 380 motor) ? . The WPL is slightly more expensive. But i know that you didn't really like the toy grade wheels on the MZ so i don't know which one to get.
insanity for sure, MN's 260 motor+gearbox with a 280 motor slapped in is nice, the 2 speed or the countering gearbox with a 370 motor is far more than enough. if you could find a low Kv 24 mm motor to slip into any of the gearboxes above, it'd probably tow a small child on a tricycle anyway
@@TomleyRC LOLOMGROFL... just use two double shaft 775 motors and bolt the wheels on them direct drive, it'd be about the right width hey? 775 is about the size of the Graupner 700 Turbo motor I replaced in the old ElectroVee, was pretty fast on 14.4v but much more fun now with a 2300kv 3670 brushless. might need wings to hold the truck down after 20 mph and it'd probably be a 60 mph 4x6 if you could find someplace large+smooth enough to run it.. it might even keep up with scale dragsters.
