I have exactly the same bait cooler! Works great. I like the top storage compartment .

I've never used the top, can't think of anything to put in there lol, But it is a perfect bait cooler for a day trip for sure.

if crack is running crack, drill hole at both ends of crack and weld or whatever sealant you use. drill just bugger than size of crack. I just watched a body mechanic telling this last week. he said it stops crack from going any further. Good luck brother, hope it helps.

Thanks bud, It does work. I've used the same technique on my drum cymbals when they have cracked.

Drill a hole in the end of the crack in your hull. It will stop it from spreading. Then make your repair.

    • @JonBoatRiverCats

I've done that with drum cymbals, just never tried it on the boat.

@@JonBoatRiverCats If you are not worried about looks, stop your crack with the holes then pop rivet a patch on the outside, "gasket" sealed with 3M 4200. Aluminum/aluminum mandrel rivet of course, then buck them down flat. (I even have one patch sealed with blue RTV LOL I shouldn't laugh, it has held for years)
Anything small or hard to patch, a lot of times plain old JB weld will hold if there is no flex in that part of the hull.
They also make brazing rods that work well but there is a bit of a learning curve to using them, the aluminum has to be real clean and you have to get the heat just right. Too hot burns a hole, not hot enough will not melt the rod good enough to stick. Practice on something else first.
Check the OG rivets and rebuck as needed. -8 times out of 10 a couple whacks will stop the seep.
There is also a runny epoxy called Gluvit you can seal the OG rivets with but that is better after you have rebucked and in places that are hard to get too such as under the floor of a larger boat, as insurance.

@@JonBoatRiverCats Shop hard, as you have seen, pandemic pricing is still with us.
But until then, you could likely get budget fixes done for around $50 and in about the time it would take 2 to drink a case of beer. Water in my Jon boat that I didn't drag in with a fish drives me nuts. LOL

I hate big boats.. I got a 17.5 tracker and still worry a lot on big lakes because those boats create giant waves. Stay safe out there 👍🏼

    • @JonBoatRiverCats
      @JonBoatRiverCats  2 роки тому

Yeah, especially when you get caught with a big wave on the back of the boat. they should enforce stricter rules for boats that intentionally make big wakes. It's not safe for smaller vessels.

  • @WV_Cat_Daddy

Definitely would get in trouble lol. I leave mine at home when I fish for that reason. I just cuss at em or flip em off usually the double bird. The supra wake boat in my last vid when back and forth about 5 times and loaded the back of my boat with water while I was pulled up on the bank. They honestly do it on purpose I'm convinced.

Problem is, it's a private lake that only allows people who live within the lake community to have boats on the water. So, if you know someone on that lake that has a boat, you're set, but if you don't know anyone there you can't even get in.
