Please remember sugar ray Leonard ducked Marvin hagler forever before retirement, then returned when Marvin had become an easier prospect for him. He is an all time great but he ducked a fight he should not have, and although Jon Jones is the biggest let down in mma history and owes the fan base a lot, and the fighters he steam rolled on his road to glory, because they could have at least been a part of his road to GOAT status. Of which he will never reach. Sadly, because he was going to be. He hasn't ducked anyone ever, and deserves that respect. But not a great deal more.

Hiring Richard Schaefer might work, as part of a larger strategy of negotiating a new UFC contract for 4 or 5 fights with incentives based on PPV numbers and maybe also on victories. So Jon might only get $10 mil against Ngannou, but if he wins AND the PPVs hit a certain threshold his subsequent fights get way more $$$ lucrative.
Then Richard's job becomes getting Jones doing media properly which will get the PPV numbers up there. After Richard split from Golden Boy, he went and turned Floyd Mayweather into the world's TRUE PPV king. Before Floyd worked with Richard Schaefer, he was just a mouthy punk who only wanted to talk about how he was the GOAT, but nobody cared. Sound familiar?
