I first saw Rush in 1979 on their Permanent Waves tour....Awesome! And a little known but up and coming band Blackfoot opened for them, great concert!!
Great reaction Stan! I have seen Rush 10+ times live in concert and they were always amazing. Neil Peart was a joy to watch, and I still get goose bumps watching live videos of them in concert. If you really want to see an amazing percussionist, take a listen to "Xanadu" live during the "Exit Stage left" tour.
💥THE GIRL WHO LISTENED TO RUSH💥 From the back of the stadium She’s easy to see Standing up at the stage In her Starman tee From Anthem to Limelight To YYZ She’s the girl who listened to Rush And all of the rockers And all of the heshers Well they dreamed of the day That they might get her And drive her away In a Red Barchetta She’s the girl who listened to Rush Philosophers and ploughmen They can’t resist her call They cannot choose Not to decide So they've got no choice at all They've gotta love her No she doesn’t say "Pert" And she doesn’t say "Part" Yeah, she knows it’s "Neil Peert" ‘Cause he’s close to her heart Say a prayer for John Rutsey He was there at the start She’s the girl who listened to Rush Philosophers and ploughmen They can’t resist her call They cannot choose Not to decide So they've got no choice at all They've gotta love her Why don’t girls ever listen to Rush? But she listened to Rush! The blacksmith and the artist They can’t resist her call You cannot choose Not to decide So you’ve got no choice at all No you’ve got no choice at all You’ve gotta love her #RushRules #RushOn Love it, Stan!!! 👍🏻 💜💫✌🏼🎵
I think that stereotype of the geeky nerdy Rush fanboy is true, but there are loads of ardent female Rush fans and Sandy Halper was the first person to get them radio exposure in the U.S., I believe. She’s a big part of the Rush story.
This song is what made me love Rush and became my favorite band of all time! I was lucky to see them once in 2015 on their 40th anniversary tour in Toronto Ontario Canada. My Dad bought the tickets for me and my identical twin brother. What an amazing show! RIP NEIL PEART!!!
For me, the song was the beginning track of the 2112 Overture. I remember being probably...10? If that? It was summer in the 80s, I was in the backyard playing with my dog. We had the screen door open to the house, so I could hear my older brother in there. He was about 16 at the time, and he cranked up RUSH: 2112 on my dad's stereo system. I remember just stopping in place in the backyard, transfixed by the song, thinking "what the hell is THIS?!" I listened for a few minutes, and then ran inside, grabbed a blank cassette tape from our collection, and stopped his RUSH tape. He was in the other room, probably getting high now that I look back on it, and was mad, yelling "why'd you turn it off?!" I pointed to my own tape in the double deck stereo. "I'm making my own copy of this, I like it!" He just kind of stopped and was like "....oh....well ok then....carry on!" Because he liked it when I liked his music. So he couldn't really complain much after that 🤣 Been a lifelong RUSH fan ever since.
STAN, My favorite Reactor: Rush, born in our neighbors to the Great North, Canada. As good as all the musicians in the band are, what stands out to me, is the Lead singer. I've seen a documentary about Rush, their tours, all the pre-concert efforts, the actual performance, and getting ready to leave for another road tour. I wish I could've had the chance to see them Live in Concert.
There will never be another band like Rush. I’m sorry you never got to see them live. I’ve been to many of their shows including a front row seat experience that I will never forget. Miss them so much
@@cocoboobenstein THANK YOU for your comment to me. While attending University, My 2 roommates were Hockey players from Canada. That was probably my real introduction to Rush, from those guys from our Hockey team. You were lucky to see them, and especially up front of the stage. I remember hearing that they were coming to the Twin Cities, maybe St. Paul. But it's a LONG drive, and I always had to work. Again, thanks, and Best Wishes!
You need the lyrics dude. The music is only half the equation with this band. I’ve heard a lot of great “music” in my day but this is actual literary art. A whole new level.
If you went to High School in Toronto in the 70s this song resonates. It actually has more meaning now that I'm in my 60s than it had all those years ago.
STAN, check out the Rush documentary, Beyond the Lighted Stage. Its very revealing and I think you will really enjoy learning more about their incredible story.
Please react to more RUSH. (It'll bring in a lot of views.) I suggest: - 2112 (the entire song) - La Villa Strangiato - Xanadu - The Twilight Zone - Passage to Bangkok - Circumstances (the audio version) - Something For Nothing - The Trees - Natural Science - Witch Hunt - Red Barchetta 💜💫✌🏼🎵
Love your RUSH reactions! Glad you enjoy and "Get it." As for 2112, (Twenty-one twelve) it's basically a mini Rock Opera, like Tommy or Jesus Christ Superstar only with the RUSH power and magic put to it. It's a series of mini songs combined under the umbrella of the overall name 2112. It got me hooked on them when it came out and (I) was just a 16 year old goofy kid. Blew me away. Glad to be able to say that they "blew me away" many times hence and that I am now considered a "goofy" senior citizen who still is a big fan of RUSH. Anyway, keep it up!
Please, personally i beg you to watch the full 20min version. This one may get blocked so if you choose this version, you should watermark the video or soneyhing ua-cam.com/video/w5jwxrTqoEA/v-deo.html I picked this video because it is easy to get distracted by the music and miss out on the story and the story is equally great. 😁👌 Happy to hear that you're listening to some Rush on the back end and watching some videos Beyond the lighted stage is a great documentary if you haven't watched it already. It is definitely a great way to get to know the guys better I would also recommend Rush live in Rio for concerts or exit stage left
Probably in my top 5 Rush songs….great commentary on cliques & conforming to society’s ills 🤘🏽🤓🤘🏽

As a teen...in the 'burbs...in the '80s, this song hit hard.
🥰 Yaaaaaas! More Stan reactions to Rush! 🤗 Cool Beans! 😁🐰
Bravo, dude! The Signals tour was my first Rush concert......
😊 I love how Happy Rush makes you! 🤗 It's so cute! 😁🐰
💥THE GIRL WHO LISTENED TO RUSH💥
From the back of the stadium
She’s easy to see
Standing up at the stage
In her Starman tee
From Anthem to Limelight
To YYZ
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
And all of the rockers
And all of the heshers
Well they dreamed of the day
That they might get her
And drive her away
In a Red Barchetta
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
Philosophers and ploughmen
They can’t resist her call
They cannot choose
Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
They've gotta love her
No she doesn’t say "Pert"
And she doesn’t say "Part"
Yeah, she knows it’s "Neil Peert"
‘Cause he’s close to her heart
Say a prayer for John Rutsey
He was there at the start
She’s the girl who listened to Rush
Philosophers and ploughmen
They can’t resist her call
They cannot choose
Not to decide
So they've got no choice at all
They've gotta love her
Why don’t girls ever listen to Rush?
But she listened to Rush!
The blacksmith and the artist
They can’t resist her call
You cannot choose
Not to decide
So you’ve got no choice at all
No you’ve got no choice at all
You’ve gotta love her

Love it, Stan!!! 👍🏻

Love it!!!!!!
@@dorarie3167 Donna Halper actually.
@@JoeVideoed Sorry, yes. I sensed as I was writing that there was an error but I knew I’d be corrected. 😁
From the great city of Toronto , Rush , The weekend , Drake , Just Beiber , Shawn Mendez plus many others
Great reaction!! Yes just watch the live concerts.
Look up Vid of the drums alone. F*cking amazing what he's doing.
Please check "The Garden". It's one of if not their last song as a group and is my favourite, even after following them for over 2 decades.
Been listening to Rush since Grace under pressure came out in 1984. Checked all of their catalogue and this song is among their 7-8 best songs ever.

My favorite Rush song…and the official video is very telling.

Lyrics extraordinary on this one in addition to the fire drum composition!
*The video for this song is great.*
Check out Dinner with Rush. Then check out the Rush Beer commercials.
I enjoyed watching you have a Rush-gasm to Subdivisions. Probably my favorite Rush song.
