One of our absolute favorite things to do in this hobby of RC is take a couple cool, scale 1/10 scale trucks out trailing and crawling around a lake or at a park, to both enjoy the hobby and the views around us. Generally though, to really enjoy it to it's fullest, it can get rather expensive! Along comes the REMO Hobby 1093-ST with everything you need to get up and running right out of the box (except maybe a U.S. adapter for charging (Just a couple bucks)) for under $200! It's not so much a performance rig as soon as you take it out for the first time, but it definitely gets the job done. If you find yourself really enjoying driving this four wheel drive truck then you can slowly upgrade things as you see fit! The great thing, is that this is a 1/10th scale truck modeled after (copied) a very popular truck with spare parts, upgrade parts, batteries, lights, nearly everything you can imagine, already available on the market! Let us know what you guys think in the comments below. Happy Driving!

TheRcSaylors would you recommend the Everest 10 or the remo
Would be amazing if you made a review comparison between this truck and the redcat racing Everest 10. They seem quite comparable so hard to tell which one would be better. One has the servos close to the ground and the other one doesn't but other than that it is hard to see. Looks like this truck has most of its weight pushed forward. Does that improve the crawling?
It is a great truck. I bought one, first I replaced the tires, then I stripped out the transmission gears and broke the driveshafts! Ever since I replaced the transmission with one that has metal gears and put metal driveshafts on it, it has been rock. solid! If cannot afford a high dollar rc then this would be a great option. Like they say build it up slowly. Good luck and have fun!!!!!
Cool to see Abby has gotten really good at wheeling💪
Don't change a thing except the battery...the plastic components are not strong enough to cope with more aggressive tyres which give more grip..the diff housings will crack due to over exertion and the drag links will more than likely snap the mounting points..for less than $200 including the TX makes this rig not only affordable but fun, just keep it in a moderate environment...my Axial kit ( just kit only ) was $375...it now owes me just over $1600....with every upgrade available to man kind or crawler kind that should read...with more alloy and steel than the space shuttle...and weighing in just over 6.5 kgs...The Remo is a great starting point to see if that's what you really want to invest in.Luv your vids guys!!
You guys need to start a channel called AbbeyRC for girls/women to start in the rc hobby or just want to understand their partners sickness. Sorry if I spelled Abbey's name wrong. Thanks for another great one.
Abby ;-) But no worries at all! Yeah two channels is so hard to maintain!! We do actually have a second channel - "The Saylors" You should check it out, if you haven't already seen it!
That spot is perfect for a crawler! The dramatic approach to the creepy shed was cool!
Thanks for being family friendly!
Not bad for what it is! I would say a handful of upgrades and it would do the job.
Thanks the beautiful familly rcsaylors. Your vidéos are always interesting and funny. It s always a pleasure for me To See them each morning although i dont speak good english but i understand and it s top. Thanks for all and See you tomorrow morning....
I had a Wal-Mart crawler.. It was a beast.. Non proportional but it was alright.. 30 bucks.. Couldn't stop it.
I'd love to see what it could do when upgraded, and what the additional cost of the upgrades adds to its cost, i.e. how much it closes the gap to the Axial version.
Any chance you two could put on the tires from one of your Axials, drop a lipo in it, and give it a quick update review? Would also be a good way to know if those tires would work on it.
the guy with the chain saw ann ann running out at you LOL. . .
Ground vehicle!! Heck yeah!! (Don’t worry I like all of your guys videos either way)
Yeah we are pretty excited about this one too Ed :-) It's a great truck for the price as well!!
I love this truck. The looks just everything about it.
Funny how it works I got the Remo Short Course on the precepts of "as it fails I will upgrade" I catch this video about 2 weeks after I got the Remo miserable rain today 5-21-20 and I plug this video Looking for a Crawler I gave my daughter my Jeep... Upgrade as needed..The switch at the trigger "Does Something" it is the 50/50 or 70/30. 70/30 is a stock trigger setting flip that switch and the throw on the trigger is 50/50. Car/Truck and Transmitter NEED to be OFF when flipping that switch however the ESC Card is needed for reprogramming the ESC for the 50/50.
You are a lucky man. A beautiful wife and you get to play with all kinds of toys plus she not only lets you do this. she does it with you. Luck lucky man.
Fun toy for the price but I'm not sure it would be smart to invest much into upgrading it. For what it would cost to upgrade it you could have a hobby grade Axial SCX-10 or Redcat Gen7 or 8. Even adding better tires to this would probably just result in breaking things. The crazy steep angle on the drive shafts and plastic U-joints, and probably every gear in it is also plastic (and not "high quality" plastic) would probably break or strip if it had better traction. The lack of traction is what prevents it from breaking itself. And I doubt they make aluminum replacement parts for it.
Duck Landes you have a point but you can always put big brands parts in those cheaper rc trucks.
Twilight Kid: That is true, but... from a financial view I'm still not sure this truck is the wise choice. Say it's your first truck and you decide you like trail trucks, in which you'll never be satisfied with it without dumping another 2 or 3 hundred bucks into it, and it's still not going to be as good as an Axial SCX-10, Redcat Gen8, or Traxxas TRX4 out of the box. I don't think it would ever be a competitive crawler without pretty much replacing everything on it, and by then you're into it for 3 to 4 hundred over the initial $170. Say you got this truck and decide trailing isn't for you. I doubt you could get a hundred bucks back out of it, if you could find anyone to buy it at all. While $300 is a lot to spend on one of the other three just to find out if you like trailing and crawling, if you decide you don't you can easily get a couple hundred bucks back out of it selling it as slightly used. And if you decide you do like trailing and crawling you've got a real decent setup out of the box with any of the other three. For just $30 more than this one there are a few pretty decent hobby grade trucks out there for around $200, like the ECX Barrage Gen2 and Team Associated CR12.
This rig hangs with modified $500 rigs easily with a good driver.
It is absolutely hobby grade.
I own one. Haha. That knob near the throttle is for cruise/auto throttle.
I've upgraded my electronics so far. But the chassis has its limits. Steering angle, suspension articulation and most definitely, the tires. 😁
Idk if ur looking at the comments right now but if u r it would mean the world to me if u respond I doubt you will but still love ur vids and I watch u all the time
Thank you Jacobe! You are the best :-) Have a great day tomorrow!!
Great looking truck and video
Thanks Sam!
I have a remo hobbies s max rtr. Now I want one of these. Lol.
I would not say it needs new tires. It needs weight, put magnet tape inside the wheel (tire). Remove the foam inserts, run the tires without them, will be huge improvement. Shocks need to be very mushy, almost that going over a rock the suspension flexes and chassis stays true. The suspension is too stiff out of the box. Small upgrades that dont break the bank.
If still low gear goes fast a cheap 55t motor will do.
The weight is better in the wheels, lower the better. I bought a HG P402 for 100 on Gearbest, and did as you said, upgraded it little by little.
enjoyed, this may just get me back off-road, thanks
Remember Radline RC? Those were true beasts!
All you kids and your lipo batteries, I run them sometimes too But I've been running nickel metal hydride and nicd Since before lipo's were invented, vintage power! NIMH till! death Peace out road apples!
Yeah! And I love my rotary phones, vcr's and horseback travel! Clown.
Might be good enough for first crawler; learn to make upgrades!! But am happy with my Vaterra 1972 Chevrolet!! Loved the video Saylors!! 💕 👍
Yeah the Vaterra Ascender '72 is a great rig right out of the box.
This was posted on my birthday🎂🎂😄
Not to bad a crawler. Got around fairly well. Fun review. Abby could get a job on ice road truckers. Except they wouldn't like the crazy ice spins, fun as they are. ☺
I like your videos and i have watched all of your videos that you post you are my hero and i am a fan of yours
The cold weather and ice is making the tires even harder...maybe venting the tires would help. Also, venting the wheels. I say this because none of my crawlers ever see water. I'm looking at this truck just to upgrade things. Doing it, my way...
I'd honestly save up for the Redcat Gen 7.. If you search the right spot I've seen em for 175.00 just a suggestion
Yah for the price you can't beat a gen 7
Good video, not my kind of ground buggy I like fast bashers but that's me, probably why my fast bashers is currently busted 😂
Good truck !! Need's good tire's !! It's cool !!
Agreed, thanks for tuning in Jesse!
Thanks for the video. so, I decide & already buy this crawler.
It's a really fun truck Armour. Have a great day!
I couldn't help but notice you have a Sheetz coffee. I used to make there corian counters. Everything inside the store comes from rt up the road from me. If it's a white ish counter, it's one of mine. Awesome truck for the price, I may get one.
To be fair to Remo Hobbies this was a more extreme test than you usually do with your truck reviews. I liked it, but it was more extreme. Still I do follow you about companies that try to clone other companies successes. I do believe also you get what you pay for. Why upgrade this truck when you can just buy a superior product by buying the non cloned item. We should stop supporting the clone wars! 😂 Lol
You guys have one of the best channel and you always have fun; great attitude
Very nice I would still use it .it's for having fun.
I love these Video and they are straight forward about this truck and that awsome so I have some new favorite UA-camr # love it
Great video guys!!! I love how you look at a new vehicle and go into "pimp my RC" mode!!!
Its good for the people who want to try this hobby and not sure if they would like to continue or not.
It does not make sense to spend $500 if you just wanna try hobby.
The speed controler is a rebranded hobby wing, which are used by a lot of companies. Are the axles plastic or alloy? it wants the common parts tires, hi steering servo may be steel rims for lower wieght. It makes a good starting point and you can upgrade the weak parts.
Tell you what guys, to me, the fun with RC trail rigs is to make it your own. To upgrade it. At least that's the way I have fun with these things. Now let's be fair to this Remo copycat truck... the original Trail Honcho (first gen SCX10) was ALL plastic. Shocks, links, and as with all SCX10, transmission gears were also plastic... and they sold for about double the price. That being said, see this thing is a base, a foundation upon which you build. Adding to it 100$ of nice Chinese upgrades (40$ bead lock wheels, 40$ tires, 20$ drive shafts) and would make it bullet proof and trail worthy rig. And that being done, you'll end up with a rig costing still way less than a SXC10 II Trail Honcho (that is, by the way, still all plastic). Don't get me wrong I too love my Axials (I own a few as well as a few Gmades, one MST CFXs and one Vaterra), but let's be honest, the Axials RTRs are not as great out of the box as most fan boys would suggest. Crappy and weak Tactics servo, plastic links, no battery (Remo, at least gives you a NimH) and not so great tires on glued on wheels making it a pain to add wheel weights (by the way, this 1093 has plastic beadlocks, plastic, but still I can dismantle them to add weights)... In my opinion, Axial has way too many distributors taking their share and making the prices go way up. So all in all, my 1093 is, as write this, in the mail from China to my Canadian home. It's my next project. And it'll be GREAT.
6:24 that's one way to get to the creek! Haha! I seen this on Banggood. Nice review.
This video came at the perfect time as I was considering trying a knock-off brand for a rock crawler. Based on what I've seen, I've decided to wait and save a little more and get the real thing. Love the video though !
Great review as always guys. I actually showed this & your Redcat Gen 7 videos to a friend at work wanting to get into the hobby on a budget.
With the lifted body you could put a big set of hyrex on that thing and it would climb right up that wall had to comment it again I know it's a year late I'm getting ready to maybe buy one and I was just searching for videos thanks again information is critical LOL take care
I had an axial scx10 honcho 12 years ago and this one from what I know about these trucks is they generally like to have a low sense of gravity if you've got small tires judging from the shocks on this one I would say they're a little bit too big which has made the center of gravity become more unstable That's why it rolled so I don't know why they would put larger shocks on with smaller tires if I was doing up something like this I would put larger shocks on and larger tires to help compensate it so it could become more stable
hay man i want ur opinion actually I want to buy Remo hobby 1093-ST 1/10 RC truck from banggood site i m from India here is only one online site where i can buy please tell is that rc truck best coz it will be my first rc hobby truck plz give me ur opinion advice and review thanks reply must 😊
We've upgraded this truck and there's no difference between an axial and it virtually the same truck only thing axial charges more but you get better tires but all the tires I got I'd rather pay less and upgrade it myself anyways good vid very informative thank you
The performance was lacking at times, but this truck is decent if one keeps the price in mind. 19:58 Definitely worth considering if cost is an issue.
Come on guys! Remo is not the 1st and the only one to start doing copies. as long as others with low budget get a piece of the fun then let it be. in the end it is the consumer's decision but if this is just your opinion then your opinion is well respected. I remember back in the days when I wanted a bad ass audio amplifier for my car and could not stand how pyramid would be selling amplifiers at a low budget advertising 300 watt peak to peak. Well the "Key word" was peak to peak-LOL. you never hear pk to pk in a sine wave. you can only hear about 30% of pk to pk. Why don't you guys take this video and make it more educational for others and star upgrading starting whit the tires and servo like Mr said and this way you guys can earn more viewers by watching something being transform into something awesome. cool??. I enjoyed the video by the way. Thanks
Hey guy's you should try axial part's on it to see if they interchange they look like they may.
Chop chop chop chop ice cream truck. . .
Seems like they made this with the intention of people changing the wheels and tires right away since they know how crawler people are particular about tires. They do look a little small, it is a viable budget truck forsure
Good video, I’ve been looking for an entry level crawler. Thanks for showing this off so I could make a decision!
The ice is so kool to drive on!!! :-)
At approx. 20:00 into the video, it's starting to sound like you needed a dead cat on that mic, hahaha!!! :-)
Finally, this does seem like a nice 10th scale R/C truck that simply needs a few upgrades *SOONER* rather than later.
I'd love to have that little truck. 😢
Same
It would Def need upgrades to climb for sure. Better off with a redcat or grando out the box starter. Bit more in price but more worth in the long run.
I like it I like to do upgrades , I would differently go to a lipo battery and bigger tires and lights, hey great job guys 👍
From what I have seen great video.
Might pick one up just to mess around with, my Trx4 makes it seem almost to east to crawl and trail. Would definitely throw metal beadlocks and good tires, lipo, servo and Tx and Rx. Would be probably almost unstoppable then
Cool little beast
LOVE this truck, especially for the price!
Nice truck in terms of what ur getting for the price, it makes for a fun truck. I would consider this a half decent entry ctawler into the hobby untill you start investingin it. But if u upgrade tires, servo and add lights it will start to get costly. Perhaps it will get into the actual Axial truck..as im writting my review and u guys are also commenting on the same points too funny. Good vid, thx for sharing👍
Thinking about getting into it but what would be what would be the upgrades you would do to set this up as the 1st time turn user
Awesome little crawler 👍 👍
Some nice tires and after the shocks break in it should be even more awesome, my barrage had stiff shocks and I put 20w in and it really didn't make a difference but after a couple months of use they are super nice, I'm pretty sure these are the same shocks as the barrage.
Hi y'all I just got one the other day with stock tires it went everywhere really did good and I also water tested at big time just to where you can see the top eight or 10 times I went through that dozer track underwater where you could just see roof and it never quit moving but anyway on the hand unit remote do you know what the light button means I added a light bar thinking that it was on and off switch for the lights and plugged into truck and they just stay on so I thought that was what it was for. I just added duratrax c3 deep woods cr can't wait to see how it handles sets up a little taller too. Thanks for all do and if you can help me ✌️💪
It is every bit as good as the honcho if not better. All metal gears and metal links, 550 motor....
thank you for the video, as for bang for buck ? how did that redcat Everest gen7 sport do? out of the box? some build there own trucks and or a kit , to get a good rc truck for them, as for me i have the Everest 16 to start and soon a gen7 , as i order parts. so i say you happy crawling and rc fun.
We love our Everest :-) Will have to check out the 16! Thanks for tuning in!
Great video
From Pete at RC Bros
Thank you :-)
Love the video guys
Thanks John! 👍⚓😎
may be the one it could be compared to is the red cat Gen 7 or 8
Great review as always..🔥🔥👍👍
Thank you!!
hi mate is there many upgrade parts available for this Rock Crawler as it looks a good setup to get started with
Early squad where you guys at (:
Late squad tonight, since we uploaded this one later. Long Day my friend, thanks for tuning in!
TheRcSaylors a lol it’s all good love your vids 😊😊💕💕💕👍👍👍👍👍
Could you guys do a comparison with the remo 109 vs the rgt ex 860
I would say nice video but I haven't finished watching it
Thanks for tuning in Mikey!
Nice. for the price Does Remo offer spare parts? Or would any Axial SCX component fit?
That would be a good truck to but then upgrade as u go like a starter off truck I would buy that because of the price and put some money in it
what's the best lipo you can buy for it, and do you know what servo would work good with it?
It's very good review~~!!👍👍
LOL that is what she sed !!
I have one of theses I got metal talesharfs and bigger wheels and it’s grate
Good patients Abby.an sound effects.
I have 4 rc car 2 trucks and 1 crawler 1 Lamborghini !!!!
Redcat Everest 10 is the better buy or Gen 7 or Gen 8..if your into Crawlers. Now the RGT crawlers are very cool with the 1/24th one of my faves if your okay with ordering these vehicles from China.
How would youguys compare this rc to the vaterra ascender
I think I would add winch instead of lights.an practice crawling.
makes me feel obstacle spoiled here in Colorado
Yeah some things are good on Gearbest some are just crap, think I'll pass on this one and save up for the Redcat series or that brand who came after you guys a while ago.
The video Was amazing
What is one of the best trucks for $120 and fast 30 mph ???
Hey RC⚓crawler drivers!👋😄 Great review, my friends!🔥💯👍 [BTW, we just got a foot of snow❄️overnight, here in SLC!!!] I would have loved to see this Remo truck with better tires on it! Many of us have trucks with good tires we could swap out & try. I know you concentrate on the "out of the box" experience & rightfully so, especially for the 1st-time truck buyers! So, maybe a followup 🎥, would be awesome with some decent tires! You know, switched with, say maybe, like the red Virhuck truck or the popular green WL Toys truck (Oops, don't remember the model #s🤔😩🙈) Anyway, I think I got my idea across, to ya! Lol😁 Take great care! JP👏🤓👌
Another grade A video! 👌
Please I want peaple to know about everest 10 I wasted a lot of money trying to get into a crawler and would have saved if I got the everest 10 first.
nice funny truck
if your looking for a good crawler check out the ftx mauler it's a cool vehicle.
R the drive shafts all plastic
What's the best drone with camera under 200$
We are honestly really liking this one right now - goo.gl/ovRfv2
And it's well under your budget, plus you get Two batteries!! Woot!!
Here is our video on it - ua-cam.com/video/S-KwaOATrM4/v-deo.html
Thanks guys the drone camera seems pretty good for that price tag
