after what happened to Uyinene and all the ladies we've lost in S.A .. This is legit the 1st song I thought of .. " Noma sekunzima emhlabeni sihlukunyezwa kabuhlungu Nkosi siphe amandla okunqoba, silwe no sathane"
This song gave me strength to fight my lecturer last year and the case is still going at ccma because he took the University there..m glad he got fired,I fought for female students that I don't even know and I thank God for trusting me with this!
I always cry when I listen to this because this is not just a song but a prayer to God Almighty to unite and prosper his children. I am in the United States at the moment of commenting but things don't make sense here. I see how we are blessed as Africa and how we can live the most comfortable lives if we unite and realize that we are one people and that we can build Africa to be the best home so that none of our people should slave or die trying to immigrate to in foreign lands.
For some reason I can never bring myself to play this tune once and skip. It has to be the best rendition of Nkosi Sikel' iAfrica ever been rendered. I probably played this 8 times before deciding to write this comment. Raise your hand if you can relate.
Such a powerful prayer :) Lyrics in case anyone needed them... (Forgive my Zulu & Shona spelling if I got it wrong) Zulu Version: Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika (God Bless Africa) Maluphakanyisw' uphondo lwayo, (May her spirit rise high up) Yizwa imithandazo yethu, (Hear thou our prayers) Sibe moya munye (To be united in one spirit) Noma sekunzima emhlabeni (Even through hard times in this world) Sihlukunyezwa kabuhlungu (When we are painfully abused) Nkosi siph' amandla okunqoba (Lord give us strength for victory) Silwe nosathane. (To fight the devil) Shona Version: Ishe komborera iAfrica (God Bless Africa) Ngaisimudzirwe zita rayo (May her name be exalted) Inzwai miteuro yedu (Hear our prayers and petitions) Ishe komborera, (God Bless) Isu, mhuri yayo. (Us her offspring/children)
We sang this last night at the University of Limpopo. #RIPUyinene, rest baby. I am so sorry to my sisters,my aunts and mothers.I am sorry to our fellow African brothers and sisters. Lord,Lord-sikelela iAfrika❤
The United States of Africa is definitely going to start with South Africa and Zimbabwe. There's so much sincerity amongst the two and its full of generosity.
This morning I cried for my country South Africa. When you hear what is currently going on, looking at the youth being distracted by trivial things. Adults starting to living like the youth and yes trauma has alot to do with this. Politics keeps taking the very soul of our black leaders. Deals and compromises killing the future of the youths who are too busy on the phone and trying to remain relevant and popular at the expense of their future children. It's sad. Culture is something we are loosing and we distancing ourselves from our Creator. Today I cried because I know the history books and nothing good will come out of what's currently going on. God help us all.
I just don't like people from Zimbabwe,, I mean you should see them in working environments they treat us South African as outsiders in our country f***k them
I found myself listening to this song after Uyinene's death and during the vigils carried by South African varsity students due to gender based violence. UP students were really really touched by what was happening to our country and we sought to do vigils till we were heard. We all stood united and pit race, gender or anything that made use different aside. Not only at UP but other institutions as well. Few months later, here I am returning to this song due to the pandemic that's happening. By just clicking the play button, the whole thing that happened last year came back to my mind. I guess that'll stay forever in my mind. I never knew Uyinene or any other woman who went through what she went through, but I think her incident will forever be in my mind and I will never forget her. She probably didn't wanna be forgotten that easy, and this song will probably remind !me of what happened, it will forever remind me of those dark days we had last year. I am probably gonna come back to this song whenever something wrong happens in our country or in Africa as a whole, even if it's 20 years from now, and it'll always take me back to 2019, it will always take me back to the vigils that were happening at UP. I hope this pandemic will pass soon and we'll all go back to our normal Lives, even though things aren't gonna be the same anymore, the damage has been done. Condolences to all those who have lost someone close due to this virus. May their souls rest in peace.
This song just made me realise that we were once one country with Zimbabwe. Thats why they’re trying to separate us so badly, we don’t hate Zimbabweans we were taught to.
I am praying for all the young people in africa who are killed, incarcerated wrongly and those who are fleeing their land bcz of the prevalence of injustice, lord God please help us, I think of Carbon Beni, Gecoco etc... Lord, we don't want to say that we pray to a lesser God, help us
