Day 54 in the Wastes
The city is deserted, the streets are filthy and there's only distant sounds right now. Only one mutant today, he had no legs. He tried to crawl after me and I did not give him the chance to even come close. Found a full box of teabags today. Now I just need to find some more clean water.
Jackpot. Found a perfectly good bed, an enclosed area with a door that I can totally lock. I can finally kick off my boots and wipe myself with those disinfectant tissues I found the other day. No distant gunshot noises, and no mutants this late in the evening. It is time for some sleep.

I've lived in third world countries in similar setting apartments. At first, it's quite the shock. Afterwards, it becomes your place of comfort.
A small space such as this can be great for living in if you lay it out nicely.
