- West Ham United's Europa Conference League final win over Fiorentina was decided in a matter of seconds, but for manager David Moyes it owed everything to a decision he made an entire year ago.

Absolutely delighted for West Ham and David Moyes as a fellow Scot. Our league is a joke but you can't deny us Scots are pretty good leaders. To see him celebrate with his father was a speacial moment.
Maybe let the 4 best British league teams have an end of season play off.
Plymouth Argyle for England (better league points total than Man City)
Wrexham for Wales (better league points total than Swansea City)
And whoever was best in Scotland and Northern Ireland in their leagues!
Scottish league is loved by many scots, who cares what others think
Scotland has produced some blinding players 🇬🇧
A great people, always root for Scottish teams, hopefully this could be a tournament to bring European silverware back to Scotland in the future!
Frank McAvennie is still one of my all time favourite players 👌
I'm really happy for the irons 🔨
Well done to them
Lots of love from a gooner
People are worried about Declan rice leaving West ham. I think we should be more worried about who's going to come for Jarrod Bowen. I hope to god he stays.
said the same thing,, he will hopefully stay and become the WHU hero like i think he can become
He’s surrounded by West Ham family he’s not going anywhere
where bowen going
eden hazard
Loool
WHU Forever in my heart, greetings to you all from Thailand.❤
It was a Moyesterclass by Moyesrinho 😄🏆⚒
Disappointed how you didn’t include that in the second half moyes changed plans a bit with soucek and paqueta switching positions/area they were covering with soucek playing sometimes as the higher mid switching with paqueta. This is why soucek is pictured higher than paqueta in the freeze photo before the game winner
I didn't realise Moyes made this change until my dad pointed it out and it did make a big difference
Exactly, this is why Ten Hag is the best manager in europe as he does this almost every match when his decided tactics didn't pan out how he wanted to in the first half and it wins him the game
A partially good summary. Paqueta actually made the same pass to Antonio earlier in the half which you should have highlighted. Where under pressure he picks the run. What you don't pick up is that you have stereotyped (as many pundits who dont actually follow a team do) does a lot of the donkey work, very unusual for a 'quality' player. They don't recognise this part of his game, because they are not looking for it. Soucek played further up in the second half (you saw him get onto a header and a chance on the ground) you seemed to miss that as well. The main problem I feel Antonio and in fact most of the West Ham team, was dealing with the play acting that the Italians did to break up our counters. Every time Antonio got the ball they were down clutching their face, even though they were fouling him. We lost possession through play acting as much as we did actually losing the ball in play. The possession stat was lower than we would have liked at around 33% in the first half but in games we have won over the last 2-3 seasons, thats nothing unusual its usually around 35-40% the stats weds night were not hugely unusual, although slightly down on normal. Clearly next season the Premier League results need to change, and Moyes needs a plan b when we go behind as we never recover games if they deviate from the hit on the break approach.
I'm just here to point out that English, Welsh, and Scott are not uncommon British surnames
Never heard of someone with Welsh as a surname
Great Scott!!!
@@spartacus3111 it's not uncommon but not as common as Walsh and Welch, which are variants.

As a fan new to football who started following West Ham this year, thank you for this breakdown. Really interesting to see the strategy breakdowns.
What a time to become a West Ham fan!... you'll just have to wait 47 years for another trophy! 😂 This one was the first in my life and I'm 33! 😂
He is a football genius & Liverpool fans call it back in 2014
Congratulation to West Ham United & Moyes
No cheating. No breaches. No charges hanging over your head. Brilliant 👏 👏 👏
The game was always going to be like that,
they were to dominate and WHU were to soak up and counter. Moyes never makes things look pretty and majority of the time we look rubbish, but he is more about just being resilient and just waiting for their moments and being clinical. That is a Moyes game plan.
You're wrong about Paqueta having a bad game. He was so aggressively marked by Fiorentina at times that it ultimately took men off of Bowen often. They were really afraid of his ability.
It took a splendid pass from Gregory in the last 10 seconds against Barnsley to create Wednesday's winner for Windass's fine finish too. The experience and skill in that crucial moment saves or wins the day, but the hard work by the rest of the team is also very necessary to get to that decisive moment.
I'm very glad West Ham are London's most successful team this season!
(Don't you feel a tiny bit sorry for Arsetottensea? Not much! 🙂)
One of the best analyses of Moyes and WHU this season.
I’m watching a tactics video couple days after our final because - UA-cam algorithm
Hasn’t let me don’t tho tbh, I’ll check out your other videos too!
Top work!
Well done West Ham. Lucky with the counter and that Fiorentinas defence fell asleep but great dinish by Bowen. Great result considering the possession stats. Good luck in the Europa next season!
Great players can have moments of brilliance even when having a bad game. take a bow lucas paqueta
David Moyes >= Mounrinho in 2023! If Mourinho was the Special One, Davis Moyes must be the especially Special One bringing European glory to West Ham of all teams!
He's the unappreciated one mate half our fans want him gone regardless
Yep don't like Jose and his tactics wins yes bar the europa mind well done seville but moyes same don't want him never wanted him at my club. Won this boring game and OK good but certainly not the west ham way greenwood and lyall top coaches would want or me .
Jovic coming off had at half time (after having a goal disallowed while getting the injury) had a big effect on the game it allowed west ham to step the defence up a bit further and they got a better hold of the midfield in 2nd half because of it
i honestly think the goal being disallowed right before halftime was a huge momentum swing for west ham... it was pretty intentional for them to have less of the ball thinking that eventually the Fiorentina defense would open up to allow west ham to have success on the counter (which they are great at)
That was a fantastic analysis of the game plan … you’ve just gained another subscriber… but I’ll only watch when you talk about West Ham 😂😂⚒⚒
"The GENIUS Way" is Fiorentina manager, Italiano, not knowing how to play cup finals and constantly losing (he did it all season) matches in the last few minutes because he always have the defence almost in the opponent half.
By the way, i am not saying the West ham win was not legit, i am just saying that this is a recurring thing that happen to Fiorentina under this coach, who is brilliant, but still very naive and inexperienced, when it comes to cup matches and what to do , or not to do, in the final minutes of a game.
I could suggest they are both the same ?
@@stephenboyd4934 i am not following you.
I really enjoyed this video as an irons fan! Good work
Am a Very N Gooner but also a footie fan. So fkn happy for Moyes n rice and the whole squad, both HV really gave West Ham 3 amazing years. They'll miss declin but Moyes will HV the money to replace him
Thank you, the video was very informative: Moyes is building a team with a long term view which means minimal success in the EPL at the moment - stand-by Spurs fans, this is what to expect from Ange; the time on David Moyes' watch "midnight', metaphorically a new day starts for West Ham(?); and finally, the James Corden 'sublime cut' was very funny, although I don't think Corden has the upper body strength to through anything that far!
I sort of disagree that moyes is doing some long term experimentation thing. If you experiment you need to have a working end result and he’s just ditched the possession based football altogether and tried forcing players like scamacca paqueta etc into a counterattacking system, which they aren’t suited for. I love moyes but he is not the future of the club we need an attack minded manager like rodgers who can get the best out of our new signings
Spot on with the breakdown. I’m one happy Hammer.
Bro not sure what you are expecting from Paqueta but he was our best player. His pressing was pretty much perfect the whole game. Barely made a mistake, and the one time he did was because he misread who Antonio was closing down.
Obviously defensive actions aren't sexy but that's clearly at the heart of Moyesball and how we tried to control the game.
2:57 He's Italy's Johnny English
Fun fact: There was once a Scottish lower league forward called Isaac English.
this guy just earned my sub
As a cup, I think the Conference League Cup is nicer than the UCL Cup. It is more elegant.
2:13 from a brazilian: it’s actually the first way. paqueTA.
Ta 👍🏻
stole my car
Great vid.
Domenico Tedesco was an Italian manager managing in Germany, whose name means German in Italian
I was surprised to learn that Emerson is the first player to have won the CL, ECL and now the ECL….. Congratulations West Ham….. ⚒
And euros and super cup European football completed
COYI ⚒⚒⚒
Paqueta had a good game
Nice video.
Ironic that we did an Italian job on an Italian side.
how do you get such good sound out of your blue yeti. mine is shite
the correct way to pronounce Paqueta is in such a way that it rhymes with 'I just sold my car'
You are absolutely right, it's high time that Davie Moyes was shown something like the sort of level of respect that he actually deserves.
He is way better than Allardyce, Bruce, Nathan Jones, Cooper or Lampard.
Ok, he might never really be a Guardiola or a Klopp but he's not as far behind as many people like to paint him.
He took an awful lot of stick because of a post match interview with BBC sports correspondent Vicki Sparks in which he made a poor choice of words, even though it was said in jest the sort of language he used towards a female on-air provoked no end of trouble for the likeable Scotsman.
It's funny you say that very few players in all of europe could have done that.
Because instantly Bruno, Erikson, Casemiro, Kroos, Muller, and Modric came to mind
IRONS
The fans agree with your pronunciation of Paqueta. I think one commentator pronounced it funny and they all followed
David Moyes is Football Genious
Not a genius way guys. On Paper West Ham was the strongest team in Conference league. We didnt play well at all. We just happened to have Paqueta and Bowden to combine their genius and bring it home.
Fiorentina and Villarreal were favourites
Not a bad analysis at all. A lot more to it than you've covered but sound information.
Im a united fan and I'm so happy for David and the boys 😊
Just because we didn’t have the ball does not mean we had a bad half. The last few years we’ve never had high possession, our threat comes from the counter attack as seen in the 89th min
Brazilian here, not at all relevant to the video but at 2:10 the correct pronunciation is the first due to the accent on the letter A and not the way you pronounced it. But great video matte.
7:01 I believe you.
Wait............it's that lad Coufal again 🤪
Brilliant analysis. Quite enjoyed it. One thing - it's Am-Ra-Bat. Not Ar-Am-Bat 👍
nice next year europa league.
Isn't this the guy that reviews wrestling videos ?
Paquetta is magic!
They must of put it in EastEnders , today by doing two outcomes,
I don't understand 4:25. What throw in? The goal came from a hand-ball penalty?
The ball was thrown into the box, and immediately handballed after one or two bounces
I thought we (lfc) had bought amrabat just after the world cup. What happened there? YNWA
Despite Uncle Dave we still won! Moyes out! COYI !
You’re wrong re the pronunciation- it’s Paquetá - stress on the last ‘a’. He definitely would not have mispronounced it. It’s his hometown, a small island not far from the centre of Rio. Been there loads of times when I lived in Brazil. Try saying ‘paketaaah’ and you’ll be more right.
Honestly I think the likes of Brighton Brentford and even Villa could win the Mickey cup
Tottenham couldn't 😂😂 they got knocked out at the group stages 😂😂
Genius...??? Mmmm he has been a top flight manager for over 20 years and it's his first trophy, he set up perfectly as the result proved... but genius?... that is a bit strong...as a supporter of a different club I'm delighted the hammers won, Michail Antonio has won more than kane... something that will bother him in ten years time
Fiorentina deserved to win this game, however West Ham deserved to win the competition. West Ham were the only side unbeaten. Fiorentina lost 4-times. The best side won. Well-done you Cockney-geezers.
laxadaisically isn't a word
Good analysis, just too much ‘filler’ talk trying to entertain
Must of watched a different game to you!
Just sold my car, to Lucas....
What a joke video, paqueta was one of west ham’s best players before the assist and you displayed that you do not understand him as a player or his role in west ham’s team
David Moyes did not win it. Bowen won it at the last minute.
❤
I'm sorry but West Ham didn't win that game, Fiorentina lost it...
What trophy do they get for that then? ⚒
There is no way the word genius and Moyes should ever be said in the same breath, this from the same fans who were calling for his head all season but suddenly he is the genius of world football. The man is a jobbing manager at best, who has won Europe's version of the charity shield (I'm being generous,at least these teams won something)so please enough with the over the top praise .
West ham were shite and they pissed me off paqueta was west hams best player
Hey it’s the result at the end that matters
Emerson was clearly West Hams best player were you even watching the match?
How succinct.
if we were shite how did we win mate
@@roryoconnor4827 exactly they won because overall they played a better game, and it wasn't about the manager's, it was the players that done it.
The genius way was playing 3rd rate European teams from Belgium, Cyprus and Denmark. West Ham finished 6 points off relegation this season so they’re hardly the world beaters their fans and the media think they are !
Don't normally stoop this low but cry 😂
AZ Alkmar finished 4th in the Eredivisie, two points behind Ajax. Fiorentina, 8th in Serie A. Takes literally minutes to check this sort of stuff before spacking off about it being s "3rd tier competition" or some nonsense
Spurs fan?
Tell me your clueless without telling my your clueless 😂
Champions ⚒️
Let’s just gloss over the 2 years of anti football by the dinosaur and finishing behind Bournemouth with the best squad in our history. He can do one
We played 4-3-3 yeaterday LP was great all game, go back to WWF, mug
Exactly, he's talking complete bollocks.
