Thanks Ben! The little cars are so tight in some areas to work in and it intrigued me how it was all set up.

Mar 2022 update....if you feel the fan is not pushing enough air try switching the electrical connections at the fan motor. Switching the wiring will cause the fan to spin in the opposite direction.. You may be unlucky enough the previous owner wired it back to front!

Stick with it man it'll be a source of pride when done with patience and care and so much learning to experience!
These little ok cars have been said to have souls, but it's that sincere work and money including time forms that connection and attachment LOL Like a child they can be demanding but responsive to responsible parenting! Peace and health!

Block the air intake with cardboard and duct tape, Open the flap behind the speaker. Turn on the heat and it sucks inside air through the vent behind the flap and heats it and blows it out the heat vent. Block a variable (temp dependent) amount of the rad with cardboard to keep engine temp up. Voila - uninsulated convertible with all the heat you need all winter - down to 30 below!!!

Great pictures unfortunately if I stop video you can see them well. And 10 secs doesn’t quite do it. But thank you for putting it all together.

Great informative video. 2 questions. 1) I have my heater valved closed and vent open and I'm still getting hot air. Any thoughts? 2) I got the flexible demister tubes from Moss but they seem a tiny bit small. Did the early years use a larger tube?

Gday, firstly many thanks for the compliment! The valve itself may be problematic, if its more than 5 or so years old I'd replace it. When the diaphragm goes it can be catastrophic and dump all cooling liquid! I made a blanking flange and ensure I carry a spare valve and also blanking flange and coolant ALWAYs with the right tool to remove it. The next thing to check is the function of the cable. Have someone look at the opening action as you rotate the heater valve dial open/close. For what it is worth I most leave the heater on always, I drive a roadster so the heat dissipates pretty rapidly with the added benefit of keep in the engine cooler using the car heater matrix as a sub cooler (heat exchanger)
