I learned a lot. You really explained the pin stitch well and I tried the loop finish and it worked well. I have a very bulky back on the full coverage. I am going to do the loop finish now so it will be a neater back. Thank you for the lesson. It’s very helpful.
Awesome tutorial Mrs Karen!! Time flew by and didn't seem like 1 hour at all. Im so glad you mentioned that ending with a pin stitch you don't have to go over a bunch of stitches to secure it. I only move over about 2 stitches and I was worried that maybe I wasn't going over far enough and it might come loose and wouldn't be stitched over enough. I wasn't sure but you confirmed for me that I should be alright. And I learned some more new ways....thank you 😊 your an awesome teacher Mrs Karen
Very interesting video. For the pin stitch: You can do it diagonally, vertically, horizontally. Personally, I start with a diagonal pin stitch, end with a horizontal und under my last stitch. Also, when using the diagonal as the first half of the X, I found that it's difficult to get it really clean. I actually go over twice, it looks cleaner. Doing the pin stitch when stitching 2x2 you go down the outer hole, come up in the middle hole, go down the outer hole on the other side, come back up in the middle and go back down the outer hole on the other end. Then come up where you start your stitch, pull the tail, snip the tail and pull back the stitching thread. To finish, come up in the middle hole of your last stitch, jiggery poke a little down the middle under the stitch, come up at the other end and go down in the middle. Pull quite hard and snip off on the back. A method that worked for me for a long time, but then I stitch everything in hand and with the sewing method, except bits I stitch 1x1. Could not agree with you more on the question of the rules :-) Oh, basically only two rules do exist: the thread goes through the needle and the needle goes through the fabric, all else is yours.
I have a new way to start left over 2 threads that doesn’t have a loop. Wondering if you could provide feedback on it. Is it safe? Hope you can follow……. Lower left 1 upper right 2 lower right 3 upper left 4. Go down in 2 leaving a tail, come up in 1, go back down in 2 come up in 3, then down in 4. Cut tail. I have not seen any slipping. Thoughts?
Lesa. That start is fine. If i followed it correctly that is the same start as i showed. Except my tail was really short that it pulled to the back during the process. This is the same start that Teresa Little Stitcher uses. Can’t remember if I mentioned that. Leaving a longer tail at the start and then going back and trimming is totally fine. It is a perfect way to start and will help in reducing the bulk. Thank you very very much for your feedback. It is much appreciated. Keep doing you and enjoy your journey
Thank you for the revelation of the front loop start! I've always done it from the back. This will be great when working on a big frame.
Hi, I'm Tammy from Israel (therefore the funny name in Hebrew). Excellent video, excellent explanation.
Thank you so much for this video ☺️

Fabulous. Just let me know if you have questions❤️
Thank you for this video; now I know why my pin stitches were so bulky!
Glad it was helpful!

I do this with a ball tip needle and it's no fun I'm gonna try a cross stitch needle .
