I feel like a lot of people underestimate how painful bloodbending must feel. Normally your muscles move your body around but when you're being bloodbent the blood inside your body is pushed against the walls of your veins with so much force that your limbs start to move by themselves. It's like getting your entire body pushed and twisted around from the inside
@@lone_berserker counterpoint: you have to know how to do these things. You know it's theoretically possible. Can you tell me where to squeeze in the brain to turn out off with bending? Dont forget, the only reason she can bloodbend is because its a full moon, and even then its still difficult to perform. It’s so hard for me to not feel bad for Hama. Yes, what she did was wrong and watching this as a kid really freaked me out (it still does) but what Hama was forced to do to escape after years of imprisonment just shows how much war can really change a person.
As some comments said, the fact that Hamma escaped made the Fire Nation to kill all the possible Water-benders in the South Water Nation (this is why they killed Katara's mother)
That’s not true. When they took Hama away, they had already gotten every known water bender in the South Pole. Time goes by, and then Katara is born, and somehow, someone leaks that Katara is a water bender (the last waterbender). But the fire nation doesn’t know who specifically, so Kataras mom lies and says it’s herself. one of the coolest part of the avatar universe is how advanced and yet at the same time "feels real" bending power scale. Yes the original forms is Fire, Water, Air, Earth. but it follows the logic of science really accurately. Blood is basically water hence bloodbending. Oxygen is basically air hence oxygen/breathbending (they will show this form on the Legend of Korra series). Metal is basically earth's mineral so metalbending. Explosion and lightning is basically fire on higher level so explosion and lightningbending. you will see this advanced branched bending called 'specialized bending technique' in the Legend of Korra. You will see lavabending (derivatives from earthbending), Spiritbending (derivatives from waterbending), flight and spirit projection (derivatives from airbending).
Kamara also had another advantage, she used Earthbending style w/ her water bending when she stopped the water ball. Look again, it's an Earth stance, probably from watching Toph teach Aang. But, everyone seems to love that Hama taught Katara bloodbending. But, look at Katara, she didn't want to learn that technique. It was Forced onto her. Her principles were violated. So, you may think it's cool. But, for Katara, it's a personal violation. That's why she cried.
Ohhh truee cause they thought Aang was killed among with the air nation, and the cycle would go on to the water bender... But I feel like Hama is the reason they killed Katara and Sokka's mom
@@miloradstanojevic3784 I mean its the reason but not the problem, and the problem really outweights whatever Hama had commited, her whole village was raided, she was a slave, a refugee and finally went insane on the last years of her life, if you really think about it its fucked up, to be honest I think she was a good lesson to Katara so she knew the pain her nation went through.

Airbenders can literally end people as well. It's actually super easy, just bend the air out of them entirely. And they don't need a fancy lineage or the full moon to pull it off. The only thing saving the world from how insanely cruel and savage air bending could be is them being peaceful monks (and being wiped out, I guess!). Oh - and one more thing, they could just as easily do the opposite - and expand the air inside your lungs to such an extent, you'd die the most horrible death I can think of.
I got this shit through a leaked link on Limewire and it blew me away, but I couldn't tell any friends. Bloodbending is terrifying, and your reactions are great! Hope you keep going and make it to Korra next!
Bloodbending probably feels like a full body cramp, or like a strong electrical current running through your body. Also some muscles are necessary for life support, like heart, lung or take your bladder or sphincter (What a word ... got it from google translator lol). You'd probably shit and pee youself, if the bender doesn't take care. Hama could easily break your bones or tear your muscles. In fact she is more powerfull than your muscles, else you could fight it, so she probably WILL tear muscles, dislocate joints and break bones just by moving you around. She doesn't feel the boundaries of your movement like you do normally and why would she care? Like the spider demon in Demon Slayer, who moved the people with already broken bodies around, so gruesome. That's why Katara was so afraid of even the thought of this power and thanks to her healing training, she knows a lot about anatomy. The damage you can cause and the intrusion into someones insides is a lot. Blood bending is not just fighting your enemy with a new technique, like metal bending, it's like violating them. For military warfare this is the equivalent of dropping brutal poisoness gas instead of bombs, or shooting your opponent's testacles and limbs instead of vital body parts to let them suffer. Blood bending is nasty and most of the time it doesn't provide any tactical advantage over Katara's usual masterfull waterbending. This is like a perversion of water bending healing. Like a Doctor asked to kill a pationt by operating, instead of saving them. Yet she HAD to do it to save her family, so now she knows how it feels to violate a person's insides. Wouldn't want that power either.
If you didn't notice when katara block that water attack that wasn't a water bending move that was a earth bending move after that she attack that was a air bending move she can apply other bending moves to her water bending
