I have many Holbein products I plan to save up for this year! That Holbein palm box is a must add to my collection, but it reminds me of the 48 color Sakura Koi palette! You can also put a piece of paper at the top and paint on it.
Im a single woman with a low income. I dont feel bad at all for buying art supplies every now and then. I had to give up my horses because of bad hips and back. So this is my new hobby. Dont feel bad!! ❤❤
I use a mobility scooter, so have the same problems as you when it comes to plein air painting. I carryVivera colour sheet paints, A5 sketchbook, water brush and pen in the Vivera carry case. Its great for when you are waiting for a doctors appointment etc as the whole set is very low profile. Its kept in my hand bag at all times. I highly recomend it, as its very portable and robust.
The algorithm popped you on my suggested videos. Yay algorithm! Happy birthday! If you don't already carry them, a pair of binder clips are really useful for holding your sketchbook open and keeping the pages still in a breeze. I also tuck my rag or folded tissue into one of them while I paint so it's right there where I need it. The Jerry Q's palette looks like there would be room for a half used pencil and a chunk of kneaded eraser in there. Instead of the pipette and a water bottle , you could consider a small spray bottle. Spray to rewet the paints (also easier and quicker than a pipette drop onto each pan) and then pop the lid off and pour into the PP water cups. I carry a 50ml and rarely use it up. Love Escodas - they should have a small hole in the end which allow air flow and prevent mold. Enjoy your new supplies!
I just started painting, so I just paint at my kitchen table. I am not wheelchair bound but I have a lot of health issues that do give me mobility issues, the next step is they want me to do a brain MRI to test for MS or lupus. The eye doctors found that my optic nerve junction in both eyes is very swollen.
Synthetic taklon brushes will all fish hook to some extent. If you are hard on them it will happen even more. Princeton brushes are the absolute worst at hooking. Their guide hair is particularly bad about it. The guide hair is the central and longest fiber that the maker shapes the brush to. My Escodas so far have been pretty good about not hooking, but I am also very gentle with my brushes. Your birthday haul seems to be making you happy, enjoy it!
The algorithm brought me here! I was born with Spina Bifida and I am a wheelchair user too!! Wow this is so awesome to meet you and your channel!! Unfortunately I don’t go out to do art much- I should! I have chronic pain so I have to lay on the bed often, so I paint on the bed using one of those silicone mats for painting- the ones you can get anywhere online like Amazon or Temu. I also use one of those rectangular buckets for painting that is perfect for sitting on the bed and not toppling.
Thank you or sharing!!! So glad you rolled on by! ;D It's great to meet you too!! Those are two items (the mat and the square bucket) that I've been so tempted to get. I'm usually sitting upright, but I've often wanted a larger water bucket that I didn't have to get up and change so often. Thanks again for sharing!!
I have the hobein watercolour set and have used it a lot, and ended up buying pans for the last row. You can get more godets but I didn't find them easy to get, so I ended up filling empty ones with other colours I liked from tubes.
I have that portable painter that I keep for a dry gouache set. LOVE it! Oh my goodness that Jerry Q palette is adorable! Well, your whole haul looks tailor made for me. Thanks for the tip about the Amazon card. I'll be saving those bonuses. I usually spend them as soon as they show up...haha...Oh, and happy birthday!
Awww thank you!! I was thinking of using the portable painter for a dry gouache palette as well! Thanks for the tip, thanks for watching, and thanks also for commenting! I hope you’re having a great week!
In the last year or so I’ve tried a ton of oil pastels and you’ll be a lot happier with gallery, paul rubens is good but a little pricier than gallery but there’s a big improvement with gallery from the cheeper brands. The ones you got I’ve found to have been lacking in their coverage in comparison so if you think about getting another set at some point I highly recommend the gallery soft oil pastels its by far the best value!
Sweet birthday haul 😍🥰🥰 great video and well put together, i have the portable painter set. Unfortunately it hasnt been letting me order to the uk to buy the extra spaces! Hopfully one day i can get my hands on the extra space hahah
Oh no, that much be frustrating! They're just little 3D printed pieces. I wonder if you couldn't print them or have someone print you off a couple or something similar to do the trick... Perhaps someone on Etsy? Or maybe another artist has thought of a DIY fix for the extra pans....if you do, please keep me posted! Thank you for the channel support. Take care!
@ThePortlandArtStudio thankyou for the tips, i haven't a clue how the 3d printed pieces work or how id get dimensions or anything for it, or even know anyone who owns a 3d printer 🤣🤣🤣 im going to message a few people on etzy who sell empty pans and see if theres anything that can be done, thankyou very much for the advice. I will defo keep you posted, worst case scenario i could ask somone from my online game if i could sent them the money to order it to theirs and send me it that way lolol seems extreme but defo would be nice to have them extra spaces :)
Hope your channel keep growing. Now I don't feel so guilty aboutspending on art supplies, some of them will last a long time... I would like to know if you mix oil pastels with other techniques? And also, would like to know how to know the way to progress with watercolor. Hope you had a happy bday.
I was looking at your video, when you were talking about the black watercolour book for the pages being on the wrong side, I thought, why don’t you flip your book around that way the pages will be on the good side!
I have way to many watercolors..trying to spend my way out of depression. One of the paints i bought was jerry Q. One day , trying to make room/ get rid of crap, i decided to draw a tomato with different brands of paint. 6 months later i couldnt tell you which tomato was which. I remember some brands took more layers than others to get what i wanted. Daniel green, winsor newton, m graham, jerryQ, white nights, old holland, schmincke and sennelier filled my arch studio pad....i was surprised....
Very interesting....! Thanks for sharing! Also, I appreciate how you describe your spending. I've more than once done the same, and I hope you're feeling well today. Take good care. :0)
I use a walker. I stash plein air supplies in a makeup bag. Then I cut a paper towel roll in half. And bottle of water. I got a set I saw on another video. Cannot find it to reference. The kit is from Amazon. I could not find a product code but it is called portable mini tin box, 12 well empty watercolor palette… it comes with magnetic clips. I clip palette and water pot on the sketchbook which I got about as size as yours. Yours looks interesting too. Tell me how it works
I hope you enjoy your birthday haul 🥰🥰🥰 I have the same sketchbook and I love the paper 🥰 I have it under a different name but it's pretty identical so I hope yours is as nice as mine 😊 aaaah so many beautiful Holbein colors 🥰 I just checked and if anyone is interested their 60 tube set is priced nicely as well!
Happy Birthday! These are awesome gifts! My bday was September 8th. I'm going to guess you're a Virgo as well, because you talked about a budget for fun. lol I do the same! I hope your channel takes off so that you can increase your art supply budget! 🎨☺ The Holbein Irodori Gouache sets are on my wish list. ❤ I love Escoda brushes. Are you planning on swatching Irodori sets, creating a review video, or create a video painting with them?
Ahhh that's my birthday toooo! Happy Birthday!! I'm not sure yet about the Iridori videos. I've been using it a lot, and have been recording it, so you'll probably see it in a lot of my upcoming videos. lol It's really a great set! I hope you had a great birth month, and thank you very much for the channel support!
Actually, about half of that at NZD $500. Still a very expensive haul, nonetheless, and why I mentioned the cost. However, NZD has Marilyn Waring, and that’s priceless. Cheers!
@@ThePortlandArtStudio lol, I might have been a little facetious but I wasn’t talking about a straight dollar exchange… the items are usually double price anyways over here, then you can double it again with the exchange rate and shipping! (Ie. 120 wood box Polychromos are $800-$1000 here… US Is what? under >$300/$499 NZD) We have an expensive hobby for sure… but I still have to buy ALL.THE.THINGS! 😂
I have that same pallet from genny Q, but mine has a Chinese brand name on it. Definitely the same watercolor. I got it because I loved how low profile the palette was and was surprised when the watercolors inside were actually good. I love that little pallet.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for commenting! I’m quite impressed with that little palette, and it’s good to know that you’re enjoying yours too! I’m glad I stumbled upon it. Have a great evening!
I have one too, but I try to avoid bringing it bc I always put too much stuff in it -- I will fill it with this, and that, and then more of this and that, and then it ends up adding too much extra weight to my chair. lol
I’m happy you found a way to afford all the goodies, you deserve it! That’s why we work and make money, so we can use it to enjoy life
💯 Thank you for your comments! Cheers!
Love your work 😺
Thank you! 😊

Lol the Escoda Prado brushes they are my favorite and super durable
Happy Birthday=3 I wish you all the best. Thank you for sharing your awesome haul with us=)
Thank you!
I love my Betty Hayway’s brushes. I wish they made them in travel brushes.
Hqppy birthday!!!! 🎉🎉🎉Yeehaw Virgo season! The Holbein Itadori gouache is so beautiful
Inktober video, cool. I'm doing Inktober for the first time this year. Love your birthday haul.😊

Can't find the tin palette on amazon
The two palettes I got are the Jerry Q Pocket Box, and the Holbein Palm Box Plus. Both palettes are plastic by the way. I hope that helps!
@ZDD760 can't find anything like that under that name anywhere, just little tiny tins come up, sounds ideal

$300 of art supplies 4:08

Do u have the link for the palette vid?
Why do so many of you think you have to apologize for buying art supplies? Don’t apologize!
What is fishhook?
It is when the very tip of your brush, the longest hairs, bend over, like a fish hook, rather than coming to a point. So sad...

Yay! Thank you!
I have a electric scooter with a book bag attached to the back to hold my supplies
I have one too, but I try to avoid bringing it bc I always put too much stuff in it -- I will fill it with this, and that, and then more of this and that, and then it ends up adding too much extra weight to my chair. lol
