I was at college a friend of mine gave me a tape to listen,I am hooked up ever since.That was almost 40 years ago,I kept all my records and still love them.
It was a FRENCH TV's Program(the best I'd ever seen, Sunday at 5.00 pm on FR3 Channel, when I saw VIRGIN PRUNES in this Video in 1983, I FALLED IN LOVE FOR EVER & EVER
Gavin Friday got himself a hell of a look. When you watch their beginnings, he finetuned that really well. And he's a heck of a performer. Shame he didn't act a bit. Very impressive man. I watched him doing spoken word in Brussels. Wow, some people do more without a band than others with 20 guys on stage. He performend Under white clouds. I guess it didn't get much better anymore after that. Shame to have missed them at Seaside 83.
L'ÉCHO DES BANANES was the Best French Rock Program on the 3rd channel FR3 during only 2 years 1982 to 1983 . The Program Presenter was EDDICK RITCHELL, ex-Singer from the popular FRENCH GLAM BAND "AU BONHEUR DES DAMES" (Dressed and very make up like Girl or drag queen, they were about Ten in the Group, they had a famous hit in 1974 "Oh Les FILLES" mean Oh The GIRLS" story of a men who changes every day of girlfriend and the last one was a Boyfriend, they always sang funny songs) . The Program was very trenky : Punk, New and Cold Wave, EBM etc... Famous Group like VIRGIN PRUNES, THE CURE, THE CLASH, BAUHAUS, SIOUXSIE SIOUX, DEPECHE MODE, FRONT 242, NEW ORDER etc.. and others Underground Bands . I discovered Bands i named with this Program (All Sundaysat the end of the Afternoon, UNFORGETABLE !
