Great video, your process very well explained thank you. 👍
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Wow! Best content out there! I learned more in this one video than dozens of others that never get to the point. Thank you! Would love some visuals. What do you use for your keyword research? 😊
Thank you so much! That’s my goal, just straightforward High value content. If you checkout my keyword research video I outline my exact process :)
Another great video!
Thanks, Howard. I really appreciate the support!
Great video! Thank you, very generous to share with everyone. Subscribed! Cheers from Nova Scotia!
Thanks, April! :) Greetings from BC!
Hey Ken, great content, thanks for sharing! I'm just starting out on the publishing business, just wondering if you have to trademark your pen name and to make sure that the name is not already trademarked in different countries? Thanks!
Thanks for the support and welcome! In terms of pen names, you don’t really need to trademark them. Maybe if you’re creating a brand name for your pen name, then you can, but regular names it’s fine. Simple rule of thumb is just make it unique. Don’t copy best selling authors as this can cause some complications. Hope this helps!
Thanks for your quick response, this is very helpful!@@KenSelfPublishing
I have recently discovered your channel and have been really digging into what you teach about keyword research. I just wanted to know if this applies to ALL high content meaning both non-fiction and fiction. I see a lot of KDP videos out there and when I'm done watching it I sometimes think, "Wait. That seems more geared toward non-fiction... I wonder if that applies to fiction also?"
Thank you and keep making great content!
Really appreciate the support! My Info is directed toward non fiction, the sole reason being is fiction is a totally different beast. Very hard, very subjective. Mainly relies on having an audience, lots of reviews, or already making 10k+ with non fiction and have the tool to start a big fiction brand.
Hey Ken thank you so much for sharing this as I’m still really new to amazon publishing. When it comes to finding keywords, is there a certain search result count I should be looking for? Like would a search result of less than 500 be good?
For high content books under 5000 is great! Definitely checkout my keyword research video, I cover all keyword related questions!
@@KenSelfPublishing I have one specific question - how many impressions daily did you have with your amazon ads?
Thank you so much for the video! Quick question: Should books with different genres or topics be kept in separate accounts, perhaps under different authors' names? And is it alright to have, let's say, one book on one account and ten on another, and so forth?
You are only allowed one account per entity (business) so definitely don’t try and make multiple accounts. There’s nothing wrong with having a bunch of different books under one account and different pen names. That’s what most people do
@@KenSelfPublishing Thank you so much for the response, much appreciated! Got it!
Hi Ken, thanks for another great video. Just a question what do you mean a keyword with very high demand but with minimal competition? How can you tell if the keyword has high demand, do you mean the searches but with minimal competition? Thanks Ken just got a bit confused there.
To simplify this I mean a keyword with minimal books on the topic (or search results), but all the relevant books are selling well. People want books on the topic, but there isn’t thousands of books stopping us from ranking on page 1 of the keyword. I go into more detail wirh my keyword research video/high content keyword research video. No problem! It’s a very confusing topic and takes a while to get the feel for.
Cool thanks for explaining that Ken. Do you think 3,000 search results is to much with minimal books on that topic but there selling well. Thanks again Ken!@@KenSelfPublishing
For medium content books like kids activity books, mazes, writing, word search. Soduku, etc…… how are you defining “good” keyword ? How do I know if I have landed a good keyword?
People find and buy my notebooks with no reviews or marketing. Someone ordered almost £20 worth, do you think they’ll do well with ads?
Of course! There is clearly a market. The key here will be targeting the right keywords to see more of the same people. I’d try just targeting a few of the main keywords you’re targeting and see how it goes! It might be also good to try targeting some similar products to yours to take some sales from people on other product pages!
that's a good idea, because I definitely read all the negative reviews from one particular notebooks seller and did everything the reviewers were asking for with my notebooks...just added that as something to explore, thanks for jugging the idea@@KenSelfPublishing
Elite content as alaways, i have a question regarding a problem im facing if you don't mind ?
Lets hear it!
@@KenSelfPublishing im making coloring books, in bleed setting 8.5×11", when making the interior in canvas i add the 0.125 and 0.25 that im supposed to add however after listing the book i receive the email that there is a problem with the interior and im supposed to add 0.125 and 0.25, thanks for your time brother your content is very helpful
Check your size trim if it's bleed or without bleed. Probably you are using bleed and those pictures do not cover fully the page. Make sure your illustrations are expanding up to the page
@@sinjresssinjress2639 Thanks a lot brother, it worked
Thanks for such an informative video. Did you use an Advance Reader Team?
Glad you enjoyed it! I did before I had a bit of an audience now my email list for my books is technically my early readers team, but reaching out to people and creating a review team is definitely a good tactic for reviews. It’s tedious, but worth it. It’s only getting that initial book going that’s difficult. Once you have an email list that’s consistently growing you won’t have to do it anymore and you’ll always have people to read your books early to review!
i havent got a single order . i have worked on keywords also
Hello bro, my ads impression has been reducing. It was first around 22 thousand then later reduce to 21 thousand. This is the first time I am experiencing this. What could be wrong?
This seems like a small change could just be change in season. Books fluctuate throughout the year it’s not always going to be the same

Alright Ken.. Thanks
I've just subscribed to you
How do I increase on the books I already published
How do I increase sales on books I already published?
Ken you have great information but it's so hard to hear what you're saying unless I'm sitting right in front of the computer with the volume fully turned up. You're practically whispering on your videos. Can you try speaking louder and projecting your voice a bit more? That would be appreciated.
Try Closed Captions...they help
Great content friend. QUESTION: do you publish with your real name? Or use a fake name and fake authors page? Thanks.
Thanks so much! I have one pen name with a random profile, and one pen name but it is branded as myself, just wirh a different name. Doesent matter what you do. I’d suggest using yourself with a pen name. Then its personal to you while staying anonymous, and when family/friends ask about your business it’ll still be you and not like an opposite gender pen name or something.
At 5:40 you crafted a 10000+ word outline? That would be a whole book, no?
You mean a 10000+ word book with a strong outline?
Maybe I'm missing something?
A high-content book is 25,000-35,000 words. Sweet spot being 30,000 which makes a perfect medium sized book around 150 pages that covers everything you need but with no unnecessary fluff. My outline was around 10,000 so basically a point form version of the book with a lot of descriptive element’s, simply outline every chapter with resources to accompany. You don’t necessarily need an expert on the topic to write your book you just need a strong outline showcasing exactly what the book will be. Any decent writer can turn a good outline into a great book.
I'd like to listen to your video on creating titles
Will absolutely be creating a video on this! Stick around and stay tuned :)
@@KenSelfPublishing Awesome! Thank You
@@KenSelfPublishing And where do you commission a book to be written? FIver? Urbanwriters?
I created a low content notebook. It's on the first page of amazon. Is this a good thing? I'm not really sure what i should do next.
On the first page of your specific keyword? The placement per day isn’t really important as wirh nee books Amazon boosts them, what important if it’s being reflected in the sales. With low content books like that it’s more of a volumes game, keep searching for keywords and keep making note books!
@@KenSelfPublishing yeah, it's on top of the page. I have about 13 notebooks right now.
@@GaM3rOmega do you use bookbeam?
@@dazzlinggleam7399 no, never heard of it.
Unfortunately your winning keywords are not coming anywhere, I don't have them in spam, I don't know what's going on. Is your bookbeam discount code for the first month or every month?
I will look into this, thank you! Make sure to join my Facebook group for updates
The 50 code is for 50% off your first month on yearly plans, and the 10% code is 10% off every month for a year on month-to-month plans:)
@@KenSelfPublishing thank you
Hey are you willing to share what book this is? Or is that like a magician giving away a trick?
I potentially will talk about my niches in the future in let’s say a course or something but for the general public I like to keep it a secret! Not about gaining competition ( this is in a really technical niche and I’m confident most people wouldn’t be a create it) but just to keep my business safe
Show the practical approach. We don't want text and theory content
If I did that for this video it would be An entire course. What is going to get you Amazon success is understanding the overarching strategy like this, not me showing you how to create a Fiverr listing. Here is the practical approach: Go to a google doc, outline every step of this video. Fill in each section wirh stuff you know already, Like the important information I mentioned about a good keyword and such. Once that’s done see what’s blank, maybe it’s what makes a good cover, or a few pieces of the launch phase. Now either watch and stay tuned for my videos, or go find other videos on the missing content. (There out there) after you fill in the blanks you have an entire structure of what you need to do and how to do it. Now Just go do it. Good luck!
Do you use publisher rocket for keyword research prior to picking a topic?
I personally don’t, no. I use bookbeam to help me during the process but neither of them are necessary. Checkout my keyword research video for my process!
Can you talk louder? It's hard to get you
Yes, I'm actually getting better at talking every and trying to improve the clarity of the audio!

Thank you for sharing this information. My issue is that I'm stuck at choosing a niche or sub-niche. Most of the time, the fact that there are few books on that niche just means that there's no one looking for those books. So, I keep going back and ending up at the same point. How do you choose keywords? Which niche did the book that made you so successful focus on?
Definitly a tough part of the process. I would watch my keyword research video. I outline my exact process I use to find good niches! It’s definitely hard, but take your time and finding a good niche will make all the difference. I have a list of 51 winning keywords you can download in the description, maybe have a look and see if anyone stands out to you!
