    One of the best interviews I've seen on the subject. The only way it could have been any better is if: 1) that guy with the air hose took a long lunch; and 2) Ted was there as well. I'm glad to see that there is a company that really listens to it's community. The fact that Matt, Ted and Shane were all involved in the creation of those scopes is what drives my excitement to try them out!

    Fantastic interview and product overview with Matt! Thanks for all you do for us air gunners. I'm still impressed the way that different factions of the air gun world are willing to work with one another to promote and or improve one another's products. Looking forward to getting my hands on a Titan scope. Safe travels.

    All 3 may be great scopes for the money. But the way Matt handled the point of manufacturing made it seem as if he was embarrassed/ashamed of two of them. Not the best way for a spokesman or salesman to instill confidence. But, the video was very informative and enjoyable. Thanks for posting.

      From memory, the $400 is manufactured in China, the other two, I don't recall. I don't believe there's anything for him to be embarrassed about, a lot of great scopes we've come to know and love come from there (Hawke, UTG, MTC, Optisan, Vortex, Athlon, Weihrauch, Aztec, ect). Best, Steve

    I wish people would quit using he same cliché analogy of "These 400 dollar scopes are as good as the ones that are 2x the price". So that means that the 400 dollar Helix is as good as the Titan and the 800 dollar Titan is a good as the 1500 dollar Nexus. Obviously this is 100% bullshit talk and means nothing.
    Thank you for the awesome videos and that rant isn't directed at you but everyone that reviews scopes.

      It's been a long time so I don't recall but I don't remember that being the message we were sharing. It somehow it did come across that way, for clarification, the Nexus is definitely more scope than the Titan, and the Titan more scope than the Helix (in terms of quality, features, and refinement). That being said, I shoot at the same level of 100 yaed performance with all three. Best, Steve

    Inspiring video!
    Are the Element scopes also made for springers.
    A pcp is quite soft to the scope, while spring loaded are very aggressive on the optic.
    I have only spring loaded airguns and would like to invest in a Element scope (so I hope for a positive answer 😊)

    Exciting...no doubt. I particularly liked Matt's graceful "push back" on the sourcing of glass/etc (10:35). As a photo/video pro for more years than I want to admit and having spent more money on lenses than automobiles (ok, that was a bit of a stretch) I've learned the importance of the engineering details associated with manufacturing. Tolerances and other quality control on the assembly bench are AS, or more important than the components. IMHO, he was spot on asking people not to prime their expectations based on component source/origin data. Get them, shoot, them and then decide. My order is in. Damn you AEAC for another great episode and another big dent in my wallet. :)

    I went to my local car dealership to get an oil change for my 20 yr old truck. I gotta tell ya I felt like I was on another planet with all the shiny new trucks ($45,000 plus) and hot new cars. It hurt my eyes they were so shiny and new. Watching this presentation on this new line of scopes I started to get that same feeling again. I had to ask myself, do I really need a scope of this quality for the many air rifles that I have? Am I being left behind with all this progress? I got the sinking feeling that indeed
    I am falling behind. I admire the new scopes that Matt presented. I really don't feel the need for one of them at this time. It's nice to know the new scopes are out there. I am what is called a satisfied market segment.

    Hi Steve, once again I find myself turning to you for opinions and thoughts as I hold your reviews quite high on my list.
    That being said, I have a comparison to ask you - scope wise. Element Helix 6x24 FFP or Vector Taurus 5x30 FFP?
    Keep in mind that the Helix whilst being roughly 200$ more, could be negligible for some but tremendous for others. I know Element is VERY popular, and with reason, but I'd like to know if Vector are comparable, quality wise. The Discovery HD could also be a contender, maybe?

    The 2-7X is severely overlooked and it is the most useful magnification range for pest control. I urge you to produce a second focal plane AO scope in this range. Nothing has been made in this category for 15 years.

    • @smartiejl
      @smartiejl 4 роки тому

      John Kent
      The 1-8x is becoming a standard for low magnification range now, so 2-7x is in a way obsolete. But I agree AO parallax adjustment designs are not receiving enough love for LPVOs that they deserve.

    • @DOCKent-3339
      @DOCKent-3339 4 роки тому

      @@smartiejl not many folks are going 1-8X or even 1-6X on rim fires or air guns. Beeman made a 2-7X that was a rebranded Sharp or Scott. Those are commanding premiums of $400 in good shape today. I haven't seen anything focusing down to 7 yards since I gave up my scope. I managed to get the last two Leupold 3-9x33 Light Weights and still I miss the 2X setting.

    Steve this is the best "airgun" video that I have ever seen. I have been a long time subscriber of your channel, Giles channel and Airgun 101, Matt's channel, Teds channel and .....channels and feel that I know what I am talking about (a dangerous thought). Anyway I thoroughly enjoyed the video. I do have some questions/thoughts. First, since you were shooting in an FX factory I assume that the scopes are PCP rated but were they springer rated? I don't recall hearing that they were. Second my passion is ultra long range shooting, in excess of a mile. I do this frequently and quality scopes with sufficient magnification and elevation adjustment are the limitations to ultra long range. Magnification is more important to me as I can use other means for elevation adjustment. In short 20-25 power is not enough. Yes I understand that these scopes were designed by airgunners, but Matt clearly stated that these were scopes for powder burners first that would work great for airgunners. And yes I did hear that long range shooters were not included in those that these scopes would work for. So, are there plans for other models if this line is successful? That sure seems like an anticlimactic question for such a diatribe. Any thoughts?

    • @AEAC
      @AEAC  4 роки тому

      Couldn't say if they're Springer rated. I'd guess not at this time until they test (or let me test) but maybe Matt can let us know about that and your other question.

    6-24x50 ( 450 $ scope ) with plastic covers ... the spring gone 4 days after arriving !! I had to fix( keep them open ) those with rubber bands .
    This sucks !!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for an answer and please upgrade the Helix and Titan ( if they don´t have it already ) Thanks again !!!

      ... I don't know. A lotta superb $400 scopes that gunners have been using for a lotta years are made in Taiwan. Hawke Sidewinder, Aztec Emerald, Optisan EVX & EVE, Leapers/UTG, now Element... I'm sure there's more. What's the matter with Taiwan?

      @@AEAC The problem is there are two many other good scopes that are from the same place but have illuminated reticals and are ffp . They are trying to get 400 for a non illuminated and only a spf . Its not going to sell . For 399 you can get a swfa 10x40 military spec scope . I'm just telling you for that price no one is going to buy a sfp scope that doesn't have illumination when you can get a ffp with illumination. Just one scope for example the Athlon FFP 6-24x50 Argos BTR Gen 2 30mm Riflescope www.swfa.com/athlon-6-24x50-argos-btr-gen-2-30mm-riflescope-1.html?___SID=U

      @@Sertao2013 For anyone who's come across his exchange, my field reports are that the Helix is selling like Snickers bars. UA, PA, SPAW, and AGD, are all reporting super fast flip of Helix inventory. I'm even seeing Krale Europe (largest European airgun distributor) and here in the U.S. Optics Planet have both picked the Helix up... Optics Warehouse UK too. That's all telling a very different story from the commentor's sentiments. Best, Steve

      @@AEAC I'm not saying anything bad about the scopes I just saying you can get a ffp and a lighted reticle for the same amount of money that are made in the same factory . With the tiny reticles the Helix has you can't see it and are useless at 6 power in the woods . There are videos about this already on youtube . They need to be illuminated . If the scope was illuminated and ffp I would think about getting it . This video is a older video and I'm pretty sure they have the Helix in ffp now and not just sfp but still no illumination . If your a airgunner and you take this scope in the woods and are aiming on the ground at rabbits or squirrels your not going to be able to see the reticles . That's all I'm saying . And its not just me I'm just telling you what I have read and videos have watched . Do this Steve take the nexlix ffp scope out and set it at 6 power walk into a wooded area and look through the scope and come back to this reply and tell me if you can see the reticle or not . In one video I watched he shows the reticle at 6 power and he is right you can't see it . He even said if you are planning on using the scope on 6 power to get another scope . Thats how small it is and without illumination and you can't see the reticle you just wasted 400.00 They might be selling like snicker bars but once people find out they can't see the reticle the scopes will be sent back .

    To all the people who doubt the quality of these scopes.... Particularly the nexus.... Do you really think that a man who has been shooting with NF glass is going to bring a scope to market of lesser quality? I doubt... If anything the Nexus is likely on par with NF in the $2000+ range....we must all remember that NF, S&B, Valdada etc.... All these brands have built a reputation and are known for being some of the best... And you definately pay more because of it! They could jack up prices by 10% and people would still buy because they have to have that name. In my opinion you are getting more ripped off by these 'top' brands that anything..... I think the nexus is more scope than the NXS for less..... Now that seems like money well spent.... I for sure would blindly put my money on the Nexus with confidence... To Matt and the rest of the Element family....continue on smartly and be proud of this achievement.

      Sure, open sights on the Impact would looks silly, but what about the Streamline?
      I do think that a 5 to 20 X scope on an airgun is over the top. They are not long range devices, and shooting from anything but a very steady rest is difficult with too much magnification. Yes, the scopes are multipurpose; but they are being presented by and to airgun enthusiasts...
