I lot of fans are assuming we have a large amount of money to spend and get a lot of players in. I think the reality with PSR and the fact if we get players in we have to pay agents fees more wages etc the actual amount is around £100M net tops excluding what we have spent on Lewis Hall. So we have to go for players who are just below the top level which is our policy at the right price. It was also indicated in recent interviews the changes will be incremental in the squad. Based on that I think we will get in RW and CB but after that it will depend on who we sell. If we dont sell I cannot see us getting in a CF unless spend less on a RW/CB or sell miggy and or Trips.

"Proven" strikers will cost way too much - they don't grow on trees and the few that are out there will be >£50M, a third choice striker is much more likely if we're spending big on a RW and medium for a CB. It will cost a lot more than the value of Wilson (with his injury record) to sell/replace him and they'd only play second fiddle to Isak anyway. We could splash the cash but we all know where that will lead on 30th June 2025. Fraser can go and just sit out the rest of the year - if we have to pay his wages for this final season of his contract we'd be better not assisting Southampton to our own detriment - why would we help him and them. He'll have to take a cut next season anyway and if he had any sense he'd be better not jeopardising his current opportunity. What an absolute idiot!

"Proven" strikers will cost way too much - they don't grow on trees and the few that are out there will be >£50M, a third choice striker is much more likely if we're spending big on a RW and medium for a CB. It will cost a lot more than the value of Wilson (with his injury record) to sell/replace him and they'd only play second fiddle to Isak anyway. We could splash the cash but we all know where that will lead on 30th June 2025.
Fraser can go and just sit out the rest of the year - if we have to pay his wages for this final season of his contract we'd be better not assisting Southampton to our own detriment - why would we help him and them. He'll have to take a cut next season anyway and if he had any sense he'd be better not jeopardising his current opportunity. What an absolute idiot!
Wilson is staying we wont get as good as striker as him for the money we get when we sell him I expect there will be a year extension on his contract. 20 games for him this year 12 goals I would take that all day long I think we will sign another striker this season a junior partner so to speak as cover for both Izsak and Wilson

As it stands, we have a significantly weaker squad than last season, add our injuries to that and it's quite worrying. Our goalkeeping situation alone needs urgent attention as Dubravka is still the second best keeper we have but probably not for long. Then there is the second striker, central defence, the right wing, a defensive midfielder and maybe even cover for Tino if Trippier leaves.

Three things come to mind about the current transfer window. There are two shopping lists, the one before Paul Mitchell joined and the new one he has brought with him. Whatever list they have, there is a budget, and it is being spread so thin they are reluctant to spend too much on any one player. If Eddie Howe has the final say on players coming in, we won't be signing anyone because he doesn't want any of the spent forces, injury prone liabilities, or simply not good enough squad players to leave. There is time, but it will be last minute, bargain basement signings after the ambitious clubs have gone out and defied the ffp and signed the players they want, while Newcastle run scared of their own shadow.
