Quite a few roads near me were badly flooded because our council never bothered to clean out the rivers, the gullies and drains. Two towns near me flooded and a lot of families had to leave their homes in the middle of the night, it must have been terrifying for them. My little cavapoo hates rain anyway and getting her paws wet, so I spent the last week picking her up and carrying her to some grass. We seem to be getting these heavy floods more frequently than what I can remember from decades ago. Glad that you are both well😊

Sweet Sherpa seems very happy there & so comfy to just lay down & sleep in the middle of the yard. He is such a precious happy doggie & such a good boy. Jamie, yes it was a good precaution to take it down. You just never know how the wind could damage anything. Glad it was only the birdbath that was knocked over and the bird house’s leaned over.

Glad you survived the storm. I have survived 2 hurricanes, 1 tornado, and an ice storm. Sherpa was not worried about the storm coming, but was not about to go out in it. Stay safe.💜💜💜
I've survived tornadoes from living in Nebraska 24 years worth, hurricanes from living in Virginia for 32 years now, and my first hurricane was when I was less than 1 year old. Sprinkle in many white out blizzards and quite a few ice storms. Trust me when I say, what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Oh I forgot about 2 earthquakes and a forest fire or two and one swamp fire! 😮
Thank goodness you are in your new home. Wouldn't have fancied weathering that storm in your old place.

Just glad you managed to weather the storm Jamie and didn’t get any damage, the other week when we had all that rain up here in chesterfield and all the floods it caused 500 pounds worth of damage to my roof lol, Sherpa isn’t fazed by anything bless him just slept through like a champ, you did the right thing though taking the Gazebo down, hope you both have a lovely weekend.xx
Glad to see things went well and there wasn't any damage done .Also you were smart to take down your gazebo, 90 mile an hour wind could have done some real damage, that's almost hurricane strength wind . Where I live I hate wind storms there are so many big trees around my house afraid of one falling on my house . Anyway glad you both are ok .

I think that was a wise decision, to take it down; like you said; you can put it up again. Gorgeous walk, with the beautiful clouds and the birds flying over. Glad that the storm is over and everything and everyone is okay!!! God bless Sherpa and you.🙏💗

I like that you can just chuck Sherpa out in to a field with sheep, and just suggest he don’t chase them. The goodest of boys.

Weathering a storm always gives me a sense of achievement. Sometimes staying put seems like a big step forward.
You were so so right to take down the tent! Hurricane force winds are nothing to play around with- flying debris can do a whole lot of damage - keep in mind chairs and other things too. I Have been through plenty of hurricanes and I’m so over them. I am so glad you and Sherp have a warm safe house now!
Just prior to storm clouds pouring, I brought my hanging bird seed feeders indoors. Wet seed stays wet & molds.
Im glad lord jamie and lord sherpa survived the storm.i dont blame sherpa for not wanting to be out in it,it looks very nasty.but after awhile his walk was just beautiful .what a beautiful place to walk in among nature and the lovely sheep to see.
Sherpa wasn’t fazed by the storm because he knows dad will protect him and storms wouldn’t dare hurt popular lords
Better safe than sorry. Sherpa loves his yard. Like his harness. It looks a lot easier to get him in and out of van. Love how he checks the sheep’s out. At least he got out for a bit. It turned out great for his walk. He looks like he was worried about the storm. Love how he greets you in the morning. Glad you had no damage. Please be safe. Love you guy’s ❤❤❤❤

Hey Jamie- here in our part of the US we get bad storms and big wind gusts. Def agree with you taking down the cover over your porch and sheltering the lightweight chairs- maybe in your shed. Happy to see Sherpa so frisky- give him hugs during the blusters. Our doggo hates the windstorms and sky booms
I think you were right to take your canopy down. Not worth getting it bent or torn. That old sniffer, at 13, still works better than ours!! Dogs are amazingly being taught to find cancers, & have been successful in studies, more than actual approved tests. We owe a lot to dogs...who aren't really dogs anyway...they're super humans in disguise ..lol!! Just love him so much. After our dogs passed years ago, Sherpa has been my "dog fix" on You Tube. Bless you both!!
Thank fluff you’re in a sturdy house. It’s still a good idea to have a torch in every room along with extra batteries just in case the lights do go out.

We had 80mph winds...blew our metal patio roof up over the house! It was terrifying. it was also the scariest sound I've ever heard.
Sherpa seemed totally unconcerned about the storm, especially because he was safe inside with Pops. Glad everything was ok for the most part. Those bird feeders looked like they ended up horizontal! 😅 The 🐦🐦 seemed unfazed. Stay safe. Happy Friday Jamie & Sherpa 🎉💖🌞

I wish we had rain. Glad everything stayed safe there except for the bin breakage. Really surprised and happy there were not lots of trees down. And yes, treemen love storms. My boyfriend in college was a tree man and after storms he would get in his truck and drive around town. When he saw branches down; he would knock at the person's door and offer to cut up the branches. Or to make an appt to have their tree trimmed later on. But, he was not a tree surgeon. He was a tree man.Treemen climb with ropes. It is not as safe as a cherry picker; but they are better qualified.

We had 7 hours of 80 mph winds a few months ago . I didn't have any damage except small limbs off my tree's. All around me the damage was bad . Glad ya'll are ok .🙏🙏💖💖

I'm glad it wasn't as bad as it sounded, and that everything is fine. The last windstorm we had blew a bunch of shingles off my roof. Love to both of you from Susan, Annie, and Louis in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

Jamie, I am so glad that there was no damage from the storm. I agree that you should have taken down the pop-up canopy tent, because better safe than sorry. However, you obviously didn't have 90 mph winds otherwise the lawn chairs would have been blown away. I hope it is not too difficult to put back up the pop-up canopy tent. It is so nice having it covering your deck. Sherpa wasn't about to go out for a wee while it was raining.
Haha! Poor little birds! They fed even with the birdfeeder bent by the storm. Poor sweets.🤗🐦🐥🐦 I love when Sherpy goes to wake Jamie up in his bedroom in the morning 🌄and how he 🐕wagged his tail when he looked at Jamie in the garden near the trees.🌳🌳🌳 It's good that you have friendly neighbors nearby.😀😘🐕❤❤
Glad the house and garden survived the rainstorm and high winds. We had Santa Ana winds two nights ago in SoCal. They blew the fronds off the palm trees.
I think you were right to pull it down. It really just means that it will last a lot longer from wear and tear, because blustery winds take their toll over time. I love the way you do all the worrying, so Sherpa can keep on sleeping, lol ...

Good idea taking your stuff down and secure it. Little hint - double the windspeed means square (=4 times) the force, and with turbulence like around a building, it may get much worse.
Sherpa may be willing to ignore it, but he was made for this - your little tent and the rest on your terrace isn’t.
I think you were wise to take the gazebo down. That’s Hurricane strength winds. And was that hail? Do I want to go to the toilet?! Do I look mental dad? Seriously, beautiful wander during the day into scary night. Cornwall is rockin’ button down the hatches before the next big blow. Bless the birdies and the Sherpie and Jamie who keeps it all going.

Take everything down, put loose items away (grill, etc). We live on a hill and a 70 mph wind tore the roof of our camping trailer and blew our heavy aluminum canoe across the road and into a gully. Good luck

We were crossing the Atlantic in the QE2 in September 1997 , woke up at 2am , Hurricane Erika had caught us.
I've never been seasick before, I just wanted to die , went on for hours .
Having said that, Northumberland was hit twice 2 years ago in short succession by hurricane winds, one recorded at 118mph , we learned to take everything inside the house, or, at least the garage, we lost 1,000s of trees in our forests, especially Keilder , storm Arwen , won't forget that in a hurry either. So glad you & your home came out unscathed 😉

Take it down, here in Ca. we have had storms like that, houses are fine, fences and tarps are gone. Prayers for you and Sherp!
Yes, good idea to take it down 90 miles an hour. Can up root large trees. That is like hurricane force winds. I know I live in Southern Florida. Stay safe & luv u both❤❤❤❤!!

Jamie, in September 2022, this girl from Illinois got to appreciate Hurricane Ian, a Category 5 storm which made landfall on the very west of Cape Coral. The storm was not projected to turn east, and we only had a couple hours warning. Three adults, a teenage and 2 dogs, and we made it through.
These types of non-controllable, I lay at Our Father's feet, and we made it through. ❤

I was in England a month ago, and I had blue skies every day.
We get regular ice and snow storms during the Winter here in Canada. After more than thirty years, I’m still not used to them and they scare the pants off of me 😮 (I’m a Brit by birth). I remember the hurricane of 1987 and it was scary, as well. I’m so glad that you and Sherpa weathered it so well. Take care ❤

Taking the canvas off would probably have been enough. The frame doesn't catch the wind much.

Was this storm Ciarán? It was a good one, had it here aswell. Taking it down is a good idea, like you said, you can always put it back up. Should it be up and get destroyed, and even make damage elsewhere, you'd have to buy a new one, and maybe pay for damages, so better safe the sorry 😊
