What do you do when it’s 8 degrees outside? Sit by the “fire” and listen to your DX-150. Nice group of radio’s, picked up a DX-150 a few years ago, but it didn’t have the speaker, hooked up a substitute until I find an original. Stay warm!
Looks like you found some nice stuff! I'm looking forward to seeing that DX-150 in action! I saw lots of stuff there I thought about buying but I've got so many neglected projects already that I talked myself out of brining anything home. Even though I didn't buy anything, Shelby 2024 was one of the most memorable hamfests I have ever attended. Meeting up with you after all this time was the highlight of the whole trip for me, but as you said everyone I talked to was friendly and genuine and that made my day. Taking a solo road trip, camping, and playing radio along the way was something I had wanted to do for a long time and I'm really glad I finally was able to do it. The only bummer was not being able to meet up with my sister who lives near Shelby like I had originally planned as she had to go out of town at the last minute to help out her granddaughter that weekend.
Love that full size short wave they had the big radio look ..now there smaller than a pack of smokes tiny buttons ..that was something you could play with
Radio Community is great for sure thanks !I had CB back in late 70's and just got a base going again over 40 years later, I am running a QT040 and a Siro 27 Ground Plane. also a TRC 457
I enjoy my DX394, a great mix of analogue and digital. A very sensitive receiver on my random 10m wire. I have just purchased a mint condition BCL- 2000, the last of the single conversion, totally analogue receivers - great fun to use.
My experience with the RS DX-150B: Single conversion at 455KHz IF images of stronger stations will be evident. Use of a preselector ahead of the radio helps quite a bit. Sensitivity above 21 MHz is lower, but some stuff can be heard. After purchasing my 150B, I heard AM broadcast stations in the daytime I had never heard before which was a lot of fun. 73
Hello Erik; great video as always. I have owned and used a cobra 142 gtl and the JC penny ssb mobile rig. The jc penny ssb is actually a good radio with good receiver. Getting the ssb side aligned is always the problem with those. But once properly aligned and tuned it will and can be a great go to rig. Unfortunately it doesn't like automotive computer systems and will hear noises you never knew existed. Its best used as a base radio on a power supply. The colt mobile ssb is similar. Nice radio shack receivers, good to have. 73 GOD bless Earnest K5EWM 👍.
Your Almost at 100k subscribers! Great job.
Thank you- It is all thanks to all my supporters

Ugh, nothing like 8 degrees and 8" of snow is coming, the fire sounds really good right about now.
@ Can’t wait! Haha. Hopefully the snow will hit after I get home from work tomorrow evening.

Good Morning Erik It would have been awesome to meet you...
Maybe next year, I'd love to have met you!
@FarpointFarms Thank you Erik
I use my 142 daily. I've had the colt radio in the past it was a good radio! 73s from 533 Colville Washington!
Glad to hear that it is still getting used!

The smaller radios have some great features, but I have fat fingers and those small buttons are the death of me sometimes.
Omg! A Cobra 🐍 142!
I love how your comment has a 'Translate to English' tool. LOL! Keep 'em coming!
Gotta watch out for those translations sometime- Google does not get them right 100% of the time

More great finds! That Cobra base station would’ve been worth the trip alone! The DX-150 is a great radio!
Shelby does not seem to disappoint me, ever.... I try to go to this one every year.

I'm really wanting to go to the Shelby Hamfest this year. I live in central Kentucky, so quite a drive for me, but would still like to go.
I think that sounds like a great road trip for you. September in NC is beautiful
The 142 gtl has always gotten me the most flowers on the band. Sadly mine is having some audio issues at the moment . 73’s

Bummer- is there anyone that you can take it to and have it looked at
Hey Eric, looking forward to your videos on the DX 394 (I'm the original owner of one in mint condition) and the DX150 model also.

I bought a 142 but I knew it had the Golden screwdriver treatment it is just hanging out now
Sounds like you need to dust it off and start talking
I miss my cobra 142 gtl. With the D 104 I used to talk everywhere on it .
142 is a classic
I had a Black Shadow back in the day, never done any Shortwave listening .. Andy 26TC597
Colt and Fanon were common scanner brands back in the 1980’s.
I would do a bit more, since it will be exposed to the wind and elements.
Is anything for sale? I like the Realistic.
Just wait until the day when someone askes you for an autograph. 🙂
That would be weird- maybe a bit humbeling
@@FarpointFarms Yeah but just wait til the movie deals start rolling in. lol
Some nice Radios 🍺
Quick question Erik what CB radio would you recommend for 78 year old guy who wants to put in his vehicle, thank.
I like have that cobra
So "friends" equals stuff. That explains my situation. I have exactly zero friends. So naturally, I'm guy that the mud ducks stand on.
no money, poor health. geez. seems like going to swap meets and making videos should be on the burner.
It helps pay the bills.
Ok, I'm jealous!❤
