You gotta love that cockpit.
Honestly, yes. I just dont really like piloting the Griffin because it has all its weapons on the one side of the mech. You can twist damage using the shield side, but only for so long. THen what? And if you lose that one side, your screwed. Its a great looking mech no doubt though.
@@CMDRFandragon depends on the variant, there is one that is comlpetly lasers across torsos and arms as well as one that is missilefocused with ecm .. at least in MW:O .. so not sure if they incuded the same variants into this game
@@CMDRFandragon As it happens that is exactly what happened earlier today, got my missile rack detonated, and a second later the enemy AI took advantage of the missile storage being on the side with all the lasers that I was completely disarmed, thankfully it was right at the end. Changed my opinion of having LRM's, two med laser and a large laser real quick.
@@vasileiosmela309 Id rather have the SRMs. Anything that gets to close gets plonked with a barrage of SRMs in the face. Usually does good damage.
Hopefully with VR support the cockpit would be amazing to play in.
I don't care about the story, I just wish the base game had THIS level of SFX and cockpit detail to give us a nice visceral experience that actually fits better with what's going on on screen. I liked where the Marauder SFX were going but they just fell short of going full ED-209, which would've been fucking awesome.

the new Yet Another Mechlab mod for MW5 can and will make this Griffin *very* viable as you can make your mech just like in MW:O.

@@CMDRFandragon Its worse than that. What they did basically invalidated every mod that was made for the games, because it changed something key in the structure.
He effectively CANT make his mods compatible...hed have to rewrite them from the ground up. And after all the work healready sank into the mods, rewriting them just to risk run the risk of Piranha pulling this stunt again would just invaildate the effort. Im pretty sure he said he has no plans to update any of his mods.
WHich fucking sucks because I was running his mods for 2 weeks and they absolutely saved the game for me and made it genuinely fun.
Then the game updated and it was back to square one.

I know for a fact that hud doesn't work with the new update, was a sad moment.

Realistically, the cockpit would be akin to the COFFIN system: fully encased in armor with cameras outside linked to an omnidirectional HUD inside.
Actually thats not "Glass". It is armor plate that Has a capability of being "Seen" through by someone inside. Thats why it is usually looks tinted, or has a color. It is not glass. Its a very neat polymer that has some super cool tech.

All i am trying to say, is that since SRMs are short range u can't have them flying at the pace of a 90y old smoker running marathon or u won't hit a moving target, on the other hand u can't have them do even more damage (and if u have an SRM only cqb build u know how op they can be) or everybody will just spam them like they do with LRMs in MWO. The way MW5 does it, is good, i would even say lore wise they are even faster (some have partial tracking) but they are intended as cheap and relatively light dumbfire weapons that can be used if u don't have the tonnage to mount something bigger.

Does one of your mods make your jump jets better or something? The acceleration from them is nuts.
I forget which one at this point, but yeah, one of them changed the jump jets and how thye function. I remember trying vanilla JJ and finding them just useless. YOu spend all your jump juice to go basically no where.
Have they fixed this game yet so its not a joke and can be finished in a commando?

love the look of thease mods but the mechs move so fast its like a twitch shooter
I find it to be more exciting. Or I did when the mods worked.
The mods he has installed make you more dangerous, but also make your opponents more dangerous. You can ACTUALLY core an enemy mech with a well placed gauss rifle round, and the mechs dont feel so stompy ponderous. They still feel like they have gravity and weight...but its weight supported by miles of Myomers and a scrappy pilot.

If you want slow, ponderous mechs, pilot a King Crab or a Banshee.

What GUI mods are you using?
Its the 3D Hud mod. It hasn't been updated and will not work with the latest version of MW5 and the author has no plans on updating. Which is a shame, its one of the nicest looking Hud mod for MW5.

I really hope the integrate clan mechs into this game as a dlc and some of the clan history and conflicts
There is one, u can find it during the Singleplayer campaign, won't spoiler how or where + there are mods coming

@@NinjaContravaniaManX SLDF or clan, it's basically the same tech level, but yeah there is no Timberwolf or other new clan mechs in this game (yet, maybe in a new DLC)
And i don't really miss them tbh, i think on nexus there are some mods adding clan weapons and soon mechs too, for those who want them.

Im so fast because with the TT Rulez mods, Oreaon changed the JJ to give a boost of speed instead of vanilla, where it just lifts you off the ground. I like em so much better.
That and Reloaded adds equipment mods that make the mech so much more nimble.

Though in the case of the TT Rulez mods, get TT RUlez AI version 7.55 and TT Rulez lancemate AI, version 5 I think it is. THe newest versions of those mods just arent working properly. Oreaon is working on a whole new version of his mod.
how did you get both ai lancemate and enemy ai mod to work? i get a conflict notification when i try to run them both
@@capitankamote Well, because alot of the conflicts you see in those mods is no issue. You just run them. HOwever, great news is the latest version of the AI mod, Oreaon combined them both into 1, so now it is just TT_Rulez AI mod, no longer lance and enemy.
How to get hud mod working with new dlc?
Not sure you can. Navid, the author, has said he isnt going to update his mods due to real life and other stuff.

current real guess would be Large Pulse Laser, but I seem to remember the griffin's a medium mech so two large energy mounts doesn't seem right ....
it wasa large pulse. This was also a mod that made slots take whatever, instead of limited by size.

No, there is no DFAing, sadly. THe Merctech mod added mech collision damage, which is about as close as we can get atm.
Sad. Headstomping was fun in Mw3/4.

I played and finished the original Mechwarrior Mercernaries from 30? yearish ago and thought it was great. Played this vanilla and didn't even finish the first mission because I thought it was bland and boring. What a shame.
So is the game fixed now, and not a pile of shit like it was at release, or what?
The DLC comes out on the 27th, who knows what all they will fix. I think the game is fine, especially with mods on.
The game never was a pos, it was good at release, with mods even better. Guess some steam nerds are still salty because ppl could play it on epic a year ago because their god Gabe did not want to pay the developers a fair amount of money.
I love how everyone plays w mods bc the base game a a watered down up scaled version of MW4 Mercs. IMO games unplayable VANILLA less you play w friends
Absolutely, the vanilla game was soooooooooooooo bland, boring, buggy and weird that I literally couldnt even get half way through the campaign before I felt absolutely compelled to mod it. Between the garbage spawning, the terribly simple and boring mechlab, the trash salvage, battles not difficult, AI were atrocious, combat was LAME(nothing like every fight being a stand in 1 spot and turn in circles as the AI run around you). AI Lancemates were all but useless, turrets were complete garbage, no challenge offered there.....
YEha, MW5 *NEEDS* its mods lol. IDK what all the DLC will bring, but I wont be giving up my mods.

Ive been playing since 2004 and played almost every Mechwarrior game.
I dont see a reason to be compelled to play it anymore SOLO
Its only fun with friends IMO and will probably always be considering the bland, grey and predictable story.
Love mechwarrior but..I just cant but feel like this just isnt up to snuff as a Mechwarrior 4 merc. SUCCSESOR
@@crusader-j4126 Personally I didnt like MW4...it felt too much like an arcade game and for some damn reason the graphics took a major dump from MW3.
That said I STILL enjoyed what little of it I played more than vanilla MW5.

If you like mechs, TitanFall 2 is the best game for it. This is super clunky gameplay compared to TF2.
I played Titanfall 2. It is a solid game, tons of fun, but what it lacks for me, is scale. THe maps are WAY to tiny for thesize of the mechs. TF2 needs maps atleast 3-4x larger. I played ONLY the Frontier Defense PVE in that game, but even that felt way to small for what it was. The Titans are awesome though. Tone is my Fav, then Monarch. I keep trying to get Legion to FD rank 20, but ooof...I dont like Legion.
@@colbyboucher6391 Sure... But in Titanfall they did a good job adding a weighty feel to the heavier titans and more nimble response from the lightweight titans.
@@CMDRFandragon They make the maps purposely small to keep you engaged. If they made them bigger then you would have players trying to camp from far away. Having a small map, keeps the energy up and you have to be on your toes at all times. There's no hiding on a TF map.
I would like Titanfall alot more if they put more emphasis on the mech combat. Just feels like Call of Duty with wasted mech potential, to me.

I think to myself, "why couldnt THIS just be the game" I'm a mechhead of all sizes, I love that shit. When I'm a pilot, it just feels like airborne, acrobatic CoD with maps too small for the mech I really wanna play

I have a valid windows, its just when I upgraded my PC, I changed the mother board and stuff.....windows is weird.

@@CMDRFandragon Your windows key is usually tied to your motherboard and components. If you change that, you have to get another key unless you go about another way. A notso legal but still safe way.

Ummm, what? They will be supported, and the modders are all waiting for the DLC to drop before they do their further modding.

@@007nikster2 Work like how? I talk to a few of the modders a little bit on discord, and a few of the ones, whose mods I use have said they are waiting for the DLC to continue working. Another says he might update his mod at a later date.

That is one shitty map design.
MW5 has horrendous map design. Like I've seen B rate Indie titles that had better map design than this game, which is SO fucking embarrassing for a TripleA title.
Its like they took every aspect of this game to 78 percent and then...stopped. Every aspect of this game comes to approximately 78 percent of realizing its potential and then...stops.
Combat. Caps. Campaign. Design.
They put more effort into designing the useless Dropship interior than they did into anything else.
The mods made this game playable.
Now the mods don't work, the game sucks chongus again.

As ive said to 100 other people, I cant.....I upgraded my PC back in 2018 and it deactivated my windows....I have even found my code and it wont accept it. Its fucking annoying honestly.
The Xbox version of this game is trash compared to this.
