It is about time somebody steps up, and it will be interesting to see if this is all Home Depots. Around here, it is Master Master everywhere, aside from ace and uhaul selling their own brands, and then the cheap chinese no name knockoffs. Walk mart has some Brinks, and of course reese, but unless you hit up locksmiths themselves, Masters are what you will find everywhere. It is sad that nobody has realized this prior, and I hope Home Depot has good luck with sales. Cuz if they don't the bean counters will stifle it and then nobody will pick up higher security locks. Most people are cheap. Looking for the best bang for the lowest cost.
So a majority of people are still going to buy the 10 dollar master lock.
You will continue to see them sitting on your shelves because of the price point.
A vast majority of people will not shell out 40 dollars for a padlock.

Thanks for the excellent video. It was funny that you seemed to have more difficulty removing the lock from the packaging than you had picking the lock.
The best padlock my Home Depot sells is a Master Lock M15 which can be raked open in a few seconds.

Hey LPL, do you have a video that explains the jargon (binding on 2, spooled pin, serated pin, etc) ??

Not on the site yet, but looking forward to seeing it there. It can be hard to find locks IRL at times that aren't Master Locks, which are a dime a dozen (and you'd be overpaying if you paid that much).

As I suspected, clam shell packaging is much more secure than any lock. Demonstrating that retail cares more about their security than any lock manufacturer cares about mine. I suppose it means that no door manufacturer ever has to offer frustration-free door opening - it's always too easy.
