I just set my unit up. I have their GStereo Bus Comp and that's been working perfectly for the job so I got this one for tracking and recording. So far it works a treat. I wasn't used to the type of compressor with no attack time but it's really easy and beautiful to use. I'm really happy with the vocal sound I'm getting from it. I can't wait to use it on synths.
These are good guys. I’ve been doing the powder coating for them for years and I am now their colonial life insurance rep. They are super friendly and Chris is a detail maniac. GREAT company Chris is building over there.
Nice and sweet... I would have loved to see stepped knobs in order to avoid stero unbalancing and perfect match of each individual channels settings. Definitely in my wish list. Thanks for the fantastic video test, as usual. Keep posting man!
Hey you can still purchase any audio scape unit even if they are out of stock at the time when you order…you will get an email when it becomes available..I picked up there LA2a I ordered it on line paid th money but it took almost a month to receive it
Hi Dave, I love everything you do! I was wondering about the RMS button and if using that might have changed your opinion on it's use on the drum bus. From what I have read and heard, the original DBX 160 VU was commonly used for drums. I really enjoy your content on both channels!
Thanks Dave!!! I wonder what you think about it being on the main outs? I am not sure but wonder why it seems that all my outboard gear does not get enough signal to them from my interface. I see plenty of signal from the daw and interface. Maybe you would know? When you order the 260vu how did you get them to add that mod before they ship it etc. everything happens so fast in the ordering process.
First of all, great vid! Would love to add that piece of gear to my collection! Second of all. How are those Presonus converters treating you? Is there drivers stable at all times?
Hi Dave! Great review as always. I also have a 260vU but mine does not have a bypass switch like yours and i don't see it either in the Audioscape website. Is that a mod you asked Chris to add to your unit?
Here is the official Audio-scape response to what the RMs button does. "The RMS button is extremely subtle. It links the timing caps of the detectors together (human ear part of the circuit) and is not a formal stereo link. If listening critically through headphones, or carefully through monitors, you can hear a slight shift in stereo image and when depressing it. "
@@MixingMusicAnalog Oh, ok. I just kept messing with that button trying to hear something. I kept thinking I was hearing something that was not there. I appreciate you getting back to me. I will use that button later on again. Cancel Reply

I think there is no stepped knobs because that’s not how the original DBX was made
The studio is beautiful ❤️❤️😍😍
Thank you very much!
Great company making great gear! Thanks for the review!
Thanks for watching! I appreciate your support

That's a question for the Audio-Scape customer service!
Hey Dave, have you tried stacking one channel into the other on a lead vocal? I'm thinking it would be amazing for that...
I have not tried that, but that is an interesting idea for sure:)

You know, I completely forgot to cover the RMS button. I am going to check that out and see how that effects things, if it does or not. :)
Aw this is great but i hope they do the DBX 165A !!
Not in the plans as of today
I'm curious how it sounds compared to your DBX revive modded compressors. I think the VCA should be similar to the THAT IC revive uses.
Maybe so. Not sure how much they charge to mod this particular unit.

I have not tried it on the master bus.

Presonus converters are just fine.

Yes it was a mod that was added and is NOT available on new units
Can you please go over what the RMS button does exactly. I do not remember you going over it in your video.

The Attack and Release are program dependent I assume?
Yes.
Is there really no insert bypass on the console?? Anyways. Nice gear. And love the channel.
There is no bypass on the console
do u have any rap vocals u can try it on?
I don't, sorry
Do you find that it increases sibilance on vox?
Not at all
How does this compare to the API 2500 hardware
no idea. I dont have the API 2500
A comparison with a real DBX 160 VU would be appropriate.
If you can get one sent to me, I would be glad to do it
true
@@MixingMusicAnalog I have one. What you can send me for this?
Hey, great review!!! I was wondering if you ever reviewed the Tegeler Creme which is a mastering EQ/Compressor?
I have not. Don’t own that particular unit
