Panda Bear in a 2023 Tone Glow interview: "Do you feel like there are things you’ve learned in the process of challenging yourself with the way you sing? I feel like there’s been eras of how I’ve tried to sing, or wanted to sing. It’s probably a reflection of where I’m at mentally. I would sing in a kind of wispy, feathery way for a while, and I remember getting really into Scott Walker because his voice came from the stomach. It was way more projected, and very masculine in a way that I liked a lot. I didn’t want to copy him but the spirit of his singing inspired me to go for my own version of that. I think I got more into a croony thing afterwards and I suppose I’m still in that zone. When would you say that change happened? Probably with Tomboy (2011). So around 2009 or so." I feel like his vocal performance during this show really shows this shift in a very excellent way.
this doesn't exist anymore even if coronavirus wasn't around. There are no "bands" who focus first and foremost on how their music is played live and develop it from that. Animal Collective would play songs 3-4 years in advance before they would even be heard on a studio album. A band like Animal Collective getting on the Top Billboard charts is a fat 0% chance now.
@@bebopcola4643 first off, that is entirely untrue, plenty of bands do exactly the same thing as far as constantly evolving their sound and trying new things live before ever recording them. Secondly, why does the billboard thing matter? One does not need to be a pop star to play respectably large shows
I hope to one day experience that. I got to see MGMT twice and even met and chatted with Andrew and James, so other than meeting Ben and perhaps the other members, the bands I want to experience live and hopefully meet are Animal Collective, Shpongle (though it's sad they won't be performing as a full band anymore, but at least there's Simon Posford), and Tame Impala. Let's hope we all get to meet our heroes, one way or another.

I saw them at Merriwether Post Pavilion around this time and they put on an amazing show. Every time I see them live they kill it. Great band, I'm so thankful to have these guys around making original and interesting music.
I saw them twice during the Centipede HZ tour.. with Noah on drums and Deakin on guitar. Dave was on keyboard/guitar/vocals. Those shows had so much energy.. still get goosebumps when I think back about it.
They came to my country 10 years ago and I couldn't see them. I though I never would see them live, but they're coming in september! I am extremely happy because of this, guys. AC is one of my three favourite bands and I will finaly see them!!!!
I really enjoyed their Amsterdam set, a couple months before this Germany set. and they still kick lass, I love how they change the sounds of their songs they give their songs different layers and sometimes offer more substance or less when playing live. and the aveys screaming is my favorite part.
Kinda curious why Avey was the one singing Panda's bits on What Would I Want Sky. I wonder if they hadn't delegated those vocals yet or if it was just hard for Panda to perform them live

10 years later... still fresh
An amazing performance by an amazing band
I like how there’s four tables on the stage, even though only 3 members are in this performance. They left a space open for Deakin.
that crew member getting crane shots of Geo's setup is doing god's work

his pitch is really good in that performance
