I liked this style! I go to Rye for the spice, dill, mint and the other classic Rye qualities and I got some of them here! It’s a bit sweet for me but not too much. I definitely get the toffee and cinnamon on the finish. I prefer Lot 40 for a Canadian Rye but this Reifel Rye isn’t bad at all and for $45 a bottle I think that is very reasonable! I like a good punch with a strong Rye, ideally at a higher ABV and this did lack that. But overall? It’s pretty good and I would say this is perfect for a person new to whisky and wanting to try Rye! Cheers! Awesome video!
Canadian rye does not need to be at least 51% rye - that is the American rule. Indeed, Canadian rye does not legally have to contain ANY rye grain to be called a rye. "Rye" is a historical nickname for any Canadian whisky. In the case of Reifle Rye, it is 91% rye, 6% Old Granddad Bourbon, and 3% Sherry. We can do strange blends like that up here, eh? 😅
Thanks for the note and you are absolutely correct! Sometimes I talk/drink without thinking it through fully and I've made a mistake or two like this in other videos too. Too bad UA-cam won't let me edit and re-post! I'd love to be able to add an on-screen text thing with a correction...Also, I didn't know this had 3% sherry! I'm going to pour myself a glass tonight and see if I can pick it out

Some delicious rye out there, it’s really underrated and overlooked I think

@shortpours drinking without thinking? Unheard of! 🤣
I have a 50ml sample bottle.
Gross.
Bourbon taste.
I hate Bourbon, I rather drink tea.
😂 what is it about bourbon that you dislike?
Aww, sounds like someone can’t handle flavour.
