Thank you so much Vanessa, you are so right about the ridiculous defenders who have put t forward the idea saying this is what the working class are all like, because it's simply not true. Most men I've come across who might be termed working class are very decent respectful men who don't behave like Greg Wallace has! I'm not at all surprised that your DM's have been bombarded with other women sharing their experience with him. He needs TO GO in my view, the sooner the better.

I am a woman and work in warehouses. I have worked in several different companies and nowhere has any man behaved like that, nor would that be tolerated. It`s an insult to pretend this has something to do with the working class, especially if some of the so called "upper class" behave like that behind closed doors, too.

It's what you get in elite bubbles.
But it is clear that the feminist media really spaff in their panties whenever a story like this pops up. They love it because they get a chance to smear all men with the brush of a tiny number of institutional weirdos.

How on earth did he get away with this disgusting behaviour for SO long ? I’d like to know how many complaints there have been over the years. Why had it been pushed under the carpet. Can’t believe the many “get over it” type comments coming from so many people in the last couple of days. I’m quite upset that people think that.

Given that John Torode, Monica Galetti and Marcus Wareing all found Greg Wallace hard to tolerate I want to know why they didn’t refuse to work with him years ago. They are the qualified chefs on the show and I don’t accept that GW somehow by force of personality, skewed the dynamics so much. If they felt intimidated as Wareing says he did, just call it out, report fully to the producers and make an ultimatum. Collectively, these three showed weakness by not dealing with him years ago. Also, GW’s recent reference to possible autism is a total red herring. His behaviour was offensive and inexcusable. I have blown the whistle several times, it is stressful and it cost me on several levels, but sometimes we have to be strong , we’re often doing it to help others. There is a greater good.

Gregg Wallace was always a horrible person to watch. I liked Torode who was much more professional. This is why people begrudge paying TV licences as the BBC employ the worst of the worst....and they've got away with bad behaviour for years!!!!

They also don't complain because in isolation each incident is probably considered borderline acceptability. Most incidents are probably not big enough alone for someone to down tools and risk being shown out the door, but once the incidents have come out publicly later on, people feel the need to speak out with their own stories. It doesn't mean all these stories are direct complaints, but they are anecdotes that corroborate the initial accusations (they may also be complaints of a certian kind though).

This is gossip though isn't it. My friend who worked on...I heard such and such said such and such. I'm not saying it didn't happen, but do we need to step back until it's investigated properly. I think what this has highlighted is how some men speak to women. I experience verbal abuse regularly. I do. Obscene verbal abuse because random men of a certain age think it's ok to talk to women like that. I think the conversation is more about where the line is for verbal harassment and this needs to be made clear to men, not whether Greg Wallace is a super villain.

I am so sick of hearing women talking about how "scary" and "threatening" his behaviour was. Scary is walking home alone down a dark street and realising you are being followed, scary is going home alone in West Yorkshire when the Ripper was on the loose. Threatening is having a man grab you from behind in a park, push you to the ground and jump on top of you or a man grabbing your crotch in a pub (a pint of beer over his head ended that) or a man putting his arm around you and "accidentally" grabbing your breast. Those things happened to me, my sister and my best friend at different times. We didn't need counselling or suffer from PTSD, nor did we run off and weep in the loo. We were more resilient.
As for smutty humour or comments we rolled our eyes and ignored it. I was never a fan of Benny Hill or Carry on films, I wasn't offended I just didn't watch them.
I can understand why contestants in the ordinary Masterchef didn't complain, they had a lot to lose by offending a presenter but "celebrities" were so "broken" by his behaviour that they had to wait 13 years to air their grievances. If they were afraid of being labelled prudish or po-faced, that is pretty pathetic, in my opinion. If it bothered you say so at the time, if it didn't shut up.
