I went to Love Center, starting at Camden, I had serious anger managment issues.Just so you know everybody needs to feel loved, when your dark skin your own people treat you different. I struggle my whole life with this issue. Bishop Hawkins taught me I was loved by Christ even being dark skined. And that I diidnt have to be angry all the time. The songs that I heard from the Hawkins family delivered me from myself.Showing me that Christ has room for all that give their life to him.
I love to hear the history; it is great to gain insight into their experiences& what formed their understandings of the Word of God.The extent of legalistic teachings & doctrines &the impact that had on them is interesting. It would have been helpful (in order to help avoid the same situation again) to also hear the viewpoint of those who represented "the church" from that era. The apparent legalism seems related to greed & hypocrisy in our society.Bishop sang Jesus set him-us- free from sin
The Hawkins Family is Blessed big time for the price them & Edwin Hawkins paid for the souls touched by this unforgettable song "Oh Happy Day." You have to endure criticism whenever God gives you a vision, and doors begin to "open" in all different ways for you to reach many lost lives in the world. Souls and lives are the most important thing as far as the gospel, not what people/nay sayers think.
Interesting history. The "church" can be cruel, at times. It's because "their" foundations are not firmly built on Scripture. As Edwin puts it-and I agree- a Pastor must '...search the Scriptures, whether those things are so" before condemning a person or their upbringing. We (Christians) plant the seed. God takes over from there.
Donnie tickle me Walter had the crowd stirred up, getting ready to have church...then Donnie said...stop...stop...and took over the conversation.....repeating the same things Walter was saying....Lord have mercy...
