"I Love The Lord"- Celebrating 37 Years of Love Center Memories!!!

- This is the 1st of a few special presentation clips that I will be putting together in honoring Of Bishop Walter Hawkins & the Love Center Ministries 37th Church Anniversary. I did this as a personal tribute to my Pastor and my church family as a "Gift of Love", and also to celebrate God's goodness to us as a ministry.
To my Love Center Church Family, if you don't see your name or face in this clip, please don't take it personally or become offended since this wont be the only time I will be doing special presentation projects in this manner. There is more to come and many of you will be featured in more clips that are coming soon so ...Stay Tuned!!!
I dedicate this clip in the memory of all those Love Center Church & Choir Members who have Gone on to Glory . Its too many names to type out on here, but to their family members who will view this clip, I will do a special clip in remembrance of them and their contributions to Love Center in the years we had them as our fellow members.

The songs Selected for this clip come from the 1st "Love Alive" LP and they are "I Love the Lord" and the lead vocalist are Walter Hawkins & Francis Pye. The ending song is "Changed" (Reprise) and the Lead Vocalist is Lady Tramaine Hawkins...
This man's ministry was truly the real deal. He walked, talked and sang about his relationship with GOD. And touched countless people with love. Thanks for the leadership. till we meet again... Darren
I heard Walter Hawkins passed away and wanted to to express my deepest sympathy! What a great legacy he left us! R.I.P. Walter we love you!
What a marvelous thing God did in Bishop Walter L. Hawkins. God stirred up the gifts in our pastor. I am thankful to God for loaning him to us for the time. My pray today as we give honor to whom honor is due on his birthday, that we move forward and remember what we've been taught. Put into action the messages he shared of Christ's love. Lord, Give Us Time.
This song still gets major play on my iPhone... Bishop Hawkins and Love Center put out some of the best music! Good post!!
My God! My God!! Where have song like this gone to. We need more songs of deliverance, salvation, peace, grace and hope.

Gospel Music is a force to be reconned with. I remember Gospel way before this time. It was changing after Edwin Hawkins, Oh Happy Day and Andre Crouch had some success with cross over.
There will never be another Walter Hawkins and his special Love Center Choir and they will never be the same without him Even Oakland itself is a better place

These are two of my best remembered songs: "I Love the Lord" and "Changed". I am praying for Love Center and for Jamie that God will keep them both in a special, loving way. I was at Love Center recently, and how God blessed us. Bishop Hawkins allowed God to establish a very firm foundation there, it seems. What a time!

Thank you soulbrother....this is really the best of all tributes. It felt so good traveling down this spiritual memory lane. I'm 60 years old and I certainly thank God for allowing me to live and experience pretty much "all" of these excerpts you have put together and shared with us. Over the past decades, not once did I underestimate what God conveyed through the talent of the Hawkins family. I am one female who can not sing a note , but I sing like crazy listening to any of the Hawkins.

Thanks so much for sharing this!!!...brought back so many good memories of growing up in church during the 70's in Detroit...This amazing body of believers gave the world an awesome legacy of inspirational and encouraging gospel music!!!...then and still ...today!!

Mannnn......music is powerful but when you add the anointing it makes a difference between a performance and ministry. When I hear any of the Hawkins music, I think of a church service recording. I can appreciate the old and the new music of thier ministry. I think if I ever attended a sevice at Love Center I'm not sure how I'd response not to mention my spirit. I hope Bishop Hawkins can get Love Alive started. Many of us who know anointed music are desperate for songs that have meaning.

Can anyone provide any description of the fantastic instrumentalists (pianists, organists, bass guitarists, and so on) who accompanied the singers over the years?
Incredible singers usually are accompanied by masterful instrumentalists, as is the case with Hawkins Family musicians. Thank you.

@esjerty Love Center has always been Non-Denominational, but most of us come from the COGIC, Baptist, Methodist, and various other denominations. However the church still carries forth a heavy Pentecostal vibe in every worship service....

Also the info you are looking for would be either on the original LP covers of the Love Alive projects and you can find the names on the back cover or an inside sleeve where the LP would have been held. Some of Bishop Hawkins' musicians changed over the years during this series run, so that is the best way to find out who they were....
Superb compilation of photos and your crystal clear sound recording make for an enjoyable walk down memory lane with my favorite Gospel family - the Hawkins. soulbrother 34, you have done an excellent job. God bless you for taking the time to compose this genuine treat. One question...who is playing the piano on "I Love the Lord"? The intro is very elegant.

The Last Song is Changed (Reprise), the way you can find it on here is type in Tramaine Hawkins' name or try the Love Center Choir in the search box above and it should come up. Its been up on this site for a while, and unless the person who posted it removed it, it should still be posted...

The whole song is still this site under my id name and the person who first posted it sometime before me, so you should have no problem finding "Changed" now...

@jermainehaywood...There is no original footage of the Love Center choir singing the songs you asked about available, but if you look under Tramaine Hawkins name on this site, you will see her do a few clips of those songs live in concerts appearances she did some years ago. Just type her name in the search box above and you shouldn't have too much trouble finding them, and if you have some problems, just get back to me and I will help you find them....
