EliteBook always been overlooked by ThinkPad/Latitude, really. But 8460p/8470p is still solid machine even in 2020. Has better design than 'MacBook-inspired' 840G1 onwards
The EliteBooks were the last generation of laptops/workstations that got me excited. The ports, the upgradabulity, the build quality. This is a beautiful machine. And I personally use an 8560p with an Intel i7-2620M, 4GB RAM, 320GB hard drive and intel hd graphics 3000
I actually bought this laptop as a mystery laptop at first i thought i got scammed but if you can get past the crap display it is a really good laptop and the display is not too bad.
Who here ordered a used HP elitebook and are waiting for it to be delivered while being impatient and watching many reviews of these HP's whilst promptly becoming more impatient, I know that's me but who else???
Im actually trying to order one right now! And Im also watching like thousand of different videos about it. I wonder what do you think about it? Is it any good and would you recomnend it?
@@someboringperson9359 I'd highly recommend it, but not for playing games, it's the ideal laptop for everyday use, more heavy but you don't need to worry about it getting bent like MacBooks, it comes with 4 or 8 gb of ram but it ddr4 and you have two slots so you can run 16gm of ram, for the screen on the other hand, I would expect 4k for it only has 1080p but most people are used to that. Overall: it's a 9/10, great for work/study/school or really anything that doesn't involve gaming. I'd recommend it. Note: you can play light games on it, Like Fallout 3, GTA San Andreas, Saints Row 2. But can't expect it to play GTA 5 or Fallout 76 xD It's also have a removable CPU, or at least mine does. Edit, Maintenance is easy
@@Redfur2002 I know that it isnt great for games and Im not buying it for that. I just want to use it for basic stuff and programming. Good to hear that your are happy with it. Btw I was very sceptical because I wanted to buy Macbook Pro 13 2011 model but it doesnt have the upgradebility as this laptop. And this laptop alao comes with bit better and bigger screen.

Just finished Software engineering college with this bad boy! The only thing I did is upgraded RAM to 8gb and got SSD. Visual Studio, Docker, NPM, ASP.NET Core, etc. all run amazing and honestly makes me wonder if upgrading to a newer laptop would even be worth it at all for somebody who doesn't play video games.
I have this laptop with i5 2520m CPU, Intel HD 3000 GPU, 120GB SSD, much much better screen than in this video. I bought external Seagate 2TB HDD, maxed RAM to 16GB. This is amazing laptop - never lags, can run many games smoothly, is very easy to clean up. It even can play 4K videos with very little stuttering.
Great video! I actually bought one as a gift to my brother, whose HP Compaq 6910p had become outdated. The one I purchased actually features a web cam along with the Thinklight knockoff. I installed Windows 7 on the computer and I can safely say it is one of the if not the best Windows 7 machine I've ever used. HP even has Windows XP drivers for those diehard retrogamers. Of course the one I purchased has a TN-panel, but I found all right. The keyboard is decent, definitely better than the one found on the newer HP ProBook 645 G1 (an AMD based laptop, one of the daily driver laptops I use), the glass trackpad is surprisingly good and the Trackpoint is OK. I bought mine for 120€ (approx. 135.67 USD/184.15 CAD/194.93 AUD/107.66 GBP). The only things that need replacing are the main battery and the CMOS clock battery. Specs: i5-2520m, 4GB of RAM, 120GB SSD, integrated Intel HD graphics. I might upgrade the RAM to 8GBs and install a larger SSD in the future.
@@LaptopRetrospective I also miss an HDMI input, it has an input on the right side that looks like an HDMI but it’s not and I don’t even know what it’s for
@@leandroterra4320 The port that looks like a HDMI port but isn't on the HP Elitebook 8460p , is he displayport port, which can connect to an HDMI. In some ways it is a hdmi cable. It's like that thing on the Original 2000 Xbox , where you plug in a controller through this detactable cable in case you trip through the cable, it doesn't bring the machine through it. The engineers were probably using that idea when coming up with the displayport idea.
tap the upper left corner on the trackpad to disable it. and that should allow the trackpoint to be used. The reason it disables the track pad is to prevent you from accientally swiping it while you operate the track point. It also enables the buttons atop the pad to be used as left and right click

Go for it if you're okay with the screen. Check to see if it has a web camera if that matters to you since some don't have it. Swap in an SSD and have some coin on the side for a new battery.

Thank you for the brilliant presentation! I use one of these myself for many years now, still fully content. In this presentation I found even some details that were new to me :-) I run Linux Mint on it, and it does just everything I need. Only, Solidworks on Windows is what I not recommend.
Haven't watched it yet, I'll watch it later at home. But until then, lemme tell you my experience with this. My friend left a 8460p with a dead gpu at my house. He told me that I can have it. So... I put an 8470p Mainboard in it (keep in mind the different lvds, and express card board). It works now flawlessly, with a 1600x900 TN panel (terrible colors, but the resolution is nice). The keyboard is nice and tactile, rock hard bottoming out, much like scissor switches. The trackpad, tho a bit irresponsive, it's glass, and the buttons are awesome. I miss the scroll button from the track point. Speaking of it, the trackpoint works just as well as Lenovo's. The chassis feels ridged, nice and metallic, but doesn't withstand drops as well as Lenovos. Overall quality is comparable to Alu Powerboks. The i5 3320M stays cool, even with 100% cpu and Intel igp usage. I am very satisfied with this piece of my collection. Recommended!
Man, I’m planning to get this used with the same i5 and a Radeon GPU for as cheap as 80-90 euros to take it to work and stream my main PC in case if won’t run any games I want it to run. Now my work is not going to be boring anymore.
@@LaptopRetrospective The build quality was awesome! It was a very compact laptop, even to this day. I used to carry it inside my large lunchbox because of it's 11 inch compact body!
Have had mine for a while and since upgraded the cpu to an I7 2760QM, memory to 16gb, swapped to an SSD, and 1 TB hard drive. I use it strictly for work and it still has alot of life in it. I agree though.... biggest downfall is the display.
@@camiemengineer because I own 6 + probook 6460b non-working and owned a few HP Elitebook 8460p in the past and was able to successfully put a 8460p motherboard inside a 6460b back when someone was selling a HP 8460P motherboard for cheap on ebay so using common sense I was able to determine that the LCD ports not only look the same, but are probably cross compatible although I only did them one way, i find it hard to believe that the engineers back in 2011 would make the parts work one way even if it was for money during a time when at war with thinkpad and the dell latitude

i had worken on autocad too it was suprysinlly good at it😅 with the heat i was actually not interesten unless i would play something the i would just place batterry on bottom of it and it actually helped but it wasnt comfy.then i got dock station and used it instead of batterry for cooling
This is a interesting laptop but it is a beast.a few things. 1. It is verry, very heavy and the power brick is literally a brick. 2. The laptop may not work with an aftermarket charger or battery. 3. Due to issue 2, proper batteries are, in my experience, harder to find. 4. HP made a "secondary battery" but it is a separate, attachable unit that adds about 2 more pounds to an already very heavy laptop.
Yeah, it isn't light. The aftermarket battery here didn't have any issues. The secondary batteries are those slice ones I mentioned, I imagine that they would add a lot of weight. 2011 battery technology is not what it is now.
From what I've seen, HP's EliteBooks and ZBooks have always been overshadowed by Dell's and (most importantly) Lenovo's ThinkPads, for some reasons - despite their business models being pretty competitive in their respective segment. I've tested and owned ZBooks myself, and to me they really are not any worse than a competing ThinkPad - perhaps even better, for reasons that would probably take too long to explain here. It probably doesn't help either that these days, HP's consumer laptops have a pretty bad reputation online (and deservedly so, as a HP-kinda person) for their build quality and hinge issues. But long as that translates to cheaper price for their used business/workstation laptops compared to ThinkPads, it's still a win either way for the buyer I suppose.
Displays are so important, not a place you want to cut corners. But cutting corners on a laptop is tricky business. Not sure if we've come close to a "perfect" laptop free of one compromise or another, at any price point.
2:07 uhh.. no? they didn't have any indicators on any MacBook Pro except for the battery, which was either on the bottom of the laptop on older models and required a button press or on the side of the unibody models and again, required a button press.
Very similar? No, probably not right to say that as you point out. But the design and placement immediately reminded me of it and consider the years both machines came out, I figured it was more than just chance. i.stack.imgur.com/fzWwr.jpg
Interesting to hear that you had as much luck as I did with the "TrackPoint"/PointStick. I'll be interested to see if I get the chance to look at any newer EliteBooks what they are like.
Two things- 1. I lost the rubber feet for this laptop and I can't find them. 2. No matter what I did, I couldn't use the fingerprint sensor. Have no idea. I have now switched to Ubuntu and have little to no hope that the sensor will work on it but then again, it never did. The laptop is very good, changed the HDD to SSD though. Rest is, to say the least, just amazing! Its been 5 years(maybe 6).
My experience with fingerprint sensors is some rely on very specific drivers and conditions. I usually fight the longest with them to get working again.
@@LaptopRetrospective I did download drivers and still couldn't get them working. That boat has sailed now. For now, I am looking for rubber feet. I saw it on Amazon but it was out of stock. Can you point me to online shops where I can find them? I am in India.
I was wondering since you also did mention the various cpus this laptop can come with. I did manage to disassemble and reassemble the laptop completely two times and the cpu on mine actually has 2 huge but removable screws that hold it in place. I was wondering whether or not these cpus are actually interchangeable or each uses a different socket? Which would potentially make this laptop even more upgradeable than it already is compared to 80% of newer laptops. Haven't been able to confirm nor deny this sadly so I wanted to hear your thoughts on this maybe.
You can indeed and here is a support article with the complete list: h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Hp-8460p-CPU-upgrade/td-p/6980226
I have a Probook 6470b and an Elitebook 8460p,both were bought used. I always use them on a desk.I connect an external monitor and external speakers.Internal speakers are terrible.
I have 2 monitors (1 with VGA and 1 with HDMI), I attached a VGA monitor with 8460p and it worked fine, for the most part, then I bought another HDMI monitor, I got DisplayPort to HDMI converter and used that to connect to 8460p, I was of the view that both monitors (VGA and displayport2hdmi) should work (so that I have extended display on 3 screens). but it shows the display on only one monitor(+internel screen), either the VGA monitor or HDMI; I believe there is some settings of the sort that allows only one of the VGA or display port will work at once ... is there any workaround as I want to use both monitors with my laptop.... I read the documentation that it said up to 4 monitors can be connected 8460p at one time but I am not able to.... I tried a lot of drivers as well but no luck, ......when I go to Advanced display settings that show Display 3: Wired Display connected to Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000, it shows Display 3 isn't active ...... I want to use the extended display on 3 screens
Maybe the support for 4 monitors depends on which graphics chip is installed. Some came with Radeon, some the Intel HD. Or you might need the docking station to make it work with more monitors. You could use a USB 3 Graphics Adapter, like Display Link, to add more outputs.
I was lucky to be given one of these ex-corporate. I got the trackpoint working using the Windows 7 drivers. But it could have equally just been working 🤣 Where you might have a faulty one.
I bought 8470p for my gf, because its have decent i7 and she using for document and photoshop/illustrator work, work quite well since have 12GB ram inside. snappy, except the screen is...passable~ and the speaker is really bad.
Nice review. I didn't know that the security screw was hiding beneath the bottom panel. It's common that some models (SKU's) didn't have a webcam by default. ThinkPads are the same way. The screen seems to have been replaced because the screw covers are missing. The touchpad disable function should have been a hotkey IMO. You can accidentally disable your touchpad sometimes. I hate the small size of the power button on these EliteBooks. It hasn't changed even on the newer EliteBooks. If you want to dis-assemble the laptop further than what you showed, then you will need Torx screw bits. HP is famous for doing this. I like that HP gave you USB 3.0 on the 8460p. I wish Lenovo did that on the T420.
It was a pretty nice laptop while it worked, but the AMD gpu died after 8 years of daily use, which is a typical issue for 2011 AMD gpu laptops. Tried reflowing it but no dice. Not worth repairing it I guess. The Card reader and repairabilty of it was very nice, don't see that nowadays.

I started using Elitebooks in 2009 when I bought 2 very nice 2730p tablets and 11 years later I'm typing this comment on an Elitebook x360 1030 convertible. The 8460p was the only model of the line I absolutely HATED. I bought it without seeing it beforehand because it was one of the very few laptops which then offered a 1600x900 screen. When I opened the box, what a ghastly surprise: this 8460p looked just like a fake Macbook. I would never have walked around with a counterfeit scarf or handbag and I was to go to meetings with this diddle. And a very poor quality one at that. The 1600x900 screen also turned out to be extremely disappointing (display being my no 1 criteria) . Not bright enough, badly calibrated. The worst part was the keyboard, HP's fist chicklet model borrowed from Apple. The worst keyboard I ever used and a big setback from the 2730p's slightly curved, accurate and pleasant keys. From then on, I had to halve my typing speed or the characters would jam like on an old typewriter and come up all scrambled. A permanent ordeal. On a very stormy night in France, my 8460p blew up while being charged. I did regret the financial loss, but certainly not this dud. Being in a rush, I went for an Elitebook again: this time a briefly pre-tested 850 G1 which still gives good service in the family today. Like some 840 G1, G2, G3 and even an 810 Revolve which is built like a tank and great for traveling on the rough. But you can all write off the 8460p.
can we attach Peltier Module with its CPU? to handle the overheating issue? as per the documentation, there are 2 types of displays HD and HD+, how to know which one is on my system? ... as per speccy one of my 4Gb rams is 800Mhz and the other is 667Mhz... what does that mean in comparison to 1333 of ddr3...
No idea about this Meltier Module, sorry. As for the displays, the only way to know would be to get a SN and reverse look-up a build sheet or have the device in front of you and boot it into an OS and check. It sounds like your RAM modules are mismatched which isn't ideal. The short answer is, the more Mhz, the more often the RAM can access its memory.
Do you know if the firewire port works straight off the bat? I mean does it or not need a driver? I've been to the HP site and there's no apparent dirver listed. I want to use the port for my Old Sony camcorder, dv-tapes. If needed any ideas where to get the driver from? PS: There's nothing listed on Device Manager, either.
@@LaptopRetrospective Yes, but there is small problem: The firewire cable I have is small format, (camcorder), to large format, (computer), -- similar to USB's -- but I will need small to small, which I don't have but will have to buy .. so I was trying to see if it was worth doing that! Mind you , if the firewire port works without a driver that would be another important plus for this superb laptop.
Had an elitebook from the generation after this, the 9470m. Surprisingly thin even by today's standards. But holy hell it did not play nice with windows 10. She was kinda just a problem child in general. Got rid of it when the SSD died (the computer itself threw a motherboard failure code but that was false) and got a t450s
@@LaptopRetrospective well first off other brands have enough drivers for windows 10 lmao. Idk about the elitebook in this video but for mine they had all the drivers for 7 and 8 (and oddly xp too?) They didn't have the same for 10. It was short a couple of drivers. So for example to get better audio out of it I had to use audio drivers for Windows 8 because those drivers weren't in 10. If I didn't do that then audio out of the speakers would be very quiet. And then certain other drivers wouldn't work well for whatever reason.
True enough on the drivers. It's just interesting that this isn't something that is better covered by HP, seems like an oversight that others don't allow to happen.
As far as I know, the HP 90W Dock Station A7E32AA#ABA is the only one that is meant for this laptop. Could be wrong on that since I don't know the HP machines as well.

Video editing might be a stretch depending on the complexity of the project, the program's system requirements and the resolution of the footage. I also wouldn't take Windows 7 online these days.
It's either run a modern operating system or don't go online with it. Windows 7 isn't being updated anymore so you run the risk of being victim to exploits.

That will probably depend more on the complexity of the projects you're doing on it. I'd anticipate it will handle simple renders well enough but struggle with more complex ones.
Someone with this laptop, please get in touch. My built-in display has stopped functioning, so I may need to blindly navigate the BIOS to enable the external display. It would be a huge help if I could get some guidance on the exact keypresses needed to accomplish that.

@@LaptopRetrospective sure, anytime that I update the display driver, the pc reboots and then start flickering and reboot in a loop If i not update, it does not happend
If things are looking stretched then that would have to do with whatever your display resolution is set as, generally speaking. Strange that Windows is pushing a driver that won't install.
That's going to be personal preference. The 8460 has an older CPU and integrated GPU, 2nd gen, but has a larger screen. The X230 is 3rd gen, depending on the specific model and has a much smaller screen and form factor.

Lots to like, no doubt about it.

I think that's a pretty common thing to do. 🤣
But can't expect it to play GTA 5 or Fallout 76 xD
It's also have a removable CPU, or at least mine does.
Edit, Maintenance is easy

I have this laptop with i5 2520m CPU, Intel HD 3000 GPU, 120GB SSD, much much better screen than in this video. I bought external Seagate 2TB HDD, maxed RAM to 16GB.

Yes, an SSD is a must.

You can have two SSDs if you really want. One in the optical bay and one where the HDD would go.

You can stream applications now on virtual machines with dedicated hardware by virtually connecting to them, and remoting controlling them.
Yes, HP also jumped on the train of really shitty displays. Same as Lenovo did and still does. Shame on them !
Displays are so important, not a place you want to cut corners. But cutting corners on a laptop is tricky business. Not sure if we've come close to a "perfect" laptop free of one compromise or another, at any price point.
You can modify the Screen using replacement parts I think?
2:07 uhh.. no? they didn't have any indicators on any MacBook Pro except for the battery, which was either on the bottom of the laptop on older models and required a button press or on the side of the unibody models and again, required a button press.

Fingerprint scanner and the trackpoint work for me on my 8570p in win10
I have an older elitebook, a 6930p, and the trackpoint works out of the box on Win 10. Although shutting down does not :P
One step forward...
Two things-
Can you point me to online shops where I can find them?

eBay would be what I'd try.
Hmmm, it might depend how the motherboard has been setup vs what the integrated GPU is capable of doing.
Maybe the support for 4 monitors depends on which graphics chip is installed. Some came with Radeon, some the Intel HD. Or you might need the docking station to make it work with more monitors. You could use a USB 3 Graphics Adapter, like Display Link, to add more outputs.
I still have mine working fine till now
What happened?
I was lucky to be given one of these ex-corporate. I got the trackpoint working using the Windows 7 drivers. But it could have equally just been working 🤣 Where you might have a faulty one.

Yep, I did miss it.
Yes, lots of torx on the inside which seems kind of pointless once you've got all the important bits out with a common Phillips.

Yikes, it blew up? That's crazy. Glad to hear you found something better for your use. The Revolve is a nice unit.
So do you think buying one today with 8 ram an 120ssd, win 10 pro for $150? It is. A good deal?

Give it a try without a driver. I'm trying to think if I've ever used FireWire.
Strange that these machines struggle so much with Windows 10, what did other brands do differently that gives better compatibility?

If i try use the wasd keys while moving the touchpad it doesnt work please help
My guess is the trackpad is shutting off while the keyboard is in use to avoid errors. It isn't made for gaming.
Can you replace the screen with something else?
I haven't been able to find a lot of information of that variety for these machines. They don't seem to have the same following as other machines.
Hello,
I just bought the same HP EliteBook 8460p and still checking all its functionalities.
I notice a very dim light emitted near the camera but nothing pop out.
When I pressed on the squarish plastic, the light was off and
I am not sure how to let the "bulb" pop out to emit the light.
Hopefully, I did not damage it while I pressed it.
Please assist me with this. Appreciate your advice. Thank you.
Lance Low
If it isn't popping out when pressed you might need to take it apart to see if something is stuck or damaged. If the light is on, it should be out.
@@LaptopRetrospective Thanks for your kind response :)
Sorry for the late reply.
I was troubleshooting IE to have the latest version on Windows 10 for HP 8460p,
for some strange reason after installation of BitDefender (BD);
it keeps prompting for the latest IE browser to activate the new BD account,
I managed to get it resolved :D.
May I confirm with you... where do I need to press exactly to have that "bulb" pop out?
I tried pressing around "lightly" near the camera but nothing pop out...
I'm trying to remember exactly but I want to say it was a pictogram with a lightbulb.
@@LaptopRetrospective I saw the lightbulb pictogram in between
an ambient sensor(?) and a squarish black plastic where the very faint light should be emitted.
When I pressed the lightbulb lightly (I was afraid of damaging the sensor),
nothing pops out but when I tried to lift up the black squarish plastic lid a little,
the faint light emitted :)
Certain UA-cam clip did demonstrate the "brightness" of the light but
I have to agree it seems very dim to be useful,
maybe my lid did not pop out in full... :)
The top frame of the screen looks like this at the center:
The camera (far left) - Ambient sensor? - lightbulb pictogram - black squarish plastic where light emitted.
Once again thanks for your kind attention and replies on the matter. Greatly appreciate. :)
The lightbulb pictogram needs a little bit more than a light press but certainly not hard if it's working correctly. You're right, it isn't very bright.
You're most welcome by the way. Happy to help in any way that I can.
I’m trying to upgrade my 8470p from an i5 to an i7. Any recommendations?
You might find this information helpful.

hello i have the same laptop but when i try to use windows 10 cpu is at 100% (already cleaned vents and fan )
Did you make sure it finished all the system updates? How much RAM and are you using an SSD?
i am using 8gb and yes i intalled all updates@@LaptopRetrospective
Should i purchase this machine
What do you want to do with it?
@@LaptopRetrospective for student purposes
What are you studying and what is the most demanding program you expect it to run?
I use this still now🙂
Nice!
I have the newer 8470p model. The only con i have is the battery life. I only get 3h with a new battery.
2011 battery tech isn't all it's cracked up to be.
I have the same model, and I can also just get about 3 hours with it. I have the long life 6 cell 55W battery. Altho it has degraded a bit. Only about 84% charge capacity now
I have this laptop, and I plan to upgrade the CPU. Will i7-2860qm work with it? How about the RAM to 16GB (Samsung 2x8GB) DDR3-12800S? Will appreciate your help.
16 GB of RAM PC3-10600 DDR3 is supported. Not sure about the type you listed. For a full list of supported CPUs, see this article. h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Hp-8460p-CPU-upgrade/m-p/6980363#M495589
I just get one from eBay for 16 usd plus 20 for shipping,
Nice price. 👍
I want to see if I can change the shortcut buttons functions. Any recommendations?
It has been a long time since I've looked at this one, sadly a lot of these keys are difficult to reprogram.
Nice vídeo man, happy to see finally a elitebook
Are you thinking in reviewing more models? I would love to see a review of you about the 2570p
I'll review whatever I can source. 👍
I need a battery for 8470p where can I get it along with the secondary battery
Depending on where you are located I'd try eBay, Amazon or BattDepot.
Would you pick this over say a t430thinkpad for school and work?
Depending on price and configuration. The T430 is a bit of an easier package to handle and I'd lean that way. Better ThinkLight, Trackpoint and a few other things.
Can I use it for Zoom, Word and Chrome at the same time?
If you get one with a camera.
Oooh. Nice nice
I still have it.
Nice, do you use it for much still?
Hi Sir,
I have HP Elitebook 8460p laptop .
Which Type of SSD and Caddy support to my laptop.
Please suggest... ?
If I remember right, it's a 2.5" bay in the video.
Caddy Size 9.5mm or 12.7mm for HP elitebook 8460p ?
Those are for the optical bay. Is that what you want? To replace the optical bay?
I want to add 256gb SSD in DVD drive
Google says 12.7mm
Can i extend graphics card...?
Might be able to do an eGPU via the Express Card slot.
I have this exact laptop and I'm not too tech savvy but was able to upgrade the SSD and RAM but if I wanted to play modern games is there a section I could replace the graphics card?
Nope, graphics card is integrated. But it does have an express card slot so you could rig up an eGPU.
@@LaptopRetrospective is there a tutorial you have for that?
I have two videos so far on me doing it on my X220.
ua-cam.com/video/7UzdMgc9MUI/v-deo.html

It should give you the basic idea of what is involved. I haven't gotten around to the third episode quite yet. egpu.io is a great resource and people have already posted information on using an Elitebook of this era.
Why is the vent on the right hand side instead of the left?
Just how they built it.

PS:Still lacking English grammar two years later xd.
Thanks for giving us an update, that's awesome! Much appreciated.
Is it possible to increase the memory or GPU power using the express card slot?
An eGPU setup is possible via the Express Card. I have some videos doing it on a ThinkPad.

Is the EGPU compatible with HP ELITEBOOK 8460P ?
Yep, should be. I'd do some reading on egpu.io
My laptop blowup, but i enjoyed it while it lasted
How long did it last?

Hp elitebook 3rd gen is it good for me as student with win7 core i5 4gbram 120ssd is it good for video editing?
Video editing might be a stretch depending on the complexity of the project, the program's system requirements and the resolution of the footage. I also wouldn't take Windows 7 online these days.
Ok thanks, but if i downgrade to windo10 is it good to run smoothly?
It's either run a modern operating system or don't go online with it. Windows 7 isn't being updated anymore so you run the risk of being victim to exploits.
I am still using this laptop LOL
How is it doing?
My hp elite book 8460p has very limited bios so means I have to put all graphics to 0
I got this thing for 120 euros it's the i5 2520m with Intel graphics version with 8gb ram and the 900p screen (I expected the screen to be worse but it's decent enough) I put a 750gb hdd I had laying around and installed windows 7 in the future I want to get a ssd and a bigger hdd and even upgrading the CPU inside, I realy l love the looks of it and the fingerprint scanner (wish more laptops had it) I wish it was fhe amd ver but from what I read the amd card inside has similar performance to the Intel hd ver and it would get even hotter, also I love how easy is to open this thing, it will be a breeze to clean up when it gets filed with dust
Pretty sure the CPU isn't socketed? Can't remember.
@@LaptopRetrospective it is and you could install a i7 2820QM on it iirc, tbh its one of the only laptops where I saw you can do this to go from a i5 to a i7 procesor, if I put a ssd in it and 16gb ram I think it will be the perfect workhorse machine
Nice!
900p sounds way worse than 720p in my head, for some reason.
After 1y, I got a new i7 2720qm cpu for it, upgraded to 16gb got a 256gb crucial mx 500 ssd and took out the dvd writer and put a 1tbh hdd în it's place with an adapter, this thing is still a beast and I love it
You forgot something it has smart card reader. But i don't know how to use
Yep, I did miss that. If you don't work for a company that uses them, there is not much use for them.
i have the same i5 core laptop can i run adobe premier pro 2019 on my laptop pls tell me
That will probably depend more on the complexity of the projects you're doing on it. I'd anticipate it will handle simple renders well enough but struggle with more complex ones.
It can run PES or Fifa game?
This is a business grade machine with an integrated GPU. Check your system requirements against any version of this you'd buy.
Someone with this laptop, please get in touch. My built-in display has stopped functioning, so I may need to blindly navigate the BIOS to enable the external display. It would be a huge help if I could get some guidance on the exact keypresses needed to accomplish that.
It doesn't work automatically? I'm not sure all BIOS has this option.
@Life in Spain I'm curious about this as well. I no longer have this unit around or I'd test it out.
hey, i need help. When I upgrade my display drivers, the pc get into a loop of rebooting and not working anymore, pls help me
Hmmm. It's hard to imagine a display driver would be the cause of this symptom. It sounds like something else isn't working as intended. Any more details you can provide?
@@LaptopRetrospective sure, anytime that I update the display driver, the pc reboots and then start flickering and reboot in a loop
If i not update, it does not happend
Hmmm. What configuration do you have and what driver pack is being applied? Windows update or something you found? Is the driver update needed?
@@LaptopRetrospective windows 10 pro 64 bit, 8 gb ram
yeah, just the windows update i being used
the upgrade is not necessary, but it looks stretched
If things are looking stretched then that would have to do with whatever your display resolution is set as, generally speaking. Strange that Windows is pushing a driver that won't install.
instead of HDD, can i add SSD? and can i run GTA-5 vice city game without lacking?
You can add an SSD. As for Vice City, it's an older game but I don't remember the system requirements. What are they?
lenovo thinkpad x230 or hp 8460p, which one will be better? plzzz inform me
That's going to be personal preference. The 8460 has an older CPU and integrated GPU, 2nd gen, but has a larger screen. The X230 is 3rd gen, depending on the specific model and has a much smaller screen and form factor.
Is it good for office use?
Yep.
Yep, those would make a huge difference.
Yep. Sounds right.
Is anyone here help me, no camera attached. camera not detected. same Laptop model
Some of these simply don't have a webcam.
Can i buy this now... 😩😩
They can still be found used.
