Seriously, Mamma Mai reminds me sooooo much of my mom. My mom's a Pakistani immigrant and i'm first-generation and my mom says the exact same things! My mom's golden line is in Urdu and it basically translates to, "Beauty fades; dumb is forever. So obviously, don't be dumb." And when she tells me she's proud of me, i'm always surprised and she goes, "yeah i don't tell you i'm proud of you 24/7 bc then you're gonna get all high and mighty. And you're working in the field of experimental physics; i'm not a physicist. I don't know what i'm talking about. Me being proud of you is not the same as your advisor being happy with the results you provide. Besides, you make mistakes all the time so stop doing dumb things." When people also tell my mom that they think she's raised a beautiful daughter, my mom corrects them and says, "I've raised a hard working daughter. and she can afford to work harder. all of us can." So i get you Jeannie! And oh my god, do i get Mamma Mai. I sent this video to my mom and she was like, "yah i agree with everything; Mamma Mai knows what she's talking about."
