- The second of three endings from the 1985 movie Clue directed by Jonathan Lynn. In this alternate ending Miss Peacock is the killer. Eileen Brennan plays this avian senator's wife. Tim Curry and co. start singing "For She's a Jolly Good Fellow" around the 2:00 minute mark. God what an ugly hat.

I think that of all the killers revealed Mrs Peacock had the best character transformation. The actress did an amazing job here!
Morgan Farrell not to mention of the three endings this is the only one that fits the facts. Ending number three makes zero sense because in that version Mrs. White is the one who killed Yvette. How could she? She was screaming in the upstairs bedroom while Yvette was coming down the stairs to enter the billiard room where the murderer was already waiting for her. And in the first ending it makes no sense that Miss Scarlet killed Yvette because Yvette was surprised by the identity of the killer, The killer that according to Wadsworth she was on her way to rendezvous with. In my opinion this is the true ending, Mrs. Peacock killed Mr. body in the hall with The candle stick.

Even though the other endings are very good, this one makes the most sense, If someone tries to debunk that lemme tell you. There is no passage in the bedroom to the billiards room(as far as we know.)
If you watch the billiard room scene with the maid Mrs Peacock is absent. This is when she's stabbing the cook.
I disagree about the first ending, when was it stated that Yvette was on her way to rendezvous with Miss scarlet? That ending actually made a lot of sense to me, including how the killers knew about the secret passages.
That said, I agree with you completely about the third ending (which I hated), and I’ll thumbs up your comment for that alone.

This is my favourite ending - it adds so much more depth to Mrs Peacock's character. Eileen Brennan's acting was great - she became so much more sinister/ conniving when she was found out!
Yeah, it's always fun to see a formerly goofy or likable character drop the act and show their true sinister nature, especially with a good actor playing it.

She improvised a lot in the movie. In addition to the fills in the song, she improvised the “..flames....FLAMES on the side of my face” speech when Mrs. White admitted to knowing Yvette the maid.

Regardless of what ending you prefer, I do quite like how there's a few common themes around them.
1: Mr. Greene is always innocent.
2: Yvette was killed by a lady.
3: Communism was a red herring.
I also like how "and monkey brains though popular in Cantonise cuisine is not commonly found in Washington DC" was referenced again in the final ending.

No one ever hardly notices, but if you look closely at Tim in scenes with Brennan he is always somewhat close to corpsing. He gets by though cause of how awesome of an actor he is. Eileen also always have been another favorite of mine as well. So underrated and very funny onscreen and in real life.
Stephanie McCoy Eileen is very close to corpsing as well, I think that’s why there’s a cut to Plum half way through. Also loving Wadsworth not trusting Peacock not to shoot him in the back, the sideways eyes are a touch of class.

Clue is one of the best old films. Abuse it’s really smart, they made the movie and a way that there can be multiple endings
It's a silly thing to wonder, I know, but I can't help but wonder if they ever maintained contact with each other after this. Like Ms White and Miss Scarlet meeting for coffee or Professor Plum and Wadsworth going for drinks.
I always wondered what happened after this ending. Did they all go back inside for fruit / desert and be able to relax and just go over the crazy night they just had.

If you pay attention to the kitchen scenes, you’ll see the “dessert” Wadsworth mentioned was chocolate cake.
God there are so many layers to the jokes! I've been watching clue for 15 years and I still find new jokes with each watch!
I know with the introduction of ending three they say “here’s what really happened” But truthfully this is the only ending that fits the facts of the mystery. In ending three (spoiler alert) it’s Mrs. White who kills Yvette but that makes no sense because Mrs. White was screaming in the upstairs bedroom from the lights going out wile Yvette came down the stairs and entered billiard room.
Actually, I think ending one fits the facts best, including how the killers knew about the secret passages.
Having said that, I hated ending three and I’ll give you a thumbs up for being against that being the best ending.
Maybe ending C is the most popular cause people are too used to Tim Curry being the villain.

I saw this movie in middle school. This was the ending our class got. My classmate said she thought it was Mrs. Peacock.
The fact that Mrs. Peacock was supposed to be killed her is so evident.
-You don't see her after the Chief pulls the gun on her, (Eileen Brannon had to come back to record the "Get your hands off me I'm a senator's wife" Line)
-The Cops rushing the scene you can see it's a different ending all together, The Chief is facing the mansion in that scene.
-When the Chief holster's the gun he does it cowboy style.
-You can see the smoke from when he fired the gun while he holstered it.
-When he says somberly "we got her" he's implying he killed her.
-When Mr. Green utter's his infamous gender confusion line, he says "Was a man" not "Is a man"

"In Ending B, where it's revealed Mrs. Peacock murdered all six people, it was revealed that she was actually shot dead by the Chief of Police when he confronts her at her car. After saying they got Mrs. Peacock when Wadsworth and the other five guests run outside, the Chief then turns to Mrs. Peacock's dead body and shoots her again. This was deemed too dark, and Eileen Brennan recorded a new line saying she's the Senator's wife, so that Peacock is arrested instead of shot. However, part of the rejected sequence remains in the film. I wish they didn’t stop at just three endings, they could’ve done more separate endings were each character was the killer just to see how every character would turn out in a solo way.

This movie is such a great classic and my high school’s fall play is Clue this coming school year for me
My headcanon is that Peacock and Mustard were in cahoots over Senator Peacock's defense contracts, the new fusion bomb, and other war profiteering. Peacock attempted to (she stood closest to him in the lounge) and eventually killed Mr. Boddy and the Cook (both when she wasn't in the billiard room with the others), Mustard tried to grab the gun from Plum in the dark (they were sitting next to each other in the lounge) the motorist (knew he was a war profiteer), Yvette, and the cop (both involved in the sex ring). Take your pick as to who knocked out the power and/or killed the Singing Telegram Girl because it could have been either of them.
What a fucking great movie, absolute classic A++

That's the 3rd ending. I saw a VHS when I was at school that had all 3 of them on it- I love Tim Curry!
Did you see it in the movie theater? When it was first released, one ending was randomly selected to be played at each showing. The three endings was a gimmick to get people to see the show. The idea was that there were 3 endings and you never knew which one you were going to get. When it was released to VHS they included all the endings. When it airs on television, they may cut 2 endings for time and just go for the one where (SPOILER) all of them did it.
fundifferent1 When they aired Clue on Paramount Network today they showed all 3 endings with transitions in between each ending which was so cool!
With Mrs. Peacock being the killer, it does leave a few errors. How did Mrs. Peacock manage to separate from Professor Plum to kill the motorist? In addition, when she shuts off the power, she somehow manages to rush down to the cellar quick enough to act like she doesn't know what's going on and thinks someone is touching her from behind.
However, there is another clue Wadsworth never pointed out in knowing that Mrs. Peacock is the killer. When they accuse Mrs. Peacock in the kitchen for stabbing the cook since she was given the dagger and they ask where did she put it, she said she dropped it before she fainted or after she fainted and doesn't remember. But that's an error. Mrs. Peacock didn't faint when she had the dagger. She dropped it in shock from seeing Mr. Body supposedly dead. The only time in the movie she fainted was when she went to the bathroom and Mr. Body appeared. So if the second ending were canon, I think this was a clue that Mrs. Peacock accidentally revealed she was planning on fake fainting when having Mr. Body come out of the bathroom.
Unlike endings A and C which there was a flashback on the respective killings, there was no flashback at all showing any of the six murders committed by Mrs. Peacock.

@@ryanstauffer119 Likewise, there was a flashback of Miss Scarlett or Mrs. White strangling Yvette with the rope, but not Mrs. Peacock doing that. On the same token, you see Miss Scarlett hitting the cop with the lead pipe, but not Mrs. Peacock.
@@bluemountain555 We also didn't get a flashback of her or Professor Plum killing Mr. Boddy with the candlestick and only saw Yvette do it. Or Mr. Boddy's butler if you want to call him that for Professor Plum since that's who he really was in Ending C.
@@ryanstauffer119 I guess to complete the cycle - in ending A you see Miss Scarlett opening the door and shoot The Singing Telegram girl, but you don't see Mrs. Peacock or Wadsworth/Mr. Boddy do that in endings B and C. Ending A is good in that aside from killing the motorist, you see all the other flashbacks. Ending C is not as good in that you only see 3 flashbacks (Motorist, Yvette, Cop) while B is the worst with no flashbacks. So in terms of flashback scenes, ending A is definitely the best in that you see 5 of them followed by 3 in ending C and 0 in ending B.

The only problem I have with peacock's ending is that how did she kill the motorist, I don't think she knew any of the secret passages plus wasn't she in the cellar.
I agree! I mean Mrs. Peacock killing the cook is viable giving that she is not shown in the billiard room when they check on Yvette. But how would she have known about the secret passage? And when the lights went out she was shown in the cellar. It wouldn’t make sense for her to go up then go back down then up again and kills three people.

I don't know if this is said in the plays or somewhere else, but there's a given explanation that Mrs. Peacock knew the house before since she'd been invited with her husband to parties previously, therefore she could have found out about the passageways beforehand. Although I do agree it is kind of far fetched for her to be able to kill 3 people and then rush back to the cellar unheard.

3:18 Mrs.Peacock is supposed to die here, the camera cuts away very quickly as the Chief draws his gun, you never see Mrs.Peacock actually be taken away, and at 3:24 you can see smoke above his head from having shot his gun before he twirls it and puts it away again.

Jarek Harmening It reveals that Wadsworth did it all, because he just wanted everything in his life to be perfect. So he decided to commit the perfect murder, but left six witnesses. But Wadsworth reveals that the brandy they drank was actually poisoned, and the guests would die in a matter of hours. He goes through the house and rips out the phone lines. The evangelist then shows up and grabs Wadsworth, and demands an explanation. As he begins to explain, he dashes out and locks everyone in, and steals a police car and drives away, only to get supposedly mauled by one of the police dogs.

This is the most unlikely ending for me. Mrs Peacock doesn't seem like the type to get her hands dirty, she would hire a hitman or something

The one thing that doesn't make sense at this ending. Mrs. Peacock split up from Plum and he didn't notice?
This ending seems the least plausible to me. How did Mrs. Peacock know about the secret passageways? How could she shut off the electricity to commit the last three murders when we see her still in the cellar when the lights went out?
So did those dogs at the beginning of the movie just die off-screen? Because after Mr. Body tries to break the conservatory windows, they are never seen again.
Maybe they went to sleep?
I did read somewhere that a 4th ending was written, and either didn't get filmed or was cut during editing. In this version, Wadsworth is still guilty. He is not shot by Mr Green. He escapes from the house trapping the others inside with either a ticking bomb, or something equally lethal. The police do not come because (as previously stated), nobody has called them. Wadsworth gets in his car and smugly starts the engine. It is only then that Wadsworth (and the audience) become aware that both dogs are snarling menacingly on his backseat, ready to tear him to pieces. The End.
Wadsworth previously asked the fruit and dessert question earlier in the film prior to the murders.

In Endings 1 & 2, Miss Scarlet and Mrs. Peacock did Mrs. White a favor by killing Yvette.
Those slaps were personal they had enough of him.
There’s two things about this movie I still don’t get:
1) Why weren’t we able to any of Mrs. Peacock’s or Professor Plum’s killing? We saw everyone else kill their victims in the endings.
2) How - If they were both upstairs - did Ms. White or Wadsworth (Boddy) kill Yvette or the singing telegram girl?
The third ending is rather weird because of what you pointed out in the second part, Mrs. White couldn't have possibly ran down that quickly (Yvette would've seen her) and neither could Mr. Boddy because he would either run into Yvette or Mrs. White.
And how could Mrs. Peacock have killed Yvette, the cop, and the signing telegram when she was shown in the cellar. Why would she go upstairs to turn off the electricity then back downstairs then up again to kill three people. And how would she have known about the secret passages.
Maybe she went back to the cellar and hit that pipe to give herself an alibi, since professor plum would certainly have heard her. Remember, the electricity switch was right in the entrance to the cellar.
