Having seen the very first performance I can tell you it's fantastic, I laughed I cried and I wanted to back in time to watch it again. The special effects are out of this world. The acting is superb and performed by genuine of fans of the film franchise. I would highly recommend anyone to go and see this and I hope I get to see it again when it moves to London.
I haven't seen this musical yet + Manchester is too far to travel unless I was going there which I'm not, But from what I have seen from the adverts on TV + Social Media, Pictures of it in Magazines/Social Media /Buses/Trains etc -The set designs are very good as well which you forgot to mention!

I saw this at Adelphi and it’s amazing. I can’t imagine the two lead roles as anyone else. Roger Bart and olly Dobson brilliant as doc and Marty. Loved the songs. Being a big Christopher Lloyd fan I was blown away by roger Barts performance. It has an excellent cast, songs and special effects. It’s also kinda funny. I was not disappointed. I would see it again. I definitely recommend it. I hope they release a dvd and or cd
same! it was incredible and i hope they release it on cd/streaming services so i can rewatch that masterpiece!!

Is anyone else watching this and thinking “Roger BART had to AUDITION?!?!” Um, he’s Roger Bart! You know when you consider Roger Bart for a role that you’re getting brilliance if he agrees to the take the role. A chemistry read for the role, maybe… but wow… I guess even icons of the musical theatre world have to audition at times too…

If you are indifferent about the film, you will still really enjoy the musical. The technical aspects, the musical aspects, the choreography and everything is so polished. It's a fun experience.
Saw this show on the 21st and I can honestly say it's absolutely amazing!! I need a cast album ASAP!

Saw the show last night, and OMG!! it was amazing. I can see, after watching this, why people are making these comments because it doesn't really make sense without the costumes and scenery, but believe me, it is well worth it, I loved the songs, the acting, and especially the special effects!! Big shout out to Hugh Coles who plays George McFly, he was amazing and so so funny. Also loved Olly Dobson ( Marty Mcfly) and of course Roger Bart's Doc Brown. A must see for all BTTF fans !

ALtho there's a certain cynicism I have for shows like this (relying on a movie concept with rock standards attached), my heart also aches for them. FIVE workshops! A director swap... Roger Bart looks amazing as Doc Brown and I would love to hear more of the original music. That's the real key. People may make it a hit from nostalgia but the score and performances are what will make it live. I went searching for info because the cast and orchestra did a solo mix thing with Power of Love and just sent it out - very wise to keep it in people's minds. Break legs that you find another theater and the audience!!

Like the idea but I'm not really sure how or why back to the future should be a musical?
peter papadimitriou I think the same thing… But when I look at musical theater history so many musicals were based on ideas that seemed really impractical. Who’s going to take a girl to a picnic in Oklahoma? How to turn someone into a fair lady by teaching her proper English? A musical about an American revolutionary who dies in a duel? I mean the hero dies in the end! Come on shouldn’t work! These days they’ve also discovered that with movies there’s a built-in audience of people who grew up seeing them and then want to take their kids to the Broadway musical version.
With transforming a very well-known beloved moving to a Broadway, At the risk of sounding so cynical there is a demographic that if the musical actually works they can cash in on. Many people saw this movie as kids in its original run and now has a musical they’re old enough to afford big price tickets and take your children and relive the memory. The key is with those so-called crazy ideas is how do you make it work? If you can make it work then it’s a bonanza! If it doesn’t work it comes off as a pale imitation. In theory wrapping Hip Hop musical about an American where Bruce and Harry should not work but it does! So hopefully it will work for all of those involved. I’m not especially invested in it but I do like to see successful musicals happen Which means there’s residual effects for the entire Theater community globally.

God I was like 13 years old when the first back to the future movie came out in 1985 and I'm a stroke and cardiac arrest survivor now but probably like most people wanted more especially after the 3rd film. If this musical comes here in Hamilton, I'll try to go see it, but have limited mobility as I use a cane for balance when I'm outside walking around and don't drive anymore. Thanks
The OG creative team said it was a way to pay homage without going for the cash grab of remaking the first movie or doing a 4th. A lot of the elements of the core story: the special effects, over exaggerated characters, and a lead who's a musician set it up nicely.

@@josh72456 I have to admit that I was sceptical but as soon as the performance ended the first thing we said was that we had to see it again. We have actually bought tickets to see it again. If you are local to Manchester I do recommend watching it because it was amazing. I have, btw, grown up watching the film and its sequels

I've never wanted a stage musical go away. Especially now that I've seen this. The acting is fine, it's just not a very good show from what I've seen.
I saw it last night and it got a standing ovation with the crowd on their feet singing 'Back in Time'

Joseph Carlisle I was sceptical too but having seen it, I must respectfully disagree. The musical is of the same standard and love that made the films classics. This show will take London and Broadway by storm.

It has just won Best New Musical and is storming the West End at the moment! It has been such a great success. It's coming up to its first year in the west end soooo.... Dennis was wrong! I've seen the show 3 times now and it is the most amazing thing ever!
technically Dennis was initially correct because Covid stopped it for a while 🤣
May this never make it transatlantic and if it does, that it will go away quickly like Ghost or Dirty Dancing.
this music written for the show just sounds awful and forgettable. Like the "flashdance" musical. Ugh. No.
It's actually a pretty decent rock musical. Saw it in previews last week and it was a lot of fun.
