That was me pointing that out regarding the bosch blades.I am waiting for my blades to come. The multitool arrived already and it is great.I'll keep the file and a saw in the sheath ,of course
What I would love to see wit this tool, replace the thick awl with a thin needle, change the flathead to a scaple holder, change the small flathead with a pry bar type tool.
For the bits I just took a yogurt lid and cut a piece down to the size of the elastic sleeve and rounded the corners. I slid the plastic in the elastic sleeve and now my bits slide in very easily in front of the plastic and behind the elastic. The retention is still great and I cannot shake the bits out no matter how hard I try, but inserting and removing is incredibly easy with no snagging at all. And the plastic piece stays put as well. It is a 100% fix that cost zero $ and only took 60 seconds. Clarification: The order front to back is elastic, plastic, bits, rest of case.
Great find on the Husky 37-in-1. I got one the other day. The one big downside is that the bit holder only holds 14 of the 18 bits. I'm looking at alternate bit holders.
Another potential addition is that Leatherman sells replacement metal cutting blades for their EOD model that fit the same t-shank. I added one to mine.
I cut an insert from an old plastic check book to cover the space between the bits and the outside elastic pouch. It now doesn’t snag and works perfectly.
Can you do a short or maybe another video on the cardboard "spacer" for the t-shank? You went over that a bit fast and covered up the adaptation with the caption.
I only need about 4 bits for EDC so i drop a tiny round magnet into the driver receptacle and then i can use standard bits. 3 or 4 single sided bits in a slim holder fits into the front pouch much easier
Me again Margret. After your month in video, I am thinking of getting one. My problem is that I want a multitool dedicated to outdoor use. They simply don't make one. I used to modify a Leatherman Wave for the purpose, but eventually snapped the expensive 154CM main blade. Now that they have switched to 420c, I would rather buy a can of beans and make a knife out of it before buying another Wave. I won't pay premium price for junk. However, the steel in these DL30 is okay for the purposes, better actually than Leatherman, so I am thinking of getting one to mod the heck out of. The T shank adapter is going to provide the ability for three extra cutting blades, fine-cut wood, metal, and diamond or carbide coated for stone. That in itself will be worth it's weight in gold. I can also mod some other stuff to fit the T shank, like a gouge and a hook. The screwdriver blades I will turn into chisels, and the can opener can stay a can opener, lol. At this price point, modding is affordable. I also intent to mod a ferrocerium fire-steel to fit the bit holder. THEN it will be outdoor oriented.
@@hvacbudget8600 At that price, if the blade ticks me off too much I can tear it apart and make a real main cutting blade from O1 tool steel. What I DON'T want in a blade is to have to resharpen every five minutes when using it to carve wood or prepare game. At that point, stainless steel really is bottom-shelf grade material for the job. The whole "sharpens easily" argument leaves out the fact that it gets dull just as easily. I think I am asking too much out of commercial companies expecting quality though. Even the 154CM wasn't as good as O1 can be, if hardened and tempered properly. You can do stuff with O1 that freaks people out, such as have a rockwell 60 edge and a dead soft spine, which means the blade won't break, can literally get bent into a "U" shape, even though it will get scary sharp and hold that edge for half of forever. If you do it right, the edge won't even crack when bent, but that shows skill.
HUSKY is good value. We use lots of part to mod our multitool. Try using magnets on the holder to hold the bits so it doesn't fall into the sheath. Cheers mate.
I bought a dl1 and a dl30 as father's day gift and both are great. I keep dl1 at home and dl30 in the garage on my toolbox. I often just use dl30 and it serves me well on various tasks. I have a folding utility knife and a Victorinox swisschamp for more fine works where I need to work on small stuff. Then dl1 and dl30 comes into play for more heavy duty home DIY repairs
I have the dl1 on its way. It is the perfect tool selection for me. I picked up a beat little but kit from Temu. It's called 11pcs/set S2 Alloy Steel Material Screwdriver Bit Spanner Tri Wing Torx Hex Star Spanner Screwdrive Magnetic Bit Holder Screw Driver Bits. Surprisingly useful and will be even better withe the 1/4 bit driver on the Dl1.
2:12 Aren't scalpel blades cheaper? I didn't even know there was a T shank scalpel adaptor. If I get the DL30 I'll definitely have to look into one. Though I'm thinking about getting the scalpel replacement for the blade slot and trading out the serrated blade for it. I never use a serrated blade but a scalpel blade would be great for boxes. 4:26 Thanks for they Husky recommendation. That looks like a good, cheap driver set on it's own.
@@hvacbudget8600 I know there is a scalpel mod for the wave but what I don't know is if the Surge blades and Wave blades are compatible. If they are then the Wave scalpel might work. If I get the DL30 I might try putting one of the Wave's blades on it as a test run.
@@hvacbudget8600 I will if I go with the DL30 or the Surge. I still haven't made up my mind yet. Looking into GOAT multitool now. I've run into an issue though. Watched a few videos on it and went through it's site and still can't find out where it's made. I know it's a US company owned by a vet but I can't find out where it and the components are made. Edit: I just checked and the same guy that makes the Wave scalpel also makes them for the Surge. Both left hand and right hand versions.
Thanks for this, i like the ratchet driver, extension bit and clip on the surge, do you have any work arounds for these? Thanks for sharing and your hard work.
If you just use the screw driver without the handle you have eight tips and two nut drivers and possibly an extension. Just that alone may store nicely in a pouch.
Will the pair fit inside a roxon phantom pouch with the bit pouch behind the tool or put the bitkit in a little ziploc bag (with a side benefit of less chance of rust/corrosion)?
Hello, my daicamping dl30 just came in and so far it's great. I have a one problem, when I open serrated knife, the lock stick is not working sometimes. Is there any way to fix this?
I would check to see if the bottom of the blade is ground too flat or not enough. Maybe the pivot needs loosened or tightened. It sounds like maybe the blade just isn't clearing the spring so it can snap out in place.
It is a bit hard to find these on Aliexpress at least. In the USA Klien and Husky are great options to find double sided detent bits. Are there any 10-in-1 or 12-in-1 screwdrivers that use double sided bits at any of your local home improvement stores?
The last thing to upgrade in this tool - is to grind the hook on the serrated blade and and put a little ratchet into the pouch :D what I learned having multitools - the metal\plastic saw is really essential. It already saved me many times - just last weekend I cut the copper 125A bus to proper size to repair broken distribution box, and cut additional holes in thick plastic box to fit the corrugated pipes inside - the wooden saw just can't help me with that as well as battery tools. Disposable t-shank blades are really good find!
I ordered Daicamping dl30 for 31$. Honestly... for this amount it's hard to complain, but I also have SOG and Nextool multitools and I must say that daicamping is poor compared to others. I'm not talking about materials or appearance, but more about ease of use. As if the tool was assembled without quality control, without checking whether the elements fit well, etc. When disassembling the tool, using pliers, etc.... you immediately get the impression that it is a low-end tool. I'm sorry but that's how it is. And it's definitely not an edc tool. If someone is looking for a multitool for everyday use and uses the multitool often, I definitely do not recommend it because it is not very pleasant to use. For me, it will be a tool that I can throw into the garage or trunk and maybe it will come in handy sometimes. I'm a bit disappointed and I think maybe Swiss Tech would be better or maybe all Chinese ones are similar... I don't know. But... I don't regret it because it's only 31$ so... for that kind of money it can be a spare tool or a tool for dirty work and you won't regret it if it breaks or get lost.
That was me pointing that out regarding the bosch blades.I am waiting for my blades to come. The multitool arrived already and it is great.I'll keep the file and a saw in the sheath ,of course
Really appreciate the heads up! Those blades are far better than I expected!
Yes, a great tip. I bought the DL30 a few weeks ago and will now get the Bosch t-shank cutting blades.
