Dash Boy well let’s put it this way. A lot of college students are lazy as hell. A lot of them just go to college just so they can party, drink beer, do drugs, and have sex. Ya know you can do all of that without college. But back to what I was saying. A lot of college graduates don’t want to work. They basically get a degree for nothing, and just basically set on their asses.

Nothing wrong with attending college but you have to finish in a timely manner. Many many students take way way way tooooo long to get through school. It takes forever for most students. That's what I've seen as the biggest problem with college. Yes it costs money but the amount of time just adds to the cost not only in terms of debt but the opportunity cost of losing work experience. It's ok to go to school, but get in, get done, and get out. DON'T TAKE FOREVER!!! Otherwise college really is a waste of time.
I agree. However, some students have unfortunate circumstances and are forced to take longer or the program was harder. (For example, many students *struggle* with algebra.) Colleges add really hard majors to their subjects.
Very few advisors will remind you that your time from 18-30 is your youth energy prime! And you think paying to sit in a lecture hall is a wise investment of that time at today's tuition prices?!? If you get your business off the ground in those young years, you will never look back!
It seems there are people from just about every type of career that are not finding work even though they have tens of thousands in loan debt. I would say that until the government fixes this problem, don't play the game. If you can't get a degree without student loans, than don't go to college. It's better to be oppressed without debt than with debt.
Or, work before and during college. Save as much as possible and don't take out student loans, unless absolutely necessary. Second, save gas money and other things. It's possible, just very hard. And DON'T go to university. It's a trap! Go to community college. People give it less credit, but community college is good, too.
College is not what it used to be for our parents and grandparents. Now it's more of a debt than reward. I dont recommend it to anyone if money is a factor, PERIODT.
damn I was born in NJ now I live in PA after I graduated high school I attended community back in 2013. I went for a semester and than dropped out, eventually I would go to technical school and studied HVAC or heating, air conditioning, and ventilation, I completed the course but had a hard time finding employment, eventually I did little commercial work, plumbing amd heating, residential specifically, I did electrical work, and than i did concrete work lifting 80 pound bags and installing floor mat, eventually I would go back to college in 2017 to study accounting amd maybe history so double major, eventually i found a taxi job and went to school for a semester, so a year m half i was im university, now im out of school found small jobs or traveled out of state to work. Now im about to work granite and than possibly get into real estate because i was invited to career party night lol. hope all goes well and maybe if i have to finish school that i must do. all im saying it all depends on how you look at it and what your abilities consist of. lastly it all depends what gets bestowed on you.
What she said about the algorithm about google is not a fair representation of what they are actually looking for. Yes, they don’t look at GPA as much (except for internships where they still do) but they do care about your degree. And if anyone got into google or another big company without a degree is an outlier and not a true representation of the whole statistic
One of my beefs with college is that you have to take a lot of courses that have nothing to do with your major. For example - you're majoring in Mechanical Engineering and you have to take electives like English Literature and European History. They say it makes you more well-rounded. BULLSHIT !!! Educators have been repeating that same mantra for decades. Call me a Philistine but I say those courses are a waste of time and money.
College is great ONLY if you know what you want to do or know what your getting yourself into. I know two people who majored in Business Management, one is working sanitation; while, the other is working as an usher in NYC.
If ...U think STEM is the option ...no. It's not.... software's go to india and blue collar go to china...for low wages...it's nature of capitalism...and ...all engineering branches are basically. Saturated fields ...with no innovation...and stagnation economics
College is worth it for some people. However, the best way to avoid student loan debt is to work before and through college. Get a full scholarship or go to Community college. That's the best piece of advice. Short answer: don't go into debt/ or something you can't afford!
The problem I have with this story is that it is too general. It always depends on what kind of degree students get and what major a student decided to major in.
It is interesting that tuition fees in the US once were easy affordable. Another interesting fact is that there are countries where you don't pay any tuition fees at all, like Germany.
Even if college is free it still wouldn't be worth it. Wasting time of your life for a pointless degree that isn't required for a job. My friend works as a cashier and is still struggling to pay off his college debt. Coming from someone as myself who has a degree, college is not worth it at all. Unless you are going to be in the medical, teaching or law field, you should not go to college.
My mom is from the Philippines, she has a Filipino high school degree, no college. she makes 20 dollars /hr working 12 hour shifts in the Lab at a local Cheese plant. she gets lots of vacation and gets double time on sundays. I used to work there as well in the same plant, same lab. making 25/ hr , and I regret leaving that company because I would probably be making wages only slightly less than what she is getting now. I left the company because I met my wife while she was working on conservation efforts and achieving her graduate degree, 4 years and 4 internships later, I have consistently held down a higher income, while having only a GED, and only 2 semesters of humanities in college. She is about to recieve a masters degree. I have multiple years of experience in several fields of manufacturing, ranging from food, chemical, and aircraft. I strongly believe that her higher education endeavors have set her back in such a way that she will never from financially. My dad has a PHD and he has never made as much money as my step mother with not a second of college education. my wife is nearly at masters level, and has never made as much money as I have. College has become a useless money pit. Do yourself a favor and learn to weld, perform plumbing or auto repair. learn to work in a lab at a food plant near you. if you do any of those things, you will have so many opportunites open to you that College will seem like such a waste of time.
if you are going to college just for a degree, it might not be worth it. but if you want to get knowledge, then college might be worth it. i don't know why it's always about money, money, money. what happened to getting education because you want to learn? i know it sounds crazy to most people, and i think that is the problem in this society.

I'm also not sure what she's on about Google not caring where you went to school. I worked there & most people who get hired have degrees from top schools, some advanced degrees up to PhD. What you have to understand is these people are very different from average or anyone most of you know. They're not just extremely intelligent, but combine that with very high levels of motivation and focus. As long as jocks > geeks in US schools you gonna have a lot of useless people around.
The guys who are working at Costco, FedEx, UPS, and the post office are all doing better than me. And I'm a doctor! College was definitely not worth it. It is a scam. In the end, it's better to work in a factory making 40-50k and getting tons of benefits, a retirement plan, and paid vacation all without the burden of a college debt. Don't go to college. Become a plumber, a mechanic, a technician, a repairman, a driver. And work for a big company so that you can get great benefits. All you need is a community college certificate to get your foot in the door and as long as that company doesn't go bankrupt, you're set. There's no need to incur several hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt. That idiotic model for success was a scam.
Its true that the general population that graduates will make more money in their lifetime. Problem is it seems like every1 is just following the pack. You see it all the time when young adults get asked "where do u go to school? what r you studying?". Society suggest that to be successful or to be normal you have to finish post secondary. I believe post secondary is not for everyone and it depend on the person and what they want to do.
I love these woman she is on point. But i would love to be limited to jobs $20 plus an hour but i cant get them. Employers value experience but i cant do a low paid internship because i have to make more to pay off loans. 90% of highly sucessful people will say the college had no impact on their sucess. And they would be where they are quicker without college. One sucessful woman i went to college with told me college helped her with time management.
Find out why this college ranked the way it did. The longer the bar, the better the college performed. Green bars show a better than average ranking. Yellow is about average and red is below average. Overall, Southern New Hampshire University is ranked 1,125 out of 1,383. This means that about 81% of the colleges in our system rank as well or better than this college.

You were clever enough an passionate enough to put that intelligence of yours to use in a field that, frankly, is doing better than most fields today.
I disagree, I graduated at a public college with my master and no deficit. Now I'm accounting and making $55,000 year. I suggest not going to private college.
You go to college for the degree nothing else! Most of the stuff they teach you can be learned online and usually you never use the stuff they teach you!And you now have a massive debt that will take forever just to pay off!
I was a banker until the collapse, B2B rep for lenders I left bus a month before it started and "was to blame" by hiring companies, was blackballed for over a year which gives birth to an employment gap that is used against you which then snowballs into long term unemployment... and no for any trolls I never took one penny from the govt
Getting an education is excellent but I say colleges should not rip off student who’s is getting there degrees in low minor and majors if you not going to school to be a doctor, lawyer, teacher even though teachers don’t get paid enough scientist student shouldn’t have to pay for that degree you shouldn’t have to pay for a degree in business or a PhD tittle and major in arts that just don’t make since they should only charge for living on campus in those little degrees and leave the education free included the books and four years that way the debet can make since pay to live on campus not education for degrees that don’t guarantee a job. Cause the living is what make up most of the debt anyway.
I feel like everyone who watch these videos are idiots who are failing either high school or college. Just be warned, most people who drop out don’t succeed and are poor. You can’t just decide to drop out and expect to be a millionaire. You have to be a genius with money to spare and strategies to use.
If you do the research most people who dropout of college aren't failing; they're running out of money and can't pay the loan. In fact, Bill Gates estimates that Student Loan debt is at least 1.4 trillion.
Depends on what you want, education is great for expanding awareness, it will not earn money without innovation and creativity, yoz become whatvyou know which has great value, but not necessarily earn you money, i am in so.much student loan dept, its insane! :/ but i will never regret learning and earning degrees..education is essential for progress! #JustSaying
I almost have a degree and I'm not in debt. However, my advice is, don't go after a degree that pays little. In fact, don't go to college unless you can afford it. Save every penny. Don't spend unless you have to. Go to community college and work during college and save, save, save. Don't go to university and study/major in Sociology or Journalism. Basically, if don't pay, no way!
You don’t earn more money with college degree, you earn more money by working hard in industry and getting promoted. Stop with the fucking myth about college earn more money, becoming a restaurant owner earn more money too without a degree
I agree. There is hope. If you want a future, you should invest in college education. Besides, students need and deserve the experience. It's impressive to employers to have a bachelor's degree.
YTAF you going to college to get a job that pays $10 an hour?!! You're doing it wrong! Also man those Anthony Bourdain ad banners 😔 RIP bro. If you are going to college for a specific real skill like engineering, physics, math, or some medical or law degree, fine. Just don't overpay. Business I don't know as much about. But poly sci, anything with studies in the name... only if your parents are rich and you don't need to work. Teaching can pay okay, but it's a brutal career, ppl burn out in 5 years. Arts degrees? Statistically you won't make a living as an artist of any kind, but if you have genius talent and dedication you can. Think carefully about what you'll do with a degree and how many of those slots there really are.
There needs to be a total change of culture where being smart, well rounded & well educated isn't considered a negative among your peers. Unfortunately, in most American schools & even universities stupidity is celebrated while intelligent people are shunned.
This is terrible advice. It very much depends on the degree & if you actually study or just get drunk 5 times a week. A lot of Americans treat college as very expensive party time & get stupid degrees, then wonder why they can't get a job. My brother went to a state school & got a degree in CS. He has no debt, rents his own apt with no roommates, and just got his 3rd job since graduation making $85K at just 24.
Getting my bachelors and masters from good universities helped open doors for me. I was told by my new job that where I went to school for my bachelors made me stand out from the other candidates. So, my education helped me get a job with a 50% raise fast tracking my career. I wiped out my student loans in my first year of working full time. So, getting a college degree is worth it if you are smart about it and pick a career field that is in high demand with high barriers to entry.
The main problem is that Americans are not studying hard and they are so choosey in selecting college undergraduate degrees. Where I am, in my country American hospitals are hiring so many nurses, teachers, doctors, engineers, physical therapist and IT professionals to name a few. There are so much openning that agencies responsible for hiring cannot compete the job order slots. We have surplus of graduate nurses and other medical related course. But there are so much skills gap especially in healthcare especially nurses and engineers and physical therapist. I simply do not know why most americans want either to be the next Dr. Phil or the next great business executives wherein there are other degree jobs that they simply do not want and of course companies instead look into foreign job pool to fill that gap coz americans simply are too dumb and lazy to see this courses are not "cool" and innovative. They also do not want skills coz its dirty and they want to become the next jake paul a dumb youtuber star or the next michael jordan or probably bill gates. Fame and fortune from celebrity rags to riches always is on the line. Pursuing passion is not common sense is what americans are always wanting. Passion cannot put food on the table.
college is fine and all until you realize you dont want to be a doctor or teacher or whatever you went there for

College is a waste of money. If you do need a college just go for your AA or AS degree. Cheaper! Plus lesser cost and you won't be in debt. Getting a bachelor is not worth it because you have more loans to pay off by the time your done.
You're a regular George Carlin. You think there are 80k jobs for graduates? That's cute. Middle class jobs are disappearing and they are not coming back.

If you get your business off the ground in those young years, you will never look back!
basically it is the loans that are not worth it
It seems there are people from just about every type of career that are not finding work even though they have tens of thousands in loan debt.
Learn plumbing and start off as a helper making $900 a week
If entrepreneurship doesn't work out. Plumbing was always the plan .
College is not what it used to be for our parents and grandparents. Now it's more of a debt than reward. I dont recommend it to anyone if money is a factor, PERIODT.
damn I was born in NJ
now I live in PA
after I graduated high school I attended community back in 2013. I went for a semester and than dropped out, eventually I would go to technical school and studied HVAC or heating, air conditioning, and ventilation, I completed the course but had a hard time finding employment, eventually I did little commercial work, plumbing amd heating, residential specifically, I did electrical work, and than i did concrete work
lifting 80 pound bags and installing floor mat, eventually I would go back to college in 2017 to study accounting amd maybe history so double major, eventually i found a taxi job and went to school for a semester, so a year m half i was im university, now im out of school found small jobs or traveled out of state to work.
Agreed! I unfort went college route and regret it. My business degree w/ concentration in finance got me NOWHERE!!!!

You nailed it. Shit, I went on Reddit explaining that college isn’t worth and all I got was a bunch of naysayers giving me shit.
WHY IS THIS SH*T OKAY.
On top of that; growing population, outsourcing jobs and threat of automation.
if you are going to college just for a degree, it might not be worth it. but if you want to get knowledge, then college might be worth it. i don't know why it's always about money, money, money. what happened to getting education because you want to learn? i know it sounds crazy to most people, and i think that is the problem in this society.
There is nothing wrong with that, but it carries a very high opportunity cost to career progression.
Matt it’s because some people can’t afford high education like Harvard or Stanford.
Do you live under a rock or something? With tuition outpacing the rate of inflation for over 30 years now, how can it not be about money?

Exactly, I had 3 internships and went to Columbia and now I have 0 debt 200k salary and ppl telle college isn't worth it.

Abolish compulsory schooling and totally shut down the government High Schools and Universities!
