The Villages created an environment and opportunity for this type of lawlessness to happen. The Village isn't culpable but hasn't dissuaded these activities, looking the other way. It sounds like an unsafe place to live.

Better then where I sent my grandfather who died last May. My family had no choice but to put him in a assisted living facility. My grandfather is a retired colonel, served in the Korean War and Vietnam, lived his life for this country but his pension was too high to live at the VA (he could live there if he gave his entire pension) so we found a place that looked amazing from outside and was suppose to be a place for retired veterans. After my grandfather was there they sold the place twice the last one to a drug rehab place. They kicked most of the seniors out but kept 20 of them one being my grandfather and tried lying to us about the situation until an employee called us. They were keeping my grandfather confined to his room, I was going to get a new place but then Covid happened and my grandfather died 4 months later. It turned out they hadn’t given my grandfather his eye drops and went blind, nor his medication. I way rather him have enjoyed his last years then the nightmare he lived and this is only 10% of the nightmare.
OMG. I would’ve drone striked the assisted living home for trying to evade their duties. That is extremely cruel that they let your grandpa go blind by not giving his prescription eye drops. Give your grandpa my prayers and tell him I thank him for his service (though I ain’t even American) whenever you visit his grave.

I heard many very loud nuisance neighbors with loud dogs barking all the time. Seniors behaving badly. Not a quiet peaceful community. Many seniors were so disappointed living there in the chaos.
My uncle Billy lives here He goes by the name of blue eyes and I don’t want to say he’s a swinger or anything but he does fit the description of partying etc.
I used to live 10 mins from the villages and worked at a restaurant where I was told by a customer the STD rates in that community were high . The seniors there know how to have a good time tho .
Grandparents used to live there (sadly both passed), when my family would visit everyone seemed nice and it felt like a countless cycle of relaxation. It was calming in a way but also very unsettling. Went there a couple moths back (January 2021) to deal with my grandparents' place and everything was like it was before the pandemic, with not many people wearing masks correctly if at all. The entire place seems isolated from the rest of the world, which is both great and unsettling.

But, there is certainly nothing bad about natural diversity, which seems totally absent here. This really looks like some nightmarish TV drama, not real life. I'm 67 and live on 5 acres in a large ranch home in upstate NY...it's cold as hell here with 9" of snow on the ground, which I shovel every day it arrives. The documentary Some Kind of Heaven was a transparent hit job, backed in part by the New York Times. Anyone who knows about the Villages is aware that the documentary (and this piece by Inside Edition) is garbage. Of the mere FOUR people highlighted in the documentary, one didn't even live there (!), one of the couple had mental issues, and a woman was quickly widowed after arriving and had trouble connecting with people. It could not have been more detached from the reality of a place with 130,000 people.
Honestly we didn't want the villages because it caters to tourists, destroys wildlife, keeps developing land, doesn't respect our locals, and they love to come down here but they also expect it to be the way they expected. It also makes the price of EVERYTHING go up. It sucks.

The documentary Some Kind of Heaven was a transparent hit job, backed in part by the New York Times. Anyone who knows about the Villages is aware that the documentary (and this piece by Inside Edition) is garbage. Of the mere FOUR people highlighted in the documentary, one didn't even live there (!), one of the couple had mental issues, and a woman was quickly widowed after arriving and had trouble connecting with people. It could not have been more detached from the reality of a place with 130,000 people.
Honestly we didn't want the villages because it caters to tourists, destroys wildlife, keeps developing land, doesn't respect our locals, and they love to come down here but they also expect it to be the way they expected. It also makes the price of EVERYTHING go up. It sucks.
