- Battery died on the job. Tag along as I use simple, easy to follow techniques to find out why the battery died. I show the individual parts of a mower charging system and how they work to keep the battery charged under a load.

15v Definitely charging bud!
👍nice video. But that mower sounds like it's got a old dodge starter on it .
Hey Brian, glad you're up and around again. Seldom do I see one of your videos that don't learn something!
@charlesbeall2589 Thanks for watching! I try to include something educational in every video. I don't always hit the mark, but I do try. 🤣
Very informative video
@@Biglew-k3m Thanks for watching! As I said in the video, I'm a virgin at diagnosing electrical problems. I gave it my best shot. Thank God I got it right. 😁
One of my degrees is in electronics technology so I know how to use a multimeter seven ways to Sunday. However, I'm not all that familiar with the internal electrical workings of small engines. So this video taught me some things! Like you, I'm all for saving money and Amazon is a definite go-to for finding something that you either can't find locally or find it way too expensive.
@@auralsonicwaves7170 Thank you so much. It's comments like yours that keep me going. I greatly appreciate your support.
👍
My craftsman zts has the electric clutch ,not what I would have chose but I bought it cheap and used because it needed work.
I hate not supporting local dealers but in this economy a person can't afford their prices.
@@TABrown-xh7xc I wouldn't have anything but an electric clutch. Manual lever tension systems tend to allow the belt to slip. Electric clutches keep constant tension and blade speed, thus making the mower more efficient.
@@TABrown-xh7xc yep!
Yeah, a lack of charging will kill those lead-acids fast. That’s why car batteries, which are often heavily abused, die so quickly.
Yeah, dealerships (a.k.a. stealerships) do tend to overcharge.
The meter needs to be on DC volts and not AC volts On AC volts it will read 0 volts
@jamesfields4149 That's what I figured out off camera.
