Your window shouldn’t have condensation on the inside. The window is probably not sealed right at the factory. I used to build windows. You’re doing a wonderful job I admire you so much. Make sure you wipe your walls down before you paint because they’ll be covered with drywall dust.
Tia not to be ugly but I have done quit a bit of remodel in my days and I don't understand why you are putting so much mud on the sheet rock. The least you use the better minimal sanding and clean up. Just wondering who told you you had to put it on that many layers. Your doing an awesome job on your $1 house ❤
That's amazing just $23k for all you've done up to now; inc heating, electrics, roof and yard. Imagine if you'd got contractors in!! Very well done Tia (and Dad) - you should be proud of yourself.
Consider running a dehumidifier for a week or so. This will help to dry out the house since there's so much in new materials, spackle that needs to dry, wood, paint, and so on. While it may feel dry to the touch, it's about the moisture content, similar to allowing firewood to season. A dehumidifier will efficiently remove moisture.
Hi neighbor! Minnesota here. Love the trim. I did the same trim in my house. Make sure you sand the mill glaze off the pine before you stain it. The pine you buy is almost polished from the machines at the factory. Pine doesnt take stain very evenly either. Use a gel stain to match your floors. It will look much better than a tradition soak in the wood type stain.
Tia, after "Stevie" is complete, you should consider having a "virtual housewarming." You could give a grand tour to all your UA-cam fans, show a complete set of before and after pics, maybe even do a live Q&A with subscribers. For so many of us, this is a great part of our Sunday routines now.
The other thing you could do about the sewer gas coming through the pipe is put water in the trap (bent elbow part of the pipe). That will prevent gas from escaping.
Love the trim. You might want to talk to someone about the small window it’s probably has a leak & going to need replaced. You’re doing a great job. 😊✌️
Yes. Ask your local store manager who you bought the windows from to come out and see it, or bring them your video to look at. You are buying so much from them that they should just replace it for you and not charge you, to keep customer relations with you good. (It never hurts to ask! You're so darn cute who could resist you! ♥)
I am only 1 of thousands of comments, but I am so glad you named the house. I had mentioned it in 1 of your first videos, and the reason is because you have done so much work and improvement that the "$1 House" just didn't give all your work the praise it deserved. I think "Stevie" is very fitting and the wreath is just the start. Been following from the beginning and looking forward to seeing "the fun stuff". Great job!
You've probably already bought your supplies at Menards, but previously a bunch of us recommended not using tile flooring in the kitchen. I hope you re-think the decision. Tile in a kitchen is just bad. Hard, cold, unforgiving, easy to chip and crack, difficult to replace cracked tiles. And so on. We had tile floors in two rental properties and they just did not hold up. The new laminates are gorgeous and hold up well. You're doing an amazing job!
Agree!!! It is by far the worst. No matter the color every crumb shows. Anything dropped shatters into a million pieces and leaves a chip and it’s painful to stand on.
I had cork tiles on the kitchen floor in the house I grew up in - they were warm, soft to the touch and dropped dishes rarely shattered. Plus they’re very good for the environment, insulating and they look nice!
Dern but that window trim MAKES this house, VERY well done. As to the drywall, you said it yourself-the more you did, the better you got. That's true of everything.
Following up with the comment about changing the furnace filter, now drywall is done: I know you're going to vacuum everywhere with your shop vac to get everything left (including walls and such), but don't forget to take off the floor covers for your heating system and vacuum down into the air ducts, too. I used to have a residential cleaning business and was always amazed - doing a deep clean - how much "stuff" accumulated down there besides dust! LOVE watching Stevie emerge, week by week. Brava, diva!
You made the right decision to do your own sheetrock. NO ONE would be as conscientious as you yourself. I guarantee you got a much better finish doing it with your Dad! Contractors are in it for the money, not quality.
There are some who are particular about their work. If you are restoring victorian's, craftsman or other homes, there are contractors who do that type of work, they are artisans, but don't come cheap.Cant wait to see Tia the whole house when done.
All my windows and doors have the same style of trim! We copied the trim from my grandmothers home which was built in 1910; I love the craftsman look.😊
There is a light at the end of the tunnel for “Stevie” to be complete. You’ve put so much of yourself into this house so of course you feel connected to it. It’s coming along beautifully. From “The $1 house”, to naming the house “Stevie” was a brilliant decision. Great choice. Just like Ms. Stevie Nicks, this house will be amazing, wonderful and so full of the love you feel for the house. If you can, to pay homage to the great Stevie Nicks, I recommend a dark blue Tiffany lamp like the one her mother bought her after joining Fleetwood Mac. She said it was the first really beautiful thing she got and she sees it as the light at the end of the tunnel, symbolizing the light that shines through the night and keeps it on all the time. I have her songbook and there’s a photo of her and the lamp, it’s in her living room and it’s stunning. I think your living room would look gorgeous with a dark blue Tiffany lamp.
The wreath looks so nice on the beautiful door you chose. The craftsman trio in the windows looks so elegant. You have exquisite taste, and I know Stevie is going to be stunning when you’re done. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Make sure you wash your walls with very damp mop that you use for floors after sanding buy before painting. Paint will stick soo much better, just go over one time so the Sheetrock doesn’t get too wet
Oh my goodness, Tia. I am also obsessed with your gorgeous window trim. Your cozy home is turning out so beautiful already. Your lovely wreath is so cherry and festive.
Straight up fabulous trim! Condensation on that storage window isn't normal, I'd check that out and see if needs a warranty claim or there's something else going on.
@ that’s under part of the house without the basement and no/minimal insulation and the furnace puts heat through the duct work and doesn’t radiate out into the room.
Tia......you are BY FAR the most talented person whom I’ve ever seen on UA-cam and are incredibly blessed to have your father working with you side by side. I’ve seen all of your videos and will continue to do so even when you reach 1 million subscribers. So incredibly proud of you. You’re going to have a gorgeous home and deserve it!!!!
If I were driving by and saw a cheerful wreath on a house that was still being renovated after being abandoned for so long, I might start crying lol. The wreath is such a symbol of all the joy and hope you're pouring into this house.
My husband and I gutted our 100+ year old house and renovated it about 12 years ago. I could handle all of the mess and aggravation, but drywall mudding, taping, and sanding was the worst! I feel your pain and your relief that it's done! :)
Condensation does not mean your clothes will not be bleached. Others commented that the window is defective. To keep your clothes from being faded from the sunlight you need a UV film on the window. I worked in a museum and we needed the UV film from drying out the wood and carpeting. Investigate wether the window needs to be pre treated with the UV film or if it already comes with the UV coating. Good Luck. I am loving the progress.
You are getting closer to getting to move in, by doing all the work with the help of your Dad no surprises when you are done. Mack from Midwest Magic Cleaning still gives you a shout out on his channel stating what a hard worker you are and for everyone to check out your channel
After you paint the primer some bad spots miraculously show up. No worries. You can sand those spots, add a little mud and re-prime those areas. Ask me how I know.
I wish I had not found your channel until you were done…then I could binge watch every week and wouldn’t have to wait😂, love your trim choice and great job doing it yourself
Love your design choice for your window trim! With the drywall mudding and sanding done, the worst is over, lol. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming finishing touches. Beautiful wreath, Merry Christmas 🎄
I have in the past done both roofing and mudding sheetrock. I rather do roofing, then sheetrock mudding. I do like the trim around your windows. Plus sanding is done. Looking good. I would take a damp rag or something to wipe down the dust on your walls before painting. You are doing a great job, can't wait to see the final product.
You're is really starting to really look good, I miss them days of sheet rocking and mudding, I'm retired from that kind of work. Keep up the good, looking forward to your next video. Take care.
Hey Tia, I watched your video again and wanted to mention this. Before you paint, be sure to wipe down the walls with a damp tack cloth. I'm sure you know there is a layer of dust everywhere after all that sanding. If you don't wipe down the walls your paint will just stick to the dust and then fail later. My husband is a professional painter and he's had a real mess to clean up a few times after that kind of mistake. It's also really hard to correct it once the paint starts to come off in chips, you basically have to re-texture the whole wall.
You create such nice videos. I like the kindness of your soul that peeps through like a bursting beam of sunlight here and there. You are succeeding marvelously!
I discovered you on your first video of this build and now I can't wait for each Sunday morning and my coffee with Tia! You're doing a great job. Keep it up!
You sure are a smart young lady. I look forward to Sundays watching you get your $1 house livable. Keep up the amazing work.shout out to your dad too.😊
Your window trim design is lovely. And the way the art room window flows with the shelf next to it works beautifully. Good job with the drywall mudding, because wow, is that task ever tedious. It explains why a lot of drywall is finished with splatter-style painting. Your progress is impressive and I've enjoyed every step of the way.
I am so glad you shared your budget update. I was interested in seeing the cost of your fence, but you didn't list it. I think the fence added so much beauty to your property. I love seeing your dad helping you with the renovations. My dad helped me with the renovation of my first home. I couldn't have done it without him. He even built me a beautiful patio when the house was complete. A suggestion in saving some money in the kitchen. You could maybe just install bottom cabinets and open shelving for the top. You could add your dishes, glasses etc. along with decor and plants. It would look really cute and cozy. I hope you can invite the previous owner back for a tour. I would love to see his reaction. You are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.
You have a very wonderful Dad. I know you cherish him. This is what love is all about. Everything y’all have done is beautiful.❤I can’t wait to see it complete. I love old houses. I live in one that has been updated. ❤
And don't EVER put a husband in that home who is someone your Dad doesn't respect and is excited to trust you unto. Would break the man's heart because you are obviously his life's true treasure. ♥

I am loving watching your progress and working with your father. That is a very special relationship and wonderful to see. I absolutely love the window trim. I didn't know you could even get trim like that. Great to know as we will are replacing windows in an old house and will see if we can find something similar. Keep up the amazing work.
Always, always look fwd to ur updates every Sunday ❤ u and ur Dad are doing such amazing work! Thank you for always sharing it with us! Hopefully one day my husband and I can buy a fixer. It's always been a dream of ours.
there is a corner drywall compound hand tool that I have used that works well. Also put a fan on low facing the wet compound and it will help it dry faster. Make sure you use a primer paint on the bare drywall first.
🎄 The wreath is beautiful. You're such an inspiration to many of us. Your dad is so amazing and is always ready to help you. God bless you and your family. 🎄☃️💖
It's so wonderful to me to see your dad helping you like he is. You make a great team! After remodeling and adding onto my own home, I can totally appreciate all the work you are doing. Love your videos.
Condensation means the seal is broken. It’s a defective window. Return it!
Yes definitely not normal, please investigate
Yes, agreed
We have to sand our mud. Then we can pick out the paint
Hope she sees this comment
Yeah, that window should not be doing that.
The trim around the windows is amazing. When you are done with the drywall, change the furnace filter.
Yes this is very important

Your laundry drain has a trap on the bottom. There’s no water in it. Just pour water in that pipe and it will seal the gases out.
Yes you just need to fill the P trap with water. That’s how they work. The water prevents the gases from coming out.

I believe your house is a Craftsman bungalow. Your choice of window style is perfect!
I don't think it's a bungalo. It's too small and has none of the features. It's a "post WWII clapboard" built likely in the late 40's.

there is a corner drywall compound hand tool that I have used that works well.

The reef is so pretty! I also love the trim on the windows so nice. It’s all really coming together.❤
