I highly recommend these Bjork songs: - Hyperballad (Album Version) - Possibly Maybe - All is Full of Love - Joga - Pagan Poetry - Blissing Me - Unravel - Arisen My Senses Just to name a few 🤭😉👊
Bjork is ace, she was so ahead of her time. I'm not normally one to listen to 'pop' music, but she is certainly an exception I'm happy to make. This track always sounds like a much more upbeat Portishead. Don't know if you've ever heard them, if not I suggest Glory Box or Roads.
@@lil_weasel219 I know some people change, but I recall an interview with her implying she's poly. Just saying because idk where Phill heard she's ace.
The song is about a guy who is versed in the art of sensuality. A great song. The whole album, debut, released in 1993 is a masterpiece. So innovative for the time, but hit home so hard. Bjõrk was and still is great. Absolutely an amazing artist.
When I saw her sing "Birthday" I thought "Who is that little girl and how did they make her sing like that?!" Thirty-five years later OMG I am still hooked.

Bjork was brought to the world's attention when she was with the Sugar Cubes. They had a few good songs but "Birthday" was a huge alt-rock hit. It is so unique and great. One if my favorite songs with her as singer but before she went solo. Check it out. But she has a host of great songs. Her big band-ish, "It's Oh So Quiet" (which you mentioned) is currently used in Corolla car commercials in the US which was a fun surprise choice by Toyota.
A personal Bjork favourite is a 'Triumph of a heart' ... no instruments involved just a beatboxer. You should listen to some of her other tracks, always a bit different and an interesting listen, I think its someone you'd like. 👍
1 Yes, it's pronounced byERk 2 "No vocal agility"? Like many songs of this era, it has a lot of Bjork's trademark scat vocal which sounds like a foreign language (but not Icelandic), and that's where her powers as a singer really come through. 3 Obvious comment - just say it, it's a song about a guy who's good at giving head - so of course there are visual double-entendres in the video (even the egg) 4 More musical details - the song as heard here was substantially rearranged, by Talvin Singh (and yes, the strings are real btw): Bjork's first draft was the very spare folk-like version later released as a b-side, and for a long time preferred by Bjork (judging by live performances) 5 Major nostalgic appeal here - this tends to be one of the defining songs of 1993 in British people's memory, even though it wasn't a huge hit (and back then radio stations were playing an awful remix with [bad] extra vocals) 6 It's a pity You Tube doesn't have the superior amateur recording which exists of her first gig (rather than the crappy one), where they gave this song an extended outro (the bass player just couldn't let go of that riff)
BJORK is the top of vocals and uniqueness. When I was in my 20's getting high in my car and driving around I knew this song was all about sex. And I had already met a Venus as a boy. We dated for 3 years and she was my angel that sang my life out loud. I still love and admire her from 1990 n own all her music from Sugarcubes till now. This was her breakout album from the sugarcubes. Very very important album. And from there she has taken us to other planets, literally. She is our portal to those worlds. I love her, always.

Talvin Singh, the dude behind the strings on this, did a remix of Possibly Maybe where he made Bjork redo the vocals in that traditional Indian nasal style and it's quite a joy
Yes, it is about a male lover and is based off the book "story of the eye". she was not ok with the eggs being fried and they should've been boiled which you can see in a scene as it is part of the sex experience of the protagonists of the book.
Hi Tommy , have you ever made a reaction with any Siouxsie's song? What about a difficult one such as Untiedundone or You! ? By the Creatures ( siouxsie Sioux)
If you think this is x-rated I would not recommend Bjork’s Pagan Poetry. I always thought of the eggs symbolizing fertility and this boy, Venus, have had sex, but she’s having breakfast for one. Meaning he hasn’t fertilized her eggs. They just had a nice time but it’s nothing serious.
I need you to react to Susanne Sundfør "Undercover" Live at Stoller Hall. Or "White Foxes" the MV, or at Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Or from Concert at Øyafestivalen, "Delirious". Though, I wouldn't mind if you reacted to all of them. Or, "The Brothel" Official MV. That is a good one, too, Maybe "Fade Away"
I gave you a "like" just because you played "Venus As A Boy" by Bjork. I first heard it in the movie "Leon: The Professional", and I really liked the song.

I've noticed in a number of reaction videos; aparently Greek and Roman mythology is no longer taught to every schoolchild. This is a shame and a tragedy. Anyway, your first clue that this is a song about sex would be "Venus" in the title. Second clue would be "exciting sex" in the very first line. If you read interviews with her at the time, the eggs are a very kinky reference too. 😋
Bjork is amazingly talented and she's got such a unique voice...but she has the weirdest musical tastes. She's kind of the Helena Bonham Carter of music...weird, but always fun to watch and listen to.
Hey Tommy , not posted for a while but I really appreciated this video - one of the few people I've noticed to have picked up on the sexual content of this song. Another of her songs 'Play Dead' is even more soul-baring, a song about making love in a relationship where the feelings have long died, but played out as a Bond movie theme.
