Great videos man! What would be cool would a comparison between a Wizard W800 and the JMP both straight in and both with a drive pedal in front. Regards. David from Melbourne Australia 🤘
thanks a lot David! I'm from Melb too! :) I've never played a W800 but would love to know how it compares to a JMP if I ever had the chance. Either way I need to do some more tests and share my results 🍻🍻
great video, very cool to hear how these different settings sound. I liked the MTL with the mids cranked a bit, and it was also cool to hear my suggestion (which sounds very cool but I'd still maybe fine tune the presence and treble a little). In the other examples, I preferred the tone you dialled in originally on the MTL, but it was really cool to hear what effect the different controls have - it helps understand the core voicing of the amp.
They sound very close on this demo. Marshall with OD seem to have some really sharp teeth in the upper mids that I enjoyed. What's your opinion? How do they differ in the room? Is the Wizard worth the pricetag?
The do sound similar, I think with some more tweaking I could get it closer too. The Wizard doesn't naturally have the sharp teeth of the Marshall in the upper mids, but it does have a more 'round' tone with more bottom end. In the room they sound similar to on the mic. I love the sound of both, if I had got the Marshall first and knew how close it could sound to the Wizard... I'm not sure if I would still purchase the Wizard to be honest, even though I do love it. Looks like the price has gone up even more now too. I will say the build quality on the Wizard is very very good, incredibly well built amp.
The Marshall had that distinctive bite that we all enjoy. When playing with a bassist, I'd prefer the Marshall over the Wizard.
Absolutely, a Marshall becomes a Marshall once it's cranked up and with a full band. That's where it shines

Thanks very much! Was good for me to learn what impact the controls have on both amps. Hopefully it helps others too :) 🍻
