I've just ordered this D14 model, and can't wait for it to arrive from Germany. It's too bad that there's no regulator to control the steam flow, but I think that it looks great. I had two (different ones) of these when I was a kid, but now at 51, who says that you must be a kid to enjoy these high quality toys?

I have done research on these beautiful machines and they have accessories that you can buy that can work with these things

Wilesco have quite a range of accessories, I show a few of them off in other videos. There are always used examples available on eBay, sometimes at very good prices.

Very nice and one of the nice features of this model is that apparently all the smoke comes out of the chimney, adding to the effect. Also it takes up much less space than the other models. And with a pulley you could maybe use it to drive a dynamo for some lighting effects. What I never understood is what the different model numbers represent, ex: D16 D18 D20. is it just the boiler size or does it imply any really significant differences? I am a beginner and am seeking a first model and was looking at the D20 but have now "down sized" (my plans) to a D16, but still unsure if would be a mistake. Any advice appreciated!

I'm not sure the larger engines provide much of a performance improvement. I've never done it, but you can grab the parts lists for the current Wilesco range from their website. If you compare piston sizes you should get s fairly accurate idea of which models offer the same power. Me, I like the D16. It's a great size, not too big, and offers all the bells and whistles.
