Yes! I love my bright chaotic bedroom, whenever I watch bedroom makeovers that go from "fun, bright, colourful, full of personality" to "white, beige, fairy lights, a pop of silver/gold/green/blue/muted red, and lots of mirrors and clear space" like I swear, unless you search for specific aesthetics for bedroom makeovers/tours, every video feels/looks exactly the same! I like the look of the clear, white aesthetic bedroom, but it's not a one style fits all sort of thing, and especially when you live with parents; having your bedroom be just as bland as the rest of the house (Idk about y'all but my parents go for wood, cream, and clutter free, it's so boring) sounds like torture! 😅
I own very few things (a little more than in the video tho) but I try to look for colors, fabrics etc that make it feel more cozy. Plants are also great to make the space feel more alive if that makes sense.
Yes, and you could also get some nice plants. Big beautiful plants can make your home cosier. There are plants that don‘t need much water. So if you are traveling, you could leave them for a week or so. There are also self-watering systems for plants...
"The trick is to just be okay with letting things go!"... clothes, people, and relationships that no longer serve you, everything... just let it go AND "do what makes you happy".
That’s such a sad way to look at people and relationships 😬 I get it if it’s something toxic/abusive, but sometimes people take this advice to heart too much. Not everything is about you and needs to “serve you” ALL the time... self sacrifice is a good thing sometimes and would do a lot of people good.
@@Becky0494 a relationship that "serves you", people that "serve you" don't have to literally "serve you" by giving something to you or doing something for you. If it brings you joy, peace of mind contentment etc then it does "serve you".... "do what makes you happy". And yes there are people that are willing to let go before giving something or someone a chance. But I can't bash them for that, they are doing what makes them happy and what works for them. They know themselves better than anyone else so again yes, things and ppl you spend time on/with should serve you whether physically, spiritually, mentally or emotionally... someone that gives me a simple word of encouragement serves me.... Someone that just rings to say hi serves me, loving my job serves me, loving my old beat up car serves me 🤷 service to myself is so much more than people doing physical things.
Just buy like a hundred house plants!! All sizes and varieties and everything, and then sell them when you move cuz people love house plants especially in cities. They would add so much happiness and color and life to the space and would be so beneficial in my opinion plus they purify the air and yeah highly recommend 🪴🌱🌴🌵🌿

A thought! Ever hear of fostering a dog or cat? It may be just the right amount of time for you to enjoy a pet without the obligation of keeping them forever, you just give them some love while they grow up a bit until they find the right home for them. I’m wishing for a lovely pet that loves you so much! 🐈 🐕 🐱 🐶
it’s honestly never a question- during online school when kelly uploads, given the fact that i will always learn more from her videos, i click. sorry not sorry, high school
Being minimalist makes it to easy to move to other place anytime without having to worry about all the ton of stuff you own, Things not only clutter your space but your mind too
Minimalism isnt about how much stuff you have. It’s a lifestyle. Obviously get rid of unnecessary stuff and things that don’t bring you joy but you don’t have to live with nothing or deprive yourself. Not that she is depriving herself, but I feel like that’s what ppl think minimalism is and it’s not.
Good stuff. One of these things I've done so far is I have two of those folders for only the most important documents got rid of the rest took the old filing cabinet to scrap in first minimalist run. This provides some inspiration along the way.
"don't get sucked into the cult videos where people are like, 'I eat one lima bean a day because I'm a minimalist!'" -- Bwahahahaha! You're just too funny!
I live with other people. That's what standing in between me and minimalism... If I could get rid of the husband and kids! That alone would be life changing!
I understand when you say "If I could get rid of the husband and kids! That alone would be life-changing!" One piece of advice I will give you is to take a week's vacation by yourself and then come back because having a family is a beautiful thing. We, women, deserve some space to have alone time to declutter our minds and body (to robust).
Drop those kids off or leave them with dad and take a break ! Life is too short to miss out on the blessings because you're burnt out. Speaking from experience. Also you can still minimize just not to the extreme that Kelly did it. I go through me and my kids stuff every 6 months. Sell, donate or trash what we don't need. Its very refreshing.
Canvases can improve the atmosphere of a place so much! They bring personality and colour to a space, help with the echo that "empty" rooms tend to have, and can often be resold easily. It doesn't have to be fancy art either, just the fabric alone in a suitable size is often enough. Plus, they need zero care - unlike plants for example.
@toorf In today's episode of heinous emails, someone wrote that I'm racist for supporting Lisa from Blackpink and dancing to their songs when kpop appropriates black culture and is harmful to "us." And I have her bangs therefore I hate black people. 😂
yesss to minimalism not being one size fits all! Thank you for being incredibly open about minimalism being unique to each and every person, because at its core it really is about what makes you happy/ anti-over buying culture
Your video is thought provoking! Yesterday I complained about my desk being so small and I need a bigger one to hold all my stuff. The desk is fine, it's me having too much stuff being the damn problem...
I was a minimalist before I met my husband who "collects" everything! I miss the good ol' days and hope to one day sell it all and downsize to van life-ha! Thanks Kelly for always being inspirational!
Could you maybe someday do a video where you tell us what you’re beliefs are, like purpose of life, afterlife, goals etc. I think that would be really interesting, obv only when you’re willing to share!
While I’m not a minimalist I feel like there is so much I can learn from the concept. A decluttered, well lit space always gets me more motivated to work.
I like how you said “learn to let go” or something along those lines. I’ve been teaching myself this with certain things lately. This video is a synchronicity and just another way of learning detachment! 💗

Another tip for letting go of clothes: post on OfferUp! I posted a picture of my bags of clothes, indicated my size, and sadly got like 20 messages of people interested. I ended up giving them to a woman who seemed like she really needed them
I love that your video was recommended to me. I am currently on a journey to declutter my space. I remember the first time I developed a minimalist mindset when I moved to Istanbul and my life packed in two checked bags. I loved that feeling when I moved to my aunt's apartment and then into my great-grandma's flat.

Hi Kelly. I’m a semi retired woman who started traveling and moving a lot 3 years ago. One thing I found to help me feel “at home” in a new place is putting a colorful piece of fabric on the wall. It can be a scarf or a Japanese wall hanging. It usually packs up well and I can use same one from place to place. Also I go to thrift store and buy 5 or 6 books to stack around to add color and give that lived in look cost 10 to 15 dollars and worth it. A house feels like home with just a little color on the walls and counters. Love your channel!
OK not a subscriber (too old male) but have seen a few of your videos - you pop up from time to time on my home page and something about you always peeks my interest. You're unique, an original, not the typical cookie-cutter youtuber doing the day in my life crap! Really admire your intelligence and way you do what you do - well done!
You can make cute stuffed animals, pillows, and weave a rug, or arm crochet, or knit one. You can develop these things to keep yourself occupied and learn some new crafts, plus it will have your place looking cute.
"This is everything I own in the bedroom... NOTHING." -- I aspire this level of decluttering. Also good decision not to put a mirror facing the bed -- it's bad fengshui XD
Ok so it's quite normal that I always hang my mirror somewhere away from the bed so I won't feel uncomfortable feeling watched (by myself but still it made me uncomfortable once, never again).
one thing that i cannot shed is wall art like my own art, prints, paintings bc it strucks so much inspiration and motivation which adds to the concept “does it bring me joy or money?” as an artist that small spark definitely will help me sell a painting

@@maribart4237 I think a happy medium would be better. Clean with some items that still make your room you.
Plants are also great to make the space feel more alive if that makes sense.
how to look less like a mental institution: add color to the walls! paints won't take up space... I just hope it matches your confidence and style.
Good idea!
Yes, and you could also get some nice plants. Big beautiful plants can make your home cosier. There are plants that don‘t need much water. So if you are traveling, you could leave them for a week or so. There are also self-watering systems for plants...
@@itschristine4966 yes! They have the self watering bulbs at the dollar store or Walmart
"The trick is to just be okay with letting things go!"... clothes, people, and relationships that no longer serve you, everything... just let it go AND "do what makes you happy".
@Bevony- yes I agree!
I think it’s important to serve a Spartan some Boost nutritional drink.
Once I throw my sister out of the house, I'll automatically become a minimalist.

It may be just the right amount of time for you to enjoy a pet without the obligation of keeping them forever, you just give them some love while they grow up a bit until they find the right home for them. it’s honestly never a question- during online school when kelly uploads, given the fact that i will always learn more from her videos, i click. sorry not sorry, high school
Literally 😆
Being minimalist makes it to easy to move to other place anytime without having to worry about all the ton of stuff you own, Things not only clutter your space but your mind too
“Why would I try to impress people I don’t even like?” You’re my hero! Preach, lady!!! 😍
I am amazingly impressed with how little you own. No matter how many times I clean out my closet, there are ALWAYS too many clothes.
My sister donates her unused makeup from her subscriptions to her local woman’s shelter. She’s an icon 🥰
That's so cool of her to do.
“Typical student running late to remedial math”. Kelly Stamps personally victimized me and I’m here for it.
People talk about minimalism and I never get to see the true minimalism in their lifestyle. Kelly you’re a true minimalist with a wardrobe like that.
She’s just at the start to her hoarding life. It could take her longer than some, but it’s ok. It’s a process.
Good stuff. One of these things I've done so far is I have two of those folders for only the most important documents got rid of the rest took the old filing cabinet to scrap in first minimalist run. This provides some inspiration along the way.

I live with other people. That's what standing in between me and minimalism... If I could get rid of the husband and kids! That alone would be life changing!
Ooomgggggg
I understand when you say "If I could get rid of the husband and kids! That alone would be life-changing!" One piece of advice I will give you is to take a week's vacation by yourself and then come back because having a family is a beautiful thing. We, women, deserve some space to have alone time to declutter our minds and body (to robust).
I can’t 😂😂😂
Lmao

Kelly proves you don’t need a lot of bells and whistles to make good videos. Her videos are minimalist and that is refreshing.
Plus well lit space helps in spotting spiders 🕷 🕷 🕷 🕷

@@daniellegonsalves3745 i love beige! i tend to look bad in brown, reds, yellows, and oranges so i lean more towards blues or purples, off-whites. what kind of eyeshadow colors do u use, if u do makeup?
@@novadieu7820 hmmm that's interesting, I feel like I look so bad in purple and blues because they just make my skin look literal green hahha and if I wear eyeshadow I usually just do browns, occasionally gold or pink if I'm feeling wild lol

This apt is goals to me. I literally moved in with my husband into a studio apt when we got married (in NYC mind you so it is the size of a shoebox) and because both of our things are mixed in - it looks as if we have a lot of stuff (another thing about NYC apts is you are blessed if you get any closet space which we unfortunately have none of) when we don't & then the pseudo-clutter drives me crazy so the way Kelly did her apt/organization speaks to my soul lolol
This really makes me want to clean out my closet 😂

I’ve heard it can cause nightmares.
Ok so it's quite normal that I always hang my mirror somewhere away from the bed so I won't feel uncomfortable feeling watched (by myself but still it made me uncomfortable once, never again).
