Looks like a great upgrade. I used the last gen 25 times last year at least and I love it. I thought the lineman's loops being slightly offset when tightened down would annoy me but it didn't whatsoever. When you lean into your lineman's belt the loops automatically self center anyway. Take those buckles and put the slight strip of stealth stripes between them and they're absolutely dead quiet. By far my favorite thing is that you often forget its even there is so lightweight and packs down so nice. You and John really hit a home run with this series.
Agree 100% the lineman loops always went right to center as soon as it pulled. So I never had an issue when going ro heavier clothing changing the locations a little. Bit this new one with double buckles fixes that and is amazing. The quality of work John does on these is top shelf all the way too. Love them.
Yep he said he will honor the fast turn around time until hunting season starts then thru hunting season he will do as he can when he can but not gonna give up any woods time to sew.
I'm new to hunting in tree stands. Will be hunting this year. I have a couple of other of your videos saved to watch later. Nice video love my harness except for the same issues you have with it with balkier gear. Can he make the adjustment to my harness from last year to accommodate the changes to this year’s model.
Yep much easier to hook to! No fumbling trying to find the fabric loops and no fighting to get them to open. Just a quick and solid hook up everytime without looking.

Do you like the rings more than the loops? It would be nice to come in and not have to pivot the carabiner vertically but I’ve gotten used to it.
@Wiscobowhunt I like the rings much better. I like the solid feel of knowing in hooked on the ring. I can feel the carabiner go around it and bite without looking. Both work great. All personal preference. But I've used rings for so many years I just like em better.
In your opinion could I use my tactisaddle for saddle hunting in this same manner for a lock on? I would like to transition between sitting and standing. A lot of what I see stats that saddles are not going to “arrest” a fall should one happen.
Good question with no proven answer. The problem is the bridge. Nobody has tested a bridge in a slack fall and the direction it pulls from. The tree stand harness he makes is designed to pull theu the legs in a fall and the main tether connection point is Rock solid when used with good tether rope. A bridge we don't know how it will all work
I wish he could make it to where the leg straps go straight up instead of giving me a wedgie and having to modify it to avoid that. on a side note i'm not sure i've watched one video of a product you've bought that you havne't modified to the way you want it
John is going to make the changes to the rear leg keeper straps so they go straight up. I kept forgetting to tell him about it and a couple people told him how I modify it and he is going to start doing it right out of the gate. It's a 3 second fix but makes a big difference

Hi Jason absolutely great and helpful stuff! Quick question, how long is your harness tether line cut from your Sterling 8.4 30m? I purchased 30m of the one that's available now, the Duetto Sterling Xeros 8.4. And also I am a bit concerned, it says it is rated as a twin or a half rope, and not a single rope (for fall arrest). So, are your older 8.4's rated better then the one I just purchased, or do you think I'm ok with tree stand single fall usage? Thanks so much.
Think mine was 12 feet when I first made it so I had room to trim if I later felt the need. I think it's still at 12. This give enough room for some of the huge diameter oaks I hunt and room to tie the bowline and leave some tail line. Mine is rated the same. Those ratings are designed for big distance falls. I have no worries on this line for a 1 or 2 foot drop. And the break rating is very high on this rope. It's many times better than the life lines the hunting versions use.
Thinking about ordering one but I’m not a saddle hunter. Sticks and stand. So the lifeline will be hooked up in the front instead of the back? Will it get in the way for the bow hunter? So use to my harness behind my back

The connection in the front is because 9 out of 10 tree stand falls happen hanging, or getting into or out of the stand. And during all of those you are facing the tree. And even if you fall out of the stand being able to turn around and get to the sticks to recover is much easier being tethered in the front. It does not get in the way at all while hunting
I attach my tether to the front loop with a figure 8 knot and leave it on there all the time. When im on stand I tie that tether around the tree with a bowline knot
have not rock climbed or ice climbed in a long time, might I suggest a light strapping system for around the chest. You pitch out of the treestand there is no guarantee that you will be upright. Not good if unconscious or or. Think about that whoops pitching out of the stand , you will probably headfirst not be like a climber and be already vertical.

About armpit high. Seems to be where I like it best and easier to spin on stand. I make sure there is all the slack I need but not much extra incase I did fall.
Do saddle pouches work well with this harness? This is something I’ve been looking for and stumbled on your video. Would be perfect for me if pouches work well. I like very minimal and not much gear going in with me other than a couple pouches.
Sure can. when you order it tell john you want the molle webbing on the main belt. I personally dont use it so I tell him not to add it to mine. But he will put molle webbing all the way around the hip belt for you if you ask him.

@christopherd7922 I have tried all the buckets. The ones I hate the most are the tacticle buckles. They are heavy and cumbersome. If you want quick release on and off the pass thru buckles are simple light and perfect. I prefer the fixed buckles but the pass thru buckles would be my second choice
Very cool, I’m new to your podcast and UA-cam channel. I like this style over my Muddy 5 point harness, because the harness I have restricts my neck movement. But, is it a little obstructing to have a loop in front while you’re seated with a recurve on your lap? I don’t always use a bow hanger in our stands. Do you have another video showing how you tie in on a tree and then sit with it?
I like having the connection in the front alot better. My tether is always connected to my harness with a figure 8 knot that I always leave attached. So no metal or anything to make any noise. I will link a couple videos in the next comment for you.

Treestand Wingman is the business. I keep mine in a Tethrd Sys Hauler on the back of my Dryad Killdeer. Awesome to think you can just ride down to the ground and reset if need be. Very comforting.
@G Gergg look up how saddle hunters repel down a tree on youtube. That set up will be the absolute safest method for a climber stand and offer a back up method to get down safe if the stand drops out. You can use that type of set up with this harness very easily. You won't need a lineman belt either with the girth hitch or quick link you will find when you watch a couple videos.
@@SamkoTradBow Cool, will check them out...On Tactisaddle order page it asks to choose between a "fixed leg buckle" or "pass-thru leg buckle", are you using the pass thru style on your video?
@G Gergg I use the fixed. Meaning I have to step theu the leg loops. The pass theu buckle detaches and let's you wrap the leg loop around your leg then buckle it.

He can not modify a previous model to the new double buckle system do to the design. The old style is excellent. The new one is just more excellent.
Why do you like the aluminum rings versus the fabric/webbing? Seems like the webbing is naturally quiet. Is it just easier to attach/detach?

Don't think I ever made a video showing that. But I use a figure 8 knot for the tether to the harness and always leave it attached.

The attachment point is higher up to help keep you from flipping. And 90% of tree stand falls happen when getting in or out of the stand.
Jason, someplace you stated how long to make your tether rope. I can not find that and can't remember what your said. Can you tell one more time?

Yes. Especially since it attaches at the front. You could use a rope with a girth hitch around the tree and slide it up and down as you go

Jason could you reuse those buckles in the back so it does have the ability for those leg straps to move, instead of tying it
